Teacher Amy is amazing and seems to know how each child works...She is the toddler whisperer. Since we are a coop, every parent cares about the school and the kids in it. We have found a wonderful sense of community and support at MTP. The room very spacious with an open concept. There is an outdoor playground as well as a big room for indoor play on stormy days. I wanted to find a co-op because I love the fact that I can ease my child into learning. You get to be a part of the class and get to know the kids, families and the fabulous teacher Amy! There was actual information about how they are CONTINUING to keep our kids safe and masking. It's so helpful for keeping those little fingers out of noses and mouths I love that the school is so inclusive and has so much information available on their site. Teacher Amy is so kind and gentle with the kids, you can tell it's her passion to teach kids! She rotates the activities for the kids to do so that there little minds are constantly inspired. I am so so thankful to have found the school. My son can't WAIT to go to school and see his friends, it brings such a beautiful sense of normalcy that I cannot express enough how big of a difference it makes for our family! Through interacting with other parents in the classroom, my son has build incredible relationships to both peers and other adults. Having other trusted adults in our lives is crucial to the idea that it takes a village to raise a child. 2. By observing parents collaborating together, even to do things as simple as classroom clean-up, my son has truly integrated the idea that "Friends help friends" and seeks to live this philosophy out. 3. My son has grown so much in the classroom. His social skills blossomed towards the end of his initial preschool year, and he made his first deep friendship. I can't wait to see what the next year holds. The mixed age classroom is special because it allows older children to model for and mentor the younger children. 4. Teacher Penny has an incredible ability to connect with each student and assess their needs. She has great patience for young children and shows no favoritism to any student. I think all children feel truly seen by her, and this builds their confidence and sense of self. 5. Being a parent is challenging, but with the support of other parents it feels much easier to be the parent I want to be. My oldest daughter was welcomed into the school at age 3 and she spent the next three years growing, exploring, challenging and thriving. My second daughter was a part of the community from the day she was born and while she's a very different child from her sister she found the same nurturing educational environment. One of the things I most admire about Angela is her ongoing enthusiasm of early childhood education and the fact that she is always evolving her school based on new information and what are the needs of the children in the classroom at that moment. I went from a somewhat nervous new preschool mom, asking a million questions all the time, to knowing that whatever was going on in Angela's classroom was fun, exciting, and appropriate for the kids. I see that Cedar L, below, questions Angela's ethics; I find this laughable. Angela is one of the most generous, honest and straightforward people I know. In the course of our nine-year relationship I think we've had to have a few conversations where something had to be worked out, as is to be expected when you're doing business with someone, and that's what a preschool is--a business, after all. I don't even remember exactly what those things were due to Angela's they lovely way working through small conflicts and preserving great relationships.

My wife visited the place and liked it and wanted me to take a look as well. I don't know what was wrong about that ask or my wife making a visit, every response from Tracy from there on had an unwelcoming undertone dissuading us to not enroll. She responded rudely to our questions and did not consider our needs at all even when we were ready to enroll our daughter for an August start date. Very unprofessional, unwelcoming, do not recommend.

Our concerns primarily stem from the inappropriate and unprofessional behavior displayed by the teacher, who is also the owner of the school. She showed a pattern of passive-aggressive communication which created an atmosphere that was tense, uncomfortable, and contrary to the nurturing environment one would expect in a preschool setting. One of the most alarming incidents involved the teacher threatening to involve the police when we arranged for a family member to pick up our daughter's belongings. The overreaction was deeply unsettling. Instead, I had to involve another Mom to help get my daughter's things. Among the items returned to us was a painting my daughter had done especially for Miss Heidi after her cat died last year. This "drama" all stemmed from my husband's response to her email, letting her know we aren't moving away-just leaving the school and she verbally attacked him. However, this wasn't the first time we received a passive-aggressive and extremely long email (like this review, I've got a lot to say!) After our daughter stopped going to Marigold, we discovered that the teacher had sent an email about our family to other parents. This email contained numerous inaccuracies, further highlighting the lack of professionalism and accountability we experienced during our time at the school. This teacher's actions not only undermine the trust necessary between educators and families, but they also bring into question the very ethos of Marigold School of Early Learning. Her actions reflect directly upon the school and its values, and unfortunately, our experience was far from positive. She even would make comments about "feeling sorry" for my daughter! This is also not an inclusive preschool, which as a mom new to the whole school scene wasn't really on my radar. She made a few comments about how my Deaf son would have to go to school with other kids like him (she said this to my daughter). The teacher also tends to dish out unnecessary information to other parents about other parents. I have emails that I can show to prove her unprofessional behavior. Communication matters. It is very important. It is the essence of being human. I wasn't even going to write a bad review because her teaching style was exactly what we were looking for and she write a detailed journal of the kids' days and I thought maybe this is an isolated incident. But after hearing from other families that they had similar interactions with her, I feel like it is important I voice our experience. It is my hope that parents considering this preschool should be aware of these issues and take them into account. As parents, we entrust educators with not just the academic growth of our children, but also their emotional wellbeing. It's disheartening to think that such behavior is presented in an educational setting where developing trust, respect, and healthy communication should be a priority.

Our feelings, mixed at best. We had many hopes and a great introduction to the school via visits both at the school with fellow parent's, and with our child's teacher. We were excited about the coop's nurturing environment, and cohesive community. While we believe our child's teacher was everything we could hope for and more, the parent environment was not okay. Not at all. In the coop, everyone has a role/job. I was nervous but excited about my role within the school it's community. The job, and the school ended up being a place, where I did not feel comfortable. The key role authority the "Co-Chair" never liked my ideas. The energy i put into ideas, and planning, was shot down, by this woman in charge. She seemed to go out of her way to be "helpful" in doing this. We had signed up for a "coop". Instead we got one person making rules, with no regard for others. The new $5 a minute punitive late fee - BAD news, but the way in which this "Co-Chair" put down another admirable member, behind her back to me, that was it. We were sad to leave the good of the school behind. The environment had become for us, the opposite of what was pitched to us. It seemed one bad apple, but then no one, including the other board members or teachers did anything to change the situation. Maybe we had the wrong idea of the school. I would not recommend Southwest Parent-Child Collective.

It's in a historic house in the middle of old Battle Ground which really lends itself to play based learning. The kids don't seem like they are in a classroom setting. They do learn standard preschool academics here but the focus is on social and emotional growth and support and play based learning. My husband and I took turns going to the parent classes lead by the preschool teacher and I truly don't think any one thing has helped our family out more. We are better parents for it. As a co-op you learn and work alongside other families so you can really find a wonderful community here. I really can't recommend this school enough!

Teacher Allisen is great with the kids and at choosing developmentally appropriate activities, projects and books. The focus is social development and community building. The community is attentive and kind. I was very impressed by the leadership shown during the current national health crisis. The president and the rest of the board members showed great attentiveness and concern for community members without panicking. Best of all, the children are just crazy about each other and very kind.
