The interior is very nice and as I had arrived just after noon I had my choice of tables. I sat by the window for a nice view out onto the street. While I was waiting for my meal I was served a bowl of warm flatbreads (apparently made in-house) and a little bowl of olives. The main course I opted for was adana kofte served with rice and salad. The lamb was cooked on skewers which are then removed before serving leaving two perfect pooh-shaped sausages on the plate. And very tasty it was too despite the slightly off-putting appearance. The salad was very nice and a generous portion too. I just about managed to finish my meal (washed down with a glass of tango) despite the flatbreads almost having filled me up. The bill arrived along with a small, but greatly appreciated, cube of turkish delight. Service and ambiance was excellent, I look forward to returning and trying something a little less pooh-shaped.

As the restaurant only has 40 covers, it is essential that you book on Friday and Saturday evenings especially, otherwise you won't get in! A beautifully-designed restaurant in non-fussy but distinctly Turkish style, the piece-de-resistance has to be the open grill and original Turkish oven, where you can see your food being freshly prepared and cooked before you. Watching them kneading and preparing the bread mixture is rather hypnotic, you need to be careful you don't lose track of time. The menu is simple with a good range of choices for starter, main and dessert. The wine list is, again, simple but offers good choices - nothing too classy, just good-priced clean-tasting wines which will complement your chosen dishes perfectly. I don't think you will find fault with any dish that you choose - but if you haven't tried it before, try one of their guvec (Turkish stew) dishes. Ahhhh yummy!! If you have a special occasion, do let the owner know in advance. It is a family-run restaurant and you definitely get that warm, welcoming feel as you enter - no matter how busy, you'll never know that from the very high service standards. Be warned 'tho - you get "nibbles" while they are preparing your starters - so that, in itself, is always another starter on top of what is heading your way ... make sure you wear elasticated waistbands! He restricted bookings to 4 tables a night to follow coronavirus precautions. We wondered how they had coped during this pandemic but, as he said, they did take-away as soon as it was allowed. Chicken kebab with all the trimmings for my partner and the chefs special of Creamy Chicken Guvec for me. Small pieces of slow cooked chicken in the chefs cream sauce with mushrooms, asparagus, onions and peppers. That dish is 'to die for'. So filling though. Finishing off with coffee, medium sweet Turkish for me. As if that wasn't enough, out of the kitchen came a plate of cake, with candle, and ice cream for my partners birthday with a bunch of flowers. What made it really special was seeing Gizem, Huseyins wife. That wonderful beaming smile of hers was accentuated by the fact that a new waiter was in the offing in a few months time. Although entree portions were large, we managed to split a Sutlac for dessert. Very tasty. I would definitely recommended as both the service and general experience were incredible. We got to meet and spend a little time with the owners - which was a memorable touch.
