"An attorney's job is to take something simple, and complicate it". Anon…read more I am not a fan of the legal profession. That is until Elizabeth Rivera came along. She is an island of ethics in a wasteland devoid of honor. She is an almost unheard of find...an honest, caring, and truly outstanding Attorney at law. Why such an intelligent and principled person like Ms. Rivera chose to lie with a nest of vipers is a question only she can answer. But I'm certainly glad she did, for she is what they fear most; a sincerely decent human being who can play ball in their park... and win. It was a case concerning a predator lender trying to wrongfully foreclose on a reverse mortgage they held. The defendant was a 72-year-old single woman, with MS and onset Alzheimer's disease, who subsisted on Social Security. I spent months trying to find a law firm to represent her...to no avail. But it wasn't just law firms that backed away from aiding her; other deniers included the Florida State Attorney General's Office, Legal Aid, Legal Services, the Federal Consumer Protection Bureau, and even the ACLU. And then, just one month away from the trial date, I had the good luck to find Tiller & Rivera Law. Elizabeth Rivera not only took the case, but she also did it at a price my sister could actually afford. In fact, I would venture to say it is highly doubtful that Ms. Rivera made a dime on this case; she probably lost money by taking it. Proving to me that there is at least one noble person left in the world after all. No, I'm not fond of the legal profession. But now, I'm a fan of at least one attorney.

We do not tell clients what they want to hear but what they need to hear, otherwise, we feel we are doing nothing but a disservice. We do our best to return all phone calls and emails the same business day but never later than the close of business the following day. We treat our clients exactly how we would want to be treated if we hired a professional with respect, honesty, and fairness, and that is why our firm's client base is mostly from word of mouth referrals. People often come to us during a very stressful time in their lives. We love knowing that clients leave our office with a feeling of peace like they have a good plan of action and someone they trust to walk them through their situation. Hearing the words "you have made me feel so much better" is the best part of our day!

After finding myself in a legal financial mess I placed a call to Mr. Klein to discuss my options. Not only did Eric take my call, he then spent a considerable amount of his own time speaking on the phone with me (I ask a lot of questions.) Mr. Klein was professional, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter. He was patient with me and took a genuine interest in wanting to help. This is what makes him stand out above the rest, I hung up the phone feeling empowered and in control of my situation. I would strongly encourage anyone in similar shoes to give Klein Law Group a call, you will not be disappointed.

