I must say that during this experience with Overlook my mom was treated with the highest level of professionalism, respect, dignity, and compassion. From the ER to the standard in patient rooms to the CCU she was fortunate to have been treated by amazing individuals including Doctors, nurses, aides, meal providers, maintenance, etc. I do have to reference several professionals that had a major impact during my mom's stays which were: Dr Jessie Wilt, one of the best professionals that i ever met in my life, with unlimited knowledge, respect, compassion and really just an amazing human being who truly cares! Nurses; Sidneia, Olivia CCU, Justin CCU, Megan CCU, Rae Mauro, Emily C., Sheryl, Jamell Quiles, Erika and Faith. To these individuals especially and to the entire staff and organization of the Hospital I would like to thank them for everything that they did to make my mom's last days the most comforting possible! THANK YOU!!! Victor Cunha

It's no surprise that Overlook is ranked as one of the best hospitals in New Jersey -- the entire Atlantic Health System is outstanding. I will be forever grateful to the Overlook Breast Cancer Department for discovering my breast cancer during my routine yearly mammogram. I am thankful to the oncology team to be here. Every department and office experience were lovely and knowledgeable.

I have had 12 surgeries in the past 12 years and have never had to provide this. The staff told me to see if I could obtain this while I was at the office. I had it faxed within 15 minutes. The desk staff later stated this information was available online. It would have taken 5 minutes instead of my trying to obtain this at 4:30 p.m. on a Friday. The staff then told me that I had to reschedule a new appointment for the following week since I "missed my appointment" because the doctor went on to other patients. What was she doing while I was obtaining this report, reading a book? I am sure she started seeing patients as soon as she was told that I was trying to obtain the report. She never bothered to speak to me. My surgeon needed the medical clearance test 3 days before my surgery so I was highly stressed. I was lucky enough to have the preop test done at another facility the following day. The doctor never asked for a PROGRESS REPORT and had never asked for one in her career to perform a medical clearance. I am completely through with this facility.

I almost slipped on ice multiple time to find this building that I was given zero instructions to find. I went into three different parking garages and couldn't find a single space. I called the office over and over and over to inform them I am here and can't find parking. Finally at 10:10 someone picked up the phone but was an answering service. They said they would contact the office and get back to me. No one got back to me and when I finally arrived at my appointment it was 10:20 and they could no longer see me. There were a few different people working the front desk and no one was on the phone so there doesn't seem to be a good reason they couldn't answer. Three hours of my life wasted for nothing.

BUT BUT BUT, Dr. Minifra is on an extended maternity leave, and left her patients care to her assistant, Denise Hernandez A.P.R.N. On December 18th, I made a video appointment with Denise, during this call everything went well; as usual. I was told by Denise as we ended the call, to follow up in 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS LATER...... I go to MyChart to schedule a follow-up with Denise, and I can't schedule an appointment, there are NO PROVIDERS LISTED!! Also, there was no way to send a message!! I call the office next, and I'm transferred to someone who tells me "You've been discharged from this practice!! SHOCKED!! ME?? WHY?? All that was explained to me was that "They are short staffed". Next, I was told that they would provide 1 month of medication while I find another provider. Now, for most people this might be ok, but for me, I'm on Controled Substance meds, and finding another provider is More than Difficult, and I explained them of this; THEY DID NOT CARE!! Being a patient with 3 chronic conditions in need of continuous medications, this type of behavior should be ILLEGAL!! Doctors take an oath, to "DO NO HARM", these Doctors Harmed Me Terribly!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE AT ALL COSTS!!

