Most of the seats are reserved towards the middle and back - so I assume this is possible when purchasing in advance online. As for the show itself, the comedians are knowledgeable and topical. The theme is "The Cutting Edge" for Tuesdays, which is mostly focused on current evens and political news. A tip for the show, they make fun of the first row a lot; best to keep that in mind when choosing seats. Great show and would come to visit again.

I think the pub itself is pretty cool, it's relaxed and there's no pretensions at The Fighting Cocks at all. I love the late 80s / early 90s rock vibe and the neighborly feel of the place. The venue is host to many of the rock / hardcore bands of the local scene. The venue is situated behind the bar and has it's own little vibe where you can stand or sit and watch bands and share a drink. Although there's nothing wrong with this place, it's a little out of the way for me. Unless my friends are down there or I'm in Kingston shopping or meeting someone, then there's no real reason for me to go there really. There are lots of even better little music venues in central London. A one-off is fine, but perhaps not somewhere to go especially to have a drink...

However, the security guard at the front door didn't want to let us in because he thought we were too drunk. This was far from the truth and was proven by the fact that a few minutes later one of his colleagues let us in finally without any problems. We ordered two beers that we wanted to drink in peace whilst listening to good music. This couldn't happen due to the first doorman showed up. He abused us verbally and physically, shouted at us, was aggressive and incomprehensibly angry. He intentionally poured our drinks on the floor and on us, smashed the glasses. I normally don't write reviews like this and I worked in hospitality too. I don't agree that the customer is always right. But I've never experienced such rudeness. I've never experienced someone abusing their perceived 'power' like this. I've never felt so humiliated in a venue. We were absolutely harmless, didn't hurt or provoke anyone, just wanted to drink our drinks we paid for. We were shocked by this situation and other people around us didn't get this either. It was absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable. We may not have been sympathetic to him for any reason but this can't be an excuse for his horrible behaviour, we were paying guests. I also can imagine he was unwilling to let us in close to closing time (11 PM ish) even though we had no intention of sleeping there. We just wanted to spend a pleasant night in a good place and traveled a lot for it. Instead we had awful time there. There's no way I would recommend this place after what happened and I only hope there will be consequences because it says a lot about the management how they handle this. I'd prefer not to give a single star but the site doesn't let me send my review without it. There are way better places in London for those people who love rock and metal music.

A monthly event in TW which has just moved from above the Grey Lady in the Pantiles to Chapel Place…read morenearby. I can only assume it's because they need a larger venue. It's always busy and deservedly so. The fellas that run it seem to know everybody & make it their business to say hello to all & sundry. The normal MC is a local guy called Stephen Upsall who's quite a card & they have some excellent guests for a reasonable fee. Lucy Porter & Robin Ince were particularly good last year. Nobly, they squeeze in a newcomer between the more experienced first and last acts. Noble but sphincter-puckeringly risky at times. This is often the crucial time of the evening & there is always a thrill in watching somebody take that big leap. Some have done excellently and others shockingly. Few situations can summon up the awkwardness of being in a dying comedians audience. It is supported by a happy local crowd. The local Toni & Guy are one of the sponsors and they always send down a group of lunatics. Beyond this there is another sponsor called 'Moog Royale': I think they sell synthesiser burgers.

Ok, that might not be saying a lot but the Therapy Room offers a quirky, less formal alternative to comedy at Trinity or The Assembly Hall. Much improved since it's move to a superior venue (less chance of being asphyxiated by Grey Lady fajita fumes), the comedians are invariably excellent, ably supported by a compere full of cracking local gags. A great night's entertainment at a good price.

Came here for our LBS performance! Was a fun time!! :) The students of the comedy class showcased…read moretheir talents in 10-15 performances, one person at a time. I was really impressed with how good they were! There were two breaks in the middle of the performances where people could chat in the bar area and get some drinks or food. We got ciders, beer and nachos there (nachos took a while to prepare so watch out for that!). The MC who announced all the performances was funny as well! We stayed until the very end and the bar closing.
