I love IPCS in so many ways! I went to this school for nine years and was the part of the…read moregraduating class during the one year they decided to have a ninth grade. I first attended this school when it was located at the Kahakai Elementary School campus and transitioned to the IPCS campus. This school has a great way to get students involved with hands on learning and I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved this school! My favorite part of school was interest groups on Fridays, and the transition to mentorships in middle school on Fridays. I loved gardening with Ms. Krista and she taught me so much about the Hawaiian culture and the importance of the 'āina. I enjoyed doing school plays every year and my favorite play I participated in was Mulan Jr. I also loved my teacher Mrs. Bobb that taught me in fourth grade and all throughout middle school. She was a wonderful lady and always encouraged me to do my best. She took us on a surprise trip to O'ahu in fourth grade where we got to go to museums and even had the opportunity to ride in a limousine for the first time in my life! In middle school we went on a mystery trip to O'ahu to visit the USS Missouri and stayed on the ship for three days! There are countless times at Innovations that were once in a lifetime experiences and I am beyond blessed to have had the opportunity to attend such a great school. The teachers genuinely care about each student and encourage them to learn in many ways. I believe Innovations does a great job at incorporating both project-based learning and regular academic learning into their programs for students. The students I met at this school are still some of my best friends to this day and I will always cherish my friendships and memories from IPCS.

Waikoloa school is comparitively better than other public elementary schools on the island. I know…read morebecause I went there for a couple of years waaaay back when it opened. But forget that: this review is about the school as a skate spot. The school is chock full of slippery knee- to shin-high concrete benches. Some of the benches are really slippery, but you have to hunt around for them. I'm pretty sure theres some right up front by the admin building. There are also these big speed bump pyramids which are good as gap up gap down manual pads. The parking lot has a decent-sized grass gap thats about 5-or 6 feet with a foot and a half step down. Good for throwing a box, picnic table, or portable rail across. There is also a little tiny curb thats sloped like a kicker. Its only about 9 inches high, but the tiny transition is steep enough on it to actually get some pop. You can find that right by the parking lot gap. Theres a but more to it, but you have to search around. And don't skate there at too late at night or when school is in session. Be sure to park on the street or across Paniolo at that church. Do this so you dont get locked in by vindictive faculty. Overall, great potential for lines, and smooth pavement to cut down on noise when filming. If you're in the area and have a skate, give a lil sesh-won, szechuan.

I have one…read morechild that takes some SPED programs but he has been in the Keonepoko SPED preschool program since the age of 3. Keonepoko has been great at dealing with his situations. My other child has been going to school there since kindergarten and every teacher he has had has been very involved with his education. The staff is great and have always been kind and understanding (even when I have been a little irritated). I respect each of them because they work hard for the sake of the children and care about their well being and education.

Well, maybe not dat close, but within an easy 10-15 minute walk. I spent all 6 years here: coming in as a tiny kindergartener to graduating as a 5th grader. I remember Mr. Daimaru, my stinky 5th grade teacher (he smoked) who we used to call "Mr. Diarrhea" behind his back. :p Mrs. Aileen Fuke was my 3rd grade teacher and one of the most favorite teachers EVER; I was previously assigned to another teacher, but they pulled me & a few other kids from my class to help form her class. We were housed in the portable that used to be located next to the old computer room near the kindergarten building. Here I was, this dirt-poor, academically-challenged (i.e., I never do my homework most of da time), and bullied kid who had little going for her ... Mrs. Fuke was akamai (smart) enough to reward scholastic/personal achievements on a token economy basis (positive reinforcement technique). I flourished under her guidance and I'll never forget her for that. I wonder wea she stay at now?
