We have called multiple times about fireworks and people playing very loud music after 10 PM. The dispatch every time is very unhelpful and gives us attitude. Your job is to serve the public. Another time we were hit by another vehicle and they refused to send out an officer, even though we were completely blocking an intersection. Extremely unhelpful and disappointing. Got pulled over for "being on my phone" when the dude next to me WAS TEXTING AND DRIVING. Officer M. Perez was not courteous what so ever , didn't give me an opportunity to prove that I have a valid insurance , said I should carry a "physical one" because of covid when clearly there's a reason why it's digital. He violated my rights in a sense of not letting me speak, trying rushing me so he can get his ticket number for the month & he also wasn't wearing a mask and not 6ft away from my car. It's county mandated. WEAR A MASK. I have never had a good experience with OPD. Very unprofessional all the time. I prefer CPD & VPD over Oxnard any day and I'm a native. read more

The worst of the worst. I don't even live in this city but I commute to Oxnard daily for work. I honestly regret taking the position out here because I never thought I would say this but the police out here are far worse than those from the LAPD, that should tell you something. My story here is I work for a retail store where we get quite a bit of theft and we used to call the police to assist us but they aren't any help. They never catch anyone because by the time they arrive 2 hours have passed. Like what kind of bs is that? They are lazy. We get license plate numbers, video footage and nothing is done. But boy do they love to give out those speeding tickets like they are Oprah. Thank you for your fantastic service officers of the law! read more

This police agency has done a poor job of training their officers. I was ambushed by 5 police officers and three cars for being in my parked car.. I had no idea this was illegal? That's because it is not.. they even agreed, but still had the nerve to tell me I was being detained and to present my identification. I politely refused and asked what crime I had committed.. they could not produce a crime only attitudes and intimidation. They were "responding to a call" and "investigating the area from an incident earlier in the evening"... I was still confused what that had to do with me.. needless to say, they intimidated me enough to infringe on my rights.. I produced my identification.. the sgt. threatened me due to my being in the military which was comical to me, I asked him to go ahead. I called the watch commander and made a complaint, to which I have heard nothing back about. read more

The police force in Oxnard is a sorry state of affairs. They don't confront crime or parking violations or problems within the city, but they will confront non-issues and harass innocent people to kill time. There was a car blocking an alley, they came three hours after the fact stared and drove off. They are rude, not helpful and honestly disrespectful. Sad they even call themselves the police because they are doing no protecting and no service to the community. I could make so many situations and times they fail but I am sure they know that they are worthless. read more

Besides the inability to give this place zero stars, the one star on this review has to be given because of the very polite front desk staff/customer service. However, I give this police department negative five stars for one Officer Jimenez in particular, who lied and falsely attributed a direct quote to me (basically saying I admitted Guilt when he stoped me) during me trying to fight a traffic violation ticket in court that I received months earlier. It was shocking to hear an officer lie in court and to hear the court (thanks unhonorable judge Anthony Saba) automatically agree with him. The ahole judge barely made eye contact with me and was already writing something as I spoke. I knew it was a long shot to fight my alleged violation as courts almost automatically tend to side with officers in court, but I had to try to fight when I did not commit the alleged violation. I came prepared to pay the violation as I knew it was a mostly he said, she said argument and the courts would tend to favor the officer, but I did not expect the officer to lie in open court. I know there are good officers out there though and that this is one of the sucky ones. I really wish the department was required to wear body cams in order to establish an objective perspective, but let's be honest. If a body camera ever showed you to be in the right, the cam footage would probably be unavailable due to "not working" properly. Anyway, I wish us both good look in getting one of the good ones (aka not jiminez) if tragedy shall occur and we need one of them to come to our aid. read more

Don't bother contacting them about any non emergency issues. They have a non emergency line but they do not follow up. I realize that Oxnard has a bit of a crime rate so non emergency issues may not take precedence here. Also, this is a not a town where many law enforcement live. This review is for a dispatcher named "Kim" very aloof, seemed cold, bitter and jaded. Not what I expect when I call for HELP! I like to believe I "bother" our police because I'm here in the forefront of the B.S! I HEAR and unfortunately HAVE TO SEE THINGS I DONT LIKE!! (Nor do my neighbors, they just don't feel as outspoken as I do!) To say the least, sad, sad, sad experience. If I could give OPD negative stars I would. These officers are lazy/rude and do not want to do more work than they have too. Someone hit my VW 1968 and took off. I was able to get the license plate. In the report THEY wrote I was not able to identify the other drive nor did I get a license plate. Which is a load of Bologna. I hope the next time any of these officers order a 10 piece McNuggets they only get 9. And for the guy in the black Nissan SentraI hope the next time you fart it's wet and you shart yourself and the next date you go on your shirts inside out and half ways through the date you realize. read more

I have called them several time to report trespassers and drunk people at my work place, that happens to be no more than 3 blocks away from the Headquarters, after 3 hours, an arrogant Officer showed up and basically blamed me for not having signs posted warning trespassers, when I pointed out to the several signs on the building, he said they were not good, because they do not show the code under wich, violators will be prosecuted. He left with an excellent recommendation: Get private security! Our hard-earned dollars are wasted in these inept arrogant people that does nothing for the Community they are supposed to serve, and to pay the large number of law suits they face for wrongdoing and killing innocent people! read more

Police department is horrible! I have called, my wife has call and my son has called about the kids playing basketball in the park at midnight. They never come when you call we had a young man shot and killed in our area by a drive by and these kids under age playing in park, Its dangerous. I guess there are more important things to do than police the area. read more

It is such a relief to read that others agree that the City of Oxnard Police Department provides terrible service to its citizens. I don't know if their service has always been this bad, but in recent months my family and I have needed their help and instead of feeling comforted when we call for help, we are made to feel like we are an annoyance and our calls don't matter. Their usual response to why they are not getting around to responding to our call is "there was a major emergency that was more important and required several officers to be dispatched". A few months ago, my husband and kids were hit by a driver who fled the scene, and officers took OVER 2 hours to make it to the scene for a police report. Other times that we've needed their help, they take HOURS to respond, if they even respond at all. I have complained to supervisors about the service dispatch staff provides, but I seriously doubt staff ever get reprimanded, or that the service they provide will ever improve. The next step for us is to move out of this city that is plagued with a history of fiscal improprieties, which is no wonder city departments are so poorly run. read more
