On the plus side I got a really nice reliable little car eventually On the minus side 1 Had to ask several times for paperwork after the sale 2 So many broken appointments to deliver the car - it would always be ready tomorrow Do u know that song If tomorrow never comes? 3 The day I did pick it up it was dirty and had no front wheel on they were still fitting it when I got there and the sales rep was half an hour late for work! 4 The full tank of petrol they promised didnt materialise Car only just made it to the garage 6 Come back for a full valet he said - still dried mud in the side of the door and glove compartment afterwards So for a nice reliable little car Yes they are good BUT dont expect anything else you will not get the wonderful checks that they promise I didnt even have an interior light bulb fitted Dont expect a full valet they dont understand cleaning here Do make sure you have something else to drive in the 3 - 4 weeks you will wait for it to arrive Dont expect it to be delivered as promised - you will need to go and collect it regardless of what they tell you Its still a good car at a good price

I took it for a test drive and all seemed well. 4 weeks later, I needed a new Head Gasket, a new Thermostat and something else in the engine (can't remember the name of that). I went back to the garage, and they promised to pay 1/2 the cost. Not heard a dickie bird since. I'm now £650 out of pocket....after 4 WEEKS!!!!1 I also saw a workman there patching up a hole in a bumper with Masking Tape, and then spraying over it to conceal it!! TAKE IT FROM ME, STAY WELL CLEAR!!!

At first, everything seemed to be fine. Then after a couple of days we all started noticing the smell. The smell of death. He completely and thoroughly cleaned the entire car, inside and out. Still the smell of death. The next thing that happened was that whilst driving along, £40 suddenly fell down from the steering column. Very strange. Then the whole car proceeded to fall apart, piece by piece. I think that by now, my unfortunate friend has had to spend more on fixing the thing than it actually cost him in the first place. Since owning my car for about 6 years I think I've been there twice for a service and 3 times for an MOT. I've found them to be reliable and efficient but haven't been there since I've found cheaper alternatives...apart from last year when they sent me a voucher for a free MOT. I think they wanted me back as a customer so I went and expected perhaps they might be slow because it was free - but they were very quick. I took it in and went for a wander round Avon Meads retail park - returned in an hour and they offered me a drink then 5 minutes later my car was ready. I was very pleased and would consider going back there, price dependent.

The first thing that set this place apart was that when Justin (one of the owners) came over and asked if we wanted some help, he actually understood 'I'm just browsing'! He left me to it, and said if I had any questions to give him a shout. I found two Clio's and wanted to know the differences between them; he was open and honest and understood that I wanted to go away and think about it, etc. I went back a few days later and despite the fact that a) the car was a good price already and b) he ended up making very little money on the car, as I had a tight budget he was flexible with the price. Don't presume they are easily beaten down though as this would be offensive to them because they KNOW their cars, and are always doing repairs on the cars they get in themselves and they buy the cars - they are so knowledgable and yet won't fob you off if you don't have a clue about cars - genuinely lovely people. Unfortunately Mr Car aren't well advertised - the reason for this being the guys were so busy they found it hard to keep a website updated - although they now seem to have one which is great - www.mrcar-bristol.co.uk - however just rock along and look at what they have as the website doesn't do them justice - they have around 20 cars at one time but the website only shows 3 or 4. Five months on and my little Clio is brilliant - the rear wiper broke yesterday and my first thought was to call Justin and ask for his recommendation for a local garage - he also let me know the rough cost and even checked to see if he could fix it for me. Hence my review today as I suddenly realised how helpful they are and I think people should know that genuine people exist out there, because there are so many dealers who will screw you over happily. It isn't clear to see from glance, but they do actually offer a large range of cars, and they say that if you can find the car you are looking for then they will find it for you. In addition, they also buy cars from customers. From the front, the establishment looks crowded and dated, however the service you receive is better than most garages. I did also find that some of the cars didn't have their price displayed on the dashboard which I found a little irritating. The staff at Staple Hill Motor Co. are extremely friendly and welcoming. They in no way pressure you to purchase anything, and don't hassle you while you are browsing which is important to me.
