I'm not very handy in repairing things, so I need to call on handymen fairly often. When using a…read morehandyman, I'm generally trying to determine if I can trust them to not overcharge me. I called on Eddie to figure out and fix a problem in my shower; the water did not get warm enough. He checked it out and told me he would need to tear out much of the tile to do the repair, and that I might want to consider retiling the whole shower. He also looked at my drain and told me it hadn't been installed correctly and should be redone. I had a plumber come by; he fixed the temperature issue with some inexpensive adjustments. I asked a second handyman to take a look at the drain; he said it looked fine. Possibly Eddie was right about either or both of these items, but my impression was that he was trying to get me to do some unnecessary work which would have cost me hundreds of dollars. I've never called on him again. The work he has done for me has been done professionally. I have no doubt he is a very capable handyman.
