We especially enjoyed seeing the different details and content represented in the 52 provincial alcoves. We crisscrossed the canal as we watched rental boats paddle by, horse drawn carriages picked up and dropped off in plaza and the flamenco dancers, musicians and bubble makers. The short walk up to the second floor also provided another perspective to take it all in. Definitely one of the must sees while visiting Seville.

It was designed for the Ibero-American exhibit of 1929, and is made up of a large fountain, bridges and a canal. The intricate tile work known as azulejos are definitely awe-inspiring.. It depicts historical events and scenes from Spanish literature and mythology. This beautiful building was used as a back drop in Star Wars: Episode II as well as several other movies. If you are visiting Seville, this needs to be one of your first stops.

I sheepishly confessed that searching for "dulces de convento" sweets made by Spanish nuns was my inspiration to travel here! Monasteries have monks brewing beer, but nuns in convents baking sweets from ancient recipes seems much more divine! The Cordiales are shaped like delicious little dumplings of almond flour and lemon. We ate the whole box of Cordiales today and plan to return tomorrow. We also bought a bag of magdalenas, sugar-topped little cakes scented with orange for tomorrow's breakfast.

While at the Alcazar Palace waiting to be picked up by the tour bus, Las Setas was only 15 minutes away. Using the Google map, hurried thru the maze of people and stores, it was amazing to see this scene. I did not get a chance to visit the Roman ruins, fig tree or roof top walk way. Will be back to fully experience this area.

The lighting at night was a bit underwhelming as it seemed like some of the bulbs needed to be replaced? An archeological museum, Antiquarium, was located underneath which contained Roman ruins, mosaics and it was free to enter by showing your Alcázar ticket. At the ground level were restaurants but we did not enter. One level up was the more popular spot with the "I Sevilla" which attracted more people than we saw walking above on Las Setas. There was an admission to walk on the parasol but due to the rain and overcast weather we skipped it. Overall quick stop if you're visiting this area of Seville.