The attorney moved to withdraw on his own immediately after, but I was accidentally CC'd on an internal email that made me uncomfortable. Absolutely horrendous, nightmare experience with these people. The absolute worst communication I…read morehave ever experienced with any company, ever. I have received better communication from minimum wage fast food workers. You would think communication might be a priority for something that the client's LIVELIHOOD DEPENDS ON. Horrendous communication aside, surprises and curveballs at every single corner of this process. Do you enjoy waking up each morning wondering if you might owe an estate a surprise $5K (THAT YOU DON'T HAVE BECAUSE YOU ARE FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY)? Do you enjoy casual emails and voicemails indicating that you owe thousands of dollars that you do not have completely out of left field? Oh, but it does not end there my friends. Once you finally grind this painstaking process all the way out to your discharge, your lawyer will drop an absolute bomb on you, months later, indicating that you still owe funds to the estate. No indication of what it's for, no dollar amount. As I write this, I allegedly owe the estate somewhere between $1 and $1 billion that I do not have, MONTHS AFTER MY DISCHARGE, for reasons unknown. Thanks Natalie! And right on cue, absolute crickets from this joke, scam artist company, as I sit here having a full on mental breakdown due to my decision to go with Van Horn Law Group. If you do make the terrible decision to use Van Horn Law Group, just know - when your discharge letter comes in the mail. When you sigh that glorious sigh of relief. When the nightmare is finally over. Just know, the nightmare does not end. Apparently, the nightmare, the nonsense, the disorganization, the surprises, the blow after blow after blow to you financially as you stumble over yourself trying desperately to get back on your feet. As you take 1 step forward and five steps back. This nightmare will haunt you for all of eternity. This is not a knee-jerk review. I have been EXTREMELY patient with VHLG, as I write this 8 months after starting this process with them. I am the most proactive, get it done person, and uploaded all 150+ documents that were requested immediately, and in a highly organized manner. They will lose documents that you upload to their own portal, and fail to submit them for your 341 meeting, and then have the audacity to ask you to re-send them, as they sit right in their own portal, as requested by THEM (I even sent screen-shots of them, right where they should be). I was very fortunate the the document they failed to submit to the court was only a 2-year old tax return, and the court allowed this to submit it without delay. If this was something more substantial, it could have delayed my process months, and potentially ruined my life as I was only days away from moving out of state. I got very lucky following Van Horn Law Group's disorganization and complete lack of care. Will you be so lucky? The office will tell you absolutely anything to get you off the phone. "She's in a meeting, but she will call you in an hour." An hour and a half goes by, and I call again. "She's currently reviewing your case, and will call you in a few minutes." This will go on and on all day, until finally "Well, it's past 5:00 now, so she will call you tomorrow." WAS IT AFTER 5 WHEN I CALLED AT NOON, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4:30???? And this is not a single occurrence. In fact, I have not ONCE been called back during the window I was told in my 8 months of dealing with this firm. We are talking about a 40 - 50 time sample size. Paralegals will casually delay extremely important milestones by a MONTH at a time VIA TEXT MESSAGE, because the person working on your case decided to go on vacation. Nothing is anyone's responsibility there. If VHLG makes an error and needs you to re-send something, you'll get the workaround, and told "I don't handle that, you need to send it to X" a dozen times. You'll be told conflicting and opposite information from any two people you talk to. I could honestly write a book, but if you're still reading, I think you get the idea. My decision was based on the positive reviews. I swear to god these are all bots. PLEASE READ THE 1 STAR REVIEWS BEFORE CHOOSING THESE CLOWNS, because my experience is a carbon copy of every 1 star review I am now reading. If you are a masochist, or if your mental health is simply too good, and you would like to bring that down a notch or 10, Van Horn Law Group is your firm! UPDATE: I have since been told that (as I presumed) yet ANOTHER error has been made, and the trustee claimed that they never received a check from my tax return. Again, absolutely horrendous internal communication, as I provided all the proof anyone could ever need that this payment was submitted. It took me 3 minutes to recover 10+ documents proving that not only was the check sent and received, but CASHED the second it was received. Unbelievable. It. Never. Ends.

Consultation was with a lady that sounded like she just came off her lunch break and couldn't care less to speak with me about my consultation. They appeared to have good ratings but I have no clue how. They sent me a link to pay and sign the contract which I did the same day. Money cleared my bank account immediately. I thought cool as I was leaving on vacation and didn't want to have something extra to worry about. Days later I check my email to see if I had gotten some correspondence from my law team or questions for me to create my case profile. NOPE nothing the whole week- nothing but crickets. No welcome email, no portal access, no phone calls to inquire about me and the case, and not notice of representation. I wait a few more days which put me now at 10 days after taking my money and signed contract. Still absolutely nothing but silence and crickets. Talk about law firm . I call their office, and inquire about my case being now over 10 days from payment and executed contract- where i am greeted by name and verified my email and case information. I asked what is happening- where I was explained that this law firm is very short staffed and my case likely has been passed over due to low staff.. really, you told me your firm is low staffed and passed over my case after all this time and taking my money? I asked to speak with someone higher up, where I was told someone would reach out to me. I wait 24 hours, guess what? No one called or emailed me back... so I sent another follow up email after 24 hours... and ding ding ding... again NO response..... With such red flag after red flag with Holland Law Group- all I wanted was representation of my debt defense a person to speak with. I fired Holland Law Group- terminated them officially. I found another law firm that actually gave me the communication and time. Explainers things to me. After paying and signing up- within 30 minutes had a welcome email and the intake coordinator calling for case information. All within 30 minutes. Holland Law Group will have you waiting and ghosted after taking your money and signed contract. So happy to fire them and would never ever recommend them to any one such horrible lack of communication. I have screen shots of all my sent emails and there lack of responses.
