Manning & Murray listen to you and guide you through the process. It is easy to reach them through the phone or email. They usually responded within an hour, and never did a question go unanswered for longer than one business day. When the worst happens, and you have to use the estate documents that you have so carefully drawn up, you'll want to be able to reach out to a professional, proficient estate law law with excellent customer service - where someone is readily available to help you. Manning and Murray was first recommended to me by an attorney working for a Maryland estate law firm that regularly provides estate planning basics to retiring government workers. Then a friend also mentioned that they had used them - and encouraged me to use them too. Finally, someone employed in the trust department of a bank stated that Manning & Murray had done all of the estate planning for their family. Another friend recommended using an online estate law software package, but the estate had complex needs, and we decided that approach wasn't a good fit. I'm looking forward to sleeping better at night, knowing that the important estate matters are settled. I recommend Manning & Murray wholeheartedly for all who need estate planning work done.

Unresponsive My wife…read moreDenise submitted a detailed inquiry via Elder Law PLC's website seeking a consultation regarding an aging parent with dementia. We provided our contact information as required. Over a week later, no response (no phone call or voicemail and no email, and yes we checked our spam and promotions folders). We have a screenshot after submitting the webform showing it was received and "We will respond to you shortly." It's obvious by now they are not going to respond. The professional thing to do is respond even if they don't feel they can help us, instead of simply ignoring the inquiry. And there are no excuses such as: "We never check inquiries via our website." If that's the case then remove the webform from your website. "We prefer that inquiries are made over the phone." If that's the case then again, remove the webform from your website. "The employee responsible for checking the online inquiries forgot to do it." The employee should be counseled about the potential loss of business to the law firm by such inattentive behavior. "We read your inquiry and decided we can't or won't help you, for whatever reason." The professional and responsive thing to do in this case is to simply communicate that to the person who submitted the inquiry.

This man just wants every penny your elderly or disabled family member has and will charge you $70 to just open a file to start the case!!! He will act like he is there with good intentions and converse with you, only to refrain from telling you that he is CHARGING BY THE MINUTE and will do anything to continue the clock to bill you for later. THIS MAN DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY MEMBER!!! Further, KEEP AWAY IF YOU ARE A YOUNG WOMAN. This man will try to touch your legs during conversations if you are wearing a dress or skirt around him and will act EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE. He will try to kiss your hand when going in for a handshake if you're a young woman and even your own attorney will be in disbelief at how inappropriate he is. He was extremely inappropriate that my own attorney was SHOCKED. Stay away from this man unless you want to be scarred for life.

So, this is really a review of my lawyer, Nelson Garcia. He came highly recommended by a friend…read morewho'd used him as her divorce attorney, and maybe he was great for her. He wasn't for me. My divorce was pretty cut and dry. We just needed someone to write up the legalese for us. The retainer was $5,000, but I think I wound up paying about twice that because Nelson just would. not. listen. to. me. about how I wanted to handle things. I'm sure that he thought that he was doing his due diligence for his client, but after the client (me) has answered multiple times, I really feel like the lawyer should just shut up and listen. On top of that, he made MANY errors in our paperwork, and, naturally, charged me to fix them. I will never, ever recommend him, and I will, in fact, advise other people to stay away from him. On the bright side, the Accountant, Ruth Zetlin, is lovely, and despite the fact that I only dealt with her regarding billing, I appreciated every interaction. Edit added to respond to the comment from the firm below: My divorce was actually pretty straightforward. We split everything 50/50. The problems and delays arose when Nelson tried to talk me out of decisions that my ex-husband and I had already made (e.g. that I would not extend the 50/50 split of his 401k accounts after the date that I officially moved out). We were delayed further because of the many, many, MANY typos (including our NAMES) that were included in Nelson's documents. Had I known I could have a different lawyer represent me at my trial, believe me, I would've done so.

He's experienced, honest, knowledgable, practical, patient and thorough. Navigating trusts and powers of attorney and other documents designed to protect my parents has been a complicated road. I feel like my parents and I understood our options and were able to make good choices with his help. I would highly recommend him to anyone navigating the elder care world and looking for sound advice and guidance.

I posted a review quite sometime ago. Ms. Boddie took it upon herself to get the review removed…read morebecause it didn't focus on a personal experience versus first hand. I wrote the review for my elderly Father who isn't technology savvy and I typically would've left it alone but here are his words and I quote. "I saw an AD in either the Washington City Paper or Informer where this Attorney advertised her Will services. I made an appointment where I received a consultation and we agreed to move forward. I paid Attorney Boddie $450 to start the process of making a living will. Upon my request she reminded me that I signed a paper in the late 80's in regard to a home deed. Although I didn't initially remember it upon further investigation I realized I signed a paper not knowing the meaning of it well over 30 years prior. With that being said it my family has grown and choices have changed in the last 30 years. To get another opinion I reached out to another Attorney and they said that the courts could be petitioned to get this matter resolved. When I mentioned this to Attorney Boddie she suggested that I get that attorney to handle my case and she kept the $450. This was an unpleasant experience and I don't recommend her services to anyone thank you" We like to share the good , bad and the ugly. In hopes our story can prevent others from experiencing the same thing.
