Ricardo at the front desk was so welcoming and remembered our names each time we came through the lobby. The hotel is a quiet oasis away from the business of the Algarve but is surrounded by wildlife and gorgeous greens that are well cared for. They have amazing drinks and good choices for lunch that are reasonably priced. We used the Turkish bath, sauna and whirlpool daily as well as sunbathing by the outdoor pool. Breakfast was included and included amazingly fresh fruit, cheese, omelets and crepes made to order and an amazing espresso machine that I wanted to bring home with me. Tourism, especially the use of short term rentals, have destroyed things for the locals....make the most of your tourist dollars and choose a hotel, preferably this one.

By car, it's hard to find when you don't know where to drive, but parking on the other side of the river and then walking to the hotel worked well for us :) The welcome was very nice, our room was ready when we arrived, perfect after a long flight from Germany! The room/bathroom itself was clean and properly furnished. I really liked the old tiles in the bathroom, I didn't take a picture of them, shame on me! We only stayed two nights, for a longer stay the space in the closet may be a little too small. In the bathroom was enough space for aaaaall the products a woman needs on vacation. Our room got a balcony, sadly it wasn't a riverview room, I thought! BUT! there were road works in front of the hotel (where the river was) and so we got the quiet site of the hotel this way. I would've taken hundreds of pictures f the beautiful architecture inside if my boyfriend let me, all the wood and nice stairways! The rooftop was pretty cool too, with a few chairs and a sunbed you can enjoy the evening sun without leaving the hotel. The breakfast time is a little bit short, but we managed to get out of bed early so we could enjoy it anyway. The offer of different options at the buffet was appropiate for the low price, but you can not expect to much. At least there were PASTEIS DE NATAS, and all was well ;) The location of the hotel is perfect for discovering Tavira or taking the boat to the Ilha de Tavira. You next trip to Tavira is already plannend and surely, we will stay again here.

Started out not great!!! Greeted by agent saying it's been very stressful the day!!! Asked for a TukTuk and was told something (lol) so confusing we never understood! Awful service. She was in a rush like we know where we are!! Came thru RCI time share and expecting a few simple amenities. Like a small bottle of shampoo,dish soap or dishwasher soap. Nope not there. No laundry facilities on site. no views of ocean. Can see the canal. No easy access to beach. Have to take a boat and ? Amenities there. Does have a beautiful pool for families. Get 15% discount on drinks and buffet. Does offer buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. Basic choices, boring. They use "Fun 4 All" for Tours. 70 people with no leg room. They ran 3 different language tours with one guide. She did speak 3 languages on the tour but sometimes hard to catch it all. Felt we didn't get enough info. By the time 70 people got off the bus she was a block away talking in another language. Missed it at every stop. 12 hour Algrave tour and 2.5 hours did from a smaller bus to the bigger but that was already 90% full. The time spent (1.25 hr each way)5on the smaller bus had no guide and would have liked to know about that part of the country too.

Two of those were from the Pestana group, but the Pousada de Tavira was probably the most disappointing, I had to leave a day early do to the new covid restriction in Portugal. I had booked for three nights which I payed for up front, after staying only two nights they would not refund me one night even though it was because of the result of covid, it was also to expensive considering if was off season and the buffet was probably the worst I had on my entire trip. For the cost the room was small.
