Cut to present day Im in Copenhagen at a butcher shop highly recommended by Yelper AJ who lived here for a while and shopped here for his meats. Medisterapolese, merguez, bresolinni, were some of the meats we had to munch on outside in the square after hitting the cheese shop and bakery, a few doors down. The workers wear old school uniforms and hats to impart a time long past. Super helpful, I got into a discussion about the Medisterapolese with one butcher and I knew this place was going to be awesome. Is it weird that I can carry on a long convo with a butcher about the charcuterie arts? As predicted, fabulous meat products and it's also good to know my own butcher makes a very comparable product.

All 4 of us heard the server say, It's on us! After another 30 minutes we asked if we could at least get our salads which came out shortly after. Our meals came out 15-20 minutes later. Ribeye was tasty and fries were good but not exceptional as we had anticipated. We had to ask server for our desserts which we had ordered initially with the meal. The table was cleared and then our desserts came out. By this point we had been there about 2.5 hours. We told the server we were ready to leave and the check came. We said we thought the meals ( each couple shared one meal) were on them. The server said that we had been told only our drinks would be on them! One couple only drank water and the only thing comped for a 2 hour wait for food was for a Diet Coke and a lemonade. Certainly not what we were told. Will not be recommending Fleisch to other friends as it did not meet our expectations.

Flower stands with freshly cut flowers and an abundance of vegetable crates colored the exterior of the building's grounds. The enclosed building is made from beautiful glass and metal, with the inside feeling open and airy, making it feel a bit like a greenhouse with its natural lighting. We found an assortment of shops offering meats, condiments, pastries, baked goods, coffee, fresh seafood, pastas, prepared salads, sushi, lunch spots, cured meats, nuts, beer, wine, fresh herbs, sandwiches, caviar, ice cream, cheeses, housewares and gift items; quite the assortment here! The only thing that was difficult to find were non-food gifts for our friends that were actually made in Denmark. Most were manufactured overseas. We stopped and had a wonderful lunch at the very popular Hallernes Smørrebrød, seated at their bar. This market is definitely worth a visit.

Petra behind the till helped me out picking a fennel salami and we had a lovely chat about her store. A general good feeling, lovely storefront and interior just makes for a rest review! As a bonus, her store is right in between a cheese store and sourdough bakery. She also carries honeys, jams and other sides.

Yes, it smells when you walk in, but you quickly forget that when you look at all the great cheeses they carry. They also have a nice selection of different liver pates from a local butcher, olives, and interesting food items. But the best kept secret is that they actually make sandwiches! Yet, not only do they make them for ONLY 40 kr, they make them with pure love. Warming the bread while you handpick what kind of meat, cheese, and extras you want on your masterpiece, they then SLICE the meat right in front of you, carefully slice a heaping portion of your choice of cheese, and then the sandwich is topped off with the warm bread from their oven, and wrapped ever so nicely.