At 630 this morning, I realized I had forgotten to pack my thyroid medicine to take with me on vacation to Boston. I called and left a message requesting a prescription be called in for 5 tablets. I gave all of my personal info, and provided the location and phone number of the local CVS, which was in Salem, where we'd be spending the day, as well as my own phone number. I did not receive any call back confirming that the message was received, etc. So I called again, at about 9:35. I was told the prescription had been "called in". Ok, great. We did some sightseeing at I went to the CVS at 11:30 assuming the prescription would be ready or nearly ready. I was told it was never received. Called the Dr office again. I was told that the Dr on duty never looked at it because he was busy with patients. Ok, but I'm a patient also, and I had iniated this request in the early morning, so could they please ask him to do it between patients she said she would ask him to do that. I returned at 1:30... STILL NOTHING. I called the Dr office and was told the same story. We went to lunch. I called the pharmacy at 330. THE PRESCRIPTION WAS A) NOT CALLED IN TO THAT LOCATION, BUT TO ANOTHER ONE IN SALEM; B) THE DR PRESCRIBED *A*FULL*30 DAY* SUPPLY* which I did not ask for, and the prescription coverage denied it because I'm not due for a FULL refill until October. NO KIDDING. BUT I ONLY ASKED FOR F I V E TABLETS. I called the Dr office A G A I N, told them what they did which was WRONG, and they proceeded to pit me.in hold then hand me off to someone who expected me to start from the beginning to explain it to her. NO THANKS. I called the CVS back, worked with the pharmacy to only fill it for 5 tablets, for which I had to pay out of pocket since the INEPT DR OFFICE called in the WRONG QUANTITY so the pharmacy could not run it through my prescription coverage for less than 30 day supply. I. AM. LIVID. I've NEVER dealt with such ineptitude in my life.

I would not recommend the Emergency room at St Barnabas to the most vile individual. The Emergency Room at RWJ St Barnabas Hospital Livingston is a place I would not recommend any breathing soul to visit. PLEASE DO YOUR LOVED ONES A FAVOR, GO ELSEWHERE (Morristown Memorial, St Claire's, Holyname, Englewood) Our experience felt like something straight off tv! Pediatric Nurse Erin R (a disgrace) and Grace R (horrible) Nurses in pediatrics HORRIBLE! These nurses are a disgrace to RWJ St Barnabas. The Pediatric Emergency Room is beyond horrible. My child could not walk, or stand. I asked the nurse at the entrance if she could bring a stretcher to help, get my child into the ER., my child was weak, in enormous pain. The nurse huffed at me like I was asking for millions of dollars. My child was admitted, needed 2 transfusions, and needed intensive care. The lack of compassion, care, no concern, desensitized, inappropriate behavior of the ER nursing staff, lack of communication amongst doctor's, nurses, and patients is life threatening. I will say the Pediatric floor has improved, and I appreciate all of the nurses that has cared for my child for the past 4 years. Unfortunately due to a few bad apples in the ER, we will never return to this place, regardless of the circumstances. This hospital is a train wreck looking for a time, and place. It won't be with my family or friends! Yes sharing your review on social media will encourage others to think twice. Hopefully positive changes for the better will happen, that hold a few bad surgeons, and nurses accountable. The Joint Commission, medical board, nursing license board, consumer affairs, as well as going after these negligent surgeons at St Barnabas ability to write medication for pain, narcotics will get immediate attention, adding loss of accreditation, possibly being kicked to a Tier 2 hospital which will hurt the hospital financially. Only after RWJ St Barnabas is held fully accountable on every level that affects there finances will they understand the depth of pain, and disappointment, that they have caused patients, families, and the community!

Each time though while there have been hiccups, overall each visit has been pretty good things considered. Average wait time is about 25-30 minutes and most of the time the staff have been patient and helpful with my clients. The ER is very big and accomodating for people which probably helps with the fairly reasonable wait times. The check in is pretty efficient although they should have a better system than shouting the persons name and have them schlep over to the desk. The parking is fair and they validate which is nice as having been to other hospitals it is not like that and despite paying is a royal pain in the rear. Hospitals in general aren't ideal places for visiting but here by way of the ER, you could do a lot worse.

Review of The Breast Center:…read more I recommend The Breast Center at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center without hesitation. Screenings and exams can be scary for a patient (I know they are for me). This morning, I went in for my annual exams. From intake to the examinations themselves, it was a smooth sailing because of all professionals who worked there. The women at registration were friendly, welcoming, and positive. Again, I'm nervous walking in, but they create an environment where that nervous energy starts to dissipate. That's important. The waiting room also has this relaxing vibe with its decor and that contributes, too. The medical technicians were kind, patient, and knowledgeable. At medical appointments, when asked "Do you have any questions?" I'm a patient who ALWAYS has questions. The people at The Breast Center answer in a caring way and make sure that you understand and feel comfortable with the responses. Also, one HUGE plus is that The Breast Center is open on Sundays. For me, I have trouble taking off work Monday to Friday, so this is a big plus and helps me with keeping on top of my doctor visits. I don't have an excuse to put it off. So, highly recommended!
