I love ice skating and this is the closest rink to me. It is…read morea large ice skating rink and is good most of the time. I used to have lessons there when I was younger and still do visit occasionally. One thing I remember being terrible was the way they seprated the ice up for lessons, they'd put cones across the ice. This meant people couldn't hold onto the side all the way round and they'd have to get across the middle with nothing to hold onto. I imagine this would be very daunting to people who couldn't skate! I personally have never had a problem here- check out their website with all there special deals on. They have just had a new locker system installed - it's all electronic and done by pin code which is snazzy although there isn't enough of them! Don't think this is walkable from the centre MK, it's too hard to find, although it is close to the railway station.

The surroundings are rather grotty and can't compare with Somerset House or possibly Oxford or Warwick castles (I've not been to the two latter but I imagine they are scenic) but it is bigger and size does (whatever men say) count. There is enough room to get up a bit of speed or just to get up a bit of confidence. It can get very busy at week ends and during school holidays. The disco music can be too loud for anybody except teenagers. Check with the rink before you go if you don't want to find yourself in the middle of an ice disco. During the week the early evening sessions are much quieter. It is run by the council so it isn't that expensive and you can get a discount card if you are a regualar visitor - you may also get special deals if you have a "Slice" card for the council run sports centres. Non-skaters can pay a pound to accompany their children.
Good old Oxford ice rink. It's a typical ice rink in that it's a bit run-down, a bit dirty and…read morerather ugly from the outside, but hey, you don't go there for the aesthetics. The rink is a fair old size and they run lots of great events such as ice dancing lessons, family discos and ice hockey training. Various teams train regularly there, although often late at night, and it's home to Oxford Alternative Ice Hockey (essentially ice hockey for amateurs, but great fun according to my friend who does it regularly). Entry is pretty cheap, although as others have mentioned, it's best to walk there if you want to avoid the parking charges. There are vending machines and lockers, and the staff are friendly and enthusiastic.

The ladies toilets were locked and the disabled ones were not.. very inviting so had to walk to the other side of the arena to the other ones. I suppose they were clean. Crosbys bar is attached and gets very busy but there are hot food and snacks available to purchase in the complex. Good sized arena and it was good to see The Coventry Blaze play in their home town. There is plenty of seating tiered up all around the rink for the supporters. If you like the hussle and bussle of this energetic game its worth a peek.

It has great facilities, with boot hiring and lockers to keep your stuff in. There are vending machines dotted around too for snacks. Princing is relatively good. Its not too expensive. Having visited last week and been satisfied but not impressed, I enjoyed my visit significantly…read moremore this time: the staff were attentive and friendly, and visible enough to find if there was a problem. While there still weren't many people in the place (rather expected for midday on a Tuesday!), the vibe was much more pleasant. Perhaps I just caught the staff on an off day last time? Either way, it was a very enjoyable visit. However, I would still absolutely prefer if there were direction signs to the bowling/restaurant/skating that weren't just printed on the floor, given the low lighting makes them hard to read!

If you are a teenager group or a family looking for an activity on a rainy Sunday, this might be a fun place to go. The good thing about ice rank is that it is indoors and unlike any other place you even can go ice-skating in summer. The equipment all can be hired at the reception. Funny enough I was invited to a birthday to Queens. Even though it is original I did not really enjoy, as we were all grown up girls skating one round after the other. Not to mention this was summer! But pop icon Madonna and Guy Ritchie celebrated their son Rocco's 6th birthday at Queens then I am sure it I good enough for you little ones!
