While Uhland is a bit far from the centrum of Munich with bikes (which we brought) get you into town quickly. Free parking and the lack of hustle and bustle of the surrounding neighborhood make this hotel our go-to place for Munich.

Very easy to get to from the Munich Airport. Staff spoke English and German. Rooms are clean and cozy, plenty big enough for 2. The included buffet breakfast was excellent included eggs, sausages, fruits, breads/croissants, etc. You could also order coffees, including mochas and lattes, and hot chocolate. Great way to start the day. Our favorite part was the cookies and pretzels they left throughout the day. Every time we came back to the hotel we grabbed a few cookies. Delicious!

Besides, this hotel is in walking distance from many wonderful attractions and restaurants in Munich, so its cost is absolutely justified! The spa area with the pool was beautiful - kids are not allowed past 7pm (I think that's the cutoff)... unfortunately, there were some people who didn't like that time and brought loud kids in past 7, complaining to the spa staff that they didn't know the rule. The attached bar was nice with afternoon pastries and coffee. I would also recommend trying out the breakfast - the selection was fantastic and as someone who doesn't eat pork (in Bavaria, I know that's crazy...), it was great to see the vegan options for sausage.

Lots of Nutella if you want it and pastries were plentiful. The room was clean and they did forget to replenish our washcloths a few days, boo. We hardly turned on the TV, but the screen was a large one. The staff was awesome and super helpful whenever you needed it. You can walk to Old Town in about 15 to 20 minutes and Munich is a wonderful city to visit.

My room in particular showed its age: the carpets were stained and there was even trash on the floor when I arrived (see photos). That level of cleanliness is simply unacceptable. I only stayed one night, and given the condition of the room, I would not choose to stay here again.

We arrived about 10:30am, which is way before normal check in time but they had a room that was open and allowed us to check in early. That was really great because I don't sleep well on planes and I really needed a few hours to rest before checking things out. The hotel is conveniently located right by the train station, so getting around is pretty easy. It took about 15 minutes to get down to the toursity area of the city. Not too bad, but we could have been a little closer. The hotel bar downstairs was nice, but a super bright in the evenings. It made it a less relaxing. Overall, this hotel was nice and a reasonable accommodation for the price.

The hotel itself is clean, classic, and absolutely stunning. The decor was beautiful, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. When traveling internationally it is always a fear that you might feel on edge, but at the Charles we felt so safe and taken care of. The concierge had insights on where to go for Christmas markets and eat in the area as well as knowledge about local transportation. They also offered a car service so that we could have a flexible day trip over to Austria. The location is also perfect to walk to Marienplatz and several other attractions nearby. They have great room service and accommodated every request AND MORE. And don't even get me started on the Florio restaurant. It was delicious! For the holidays they had special decorations and offerings which included a pre fixe meal at their Michelin rated restaurant the Florio. Breakfast was also included everyday which was PERFECT. We also received some sweet hospitality gifts from the staff. We are extremely thankful for the Charles as they played an immense part in making our trip fantastic! It's quite large and located right in the center of Munich right across from a beautiful park. The entire staff that we encountered was extremely polite and very accommodating. The restaurant in the hotel was absolutely wonderful and we dined there for breakfast each morning for free. It was a great start to the day. We also ordered room service many times and every single time it was consistently very good. This hotel has many amenities such as a spa and meeting rooms and other things we did not utilize, but it's great to know that they are there. Pricing is also fair in my opinion, there are a lot cheaper places around Munich, but this one really delivers. The only issue that we had is that the air conditioning in the night seemed to almost turn off, so it got quite warm in the room from midnight to 6 AM but still we had a great stay and I would happily stay here again next time I'm in Munich which I hope is pretty soon.
