I've visited Pacific Crest Gallery three times (twice in March and once in April), and the experiences were noticeably inconsistent in a way that felt uncomfortable. On my first visit, when I was dressed casually (hoodie and jeans), I was followed closely around the gallery. On later visits, when I was dressed more formally for dinner and evening activities, that behavior stopped. During those visits, I also observed the staff hovering closely over customers who appeared to be people of color or dressed more casually, while others were given more space. The overall demeanor felt stiff and curt, which added to the unease. On one visit, my niece and brother-in-law, both people of color, remarked that they felt uncomfortable and as if they were being watched in a way that discouraged them from staying. I also noticed some visitors leaving quickly after being closely monitored. Taken together, these experiences created an atmosphere that didn't feel welcoming or relaxed. A gallery should be a place where people can browse comfortably, and a more consistent and inclusive approach to customer interaction would make a big difference. It is important to note that the staff member in question was the same woman in each of these occasions. We won't give this shop another chance. read more

Wow, love love love this unique and artistic shop! I'm a sucker for anything resin and natural stone artwork and sure enough, I was able to find so many household items that really elevate the space. Their beautifully crafted kitchenware was to die for. They have a local artist that creates resin cutting boards and partial glazes on the edges that are devine. We purchased one cutting board; although I wanted one of each! I also found this super beautiful natural stone light to put in our living room. If my fiancé wasn't there to hold me back from grabbing everything, I probably would have LOL. Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate supporting local artists! read more

She found 2 that she like and the lady working there that day was very helpful and friendly to us. They had some nice pictures on the wall for sale, I didn't know about the no pictures even though it was posted on the white papers around the store. But the lady didn't kick me out and was very understanding, I did that before my fiancée was looking at the earrings. She found one that she like and got it. They had some amazing pictures that I would've got for my living room or bedroom but since I flew into Sacramento I didn't think it would fit in an airplane. read more

As others have stated in their reviews, there's a rude ass white lady that works here. My fiancé and I came in to browse and shop for potential Christmas gifts for our family today. I had my small loungefly disney backpack on at the time. This lady followed us the entire time we were in the store and was extremely rude and stuck up. She snapped at me and said my backpack was too close to her precious items. Mind you I wasn't anywhere dangerously close to the items and I was being mindful and respectful of the shop. There was no welcome in or how are you from this lady. Unless you're an elderly individual that dresses like you're rich, don't bother coming here because you won't be welcomed with open arms. Rip off!! The sales women was really sweet when wanted to sale, but now that she owes me money, she disappeared. I bought a $100 candle, then she told me that she could ship it to me for $25, so I decided to go ahead and do it, after SHE made a mistake counting the money, gave me my change, I did not bother to count it, but the same night I get a call from her saying that she gave me the wrong amount of money and that I needed to go back to give it to her again to complete the sale, so I decided to cancel my sale and get my money back, now conveniently she hasn't replied, it is not about the money she owes me, it is the lack of professionalism from both the owner and the sales team. read more

Told my 80 year old mother pushing a walker she had to wear a mask (who has legit health issues) ... meanwhile they were not wearing one because they were "behind plexiglass". Extremely rude experience at this shop. We stopped in because their forever candles caught our interest while walking by, primarily for a wedding gift. The woman explained the candles to us, the forever wick, fuel, etc. It caught my sister's attention as well who intended to buy a couple of the larger candles in addition. After bringing in the newlyweds to see if its something they'd like, they declined because tho it was nice, its candles weren't really their thing; so I decided to buy two of the smaller candles, $29.99 each and the light/illumination base, to test it out and if we liked it, we'd come back when we were in town next month to buy a couple of the larger ones... not to mention, my sister was still deciding on which ones she wanted to purchase... however because I decided to buy the two smaller candles, the woman got rude and said after all of that, you are only buying the small candles... after all of that??? I responded and said that we'd like to try it out and if we liked it, we'd be back next month when we're back in town... and her response was (was in a very rude manner) yeah, after all of that you're only buying the small candles? As if it was an inconvenience to her to do her job and explain the product. My sister was planning to make her purchase after we completed ours but instead, we all walked out as I would never spend my money at an establishment that treats their customers in this manner. It's really unfortunate because had she been professional and not been rude to potential customers, we would have purchased a lot more than two $29.99 candles. Would give zero stars if possible. I was completely taken back by the level of rudeness the lady in this store displayed. After being in the store for a couple minutes I was responding to a text message and this woman who I believe was named Rose got very upset with me accusing me of taking photos and telling me that I was committing "copyright infringement". My phone was not lifted or pointed towards anything so I have no idea why she even thought I was taking a photo in the first place. I even mentioned her to a store owner in the same building and they knew exactly who I was talking about. They said they had trouble with her as well. I know that shops up in this area or in it for a profit in the lease is high but I spent way too much on the cutting board not only that it has a flaw in the bottom left corner on the finish! I spent $180 for this cutting board in the gallery they said an artist did it I should've looked it up before buying it. Because the Company's retail price is $99 and change. I spent cash and did not receive a receipt it also says all sales are final upon check out. I would be happy to return this buy off the website. But unfortunately I would be losing out on more money since I live down in Reno and not Tahoe. Make sure you look up anything and check other prices before buying it out of this scam shop. Due to my experience and what I've witnessed I am not going to recommend purchasing anything from this business. This is a lovely shop with fun/unique items. I live in Rhode Island and was on vacation visiting my sister. I purchased a cute turquoise 'leather' bag that included a smaller matching purse. I have not been home a week and the zipper on the purse has broke. The zipper will move back and forth but the teeth will not engage and close any longer. My sister just spoke to a sales rep and they want me to send the purse back on my dime. I already spent $80 and don't feel like I should also have to pay to send something back. I would have thought they would at least offer to pay for the shipping back to them! Now that I think back, no wonder she was pushing the bags heavily...Not very good customer service!!!!! read more

I found a stunning photo of a waterfall in Emerald Bay of South Lake Tahoe. Liz spoke with me and she was relaxed, informative, and helpful with many other facts about the local attractions of Lake Tahoe. When I got home and saw that my canvas printed photo was scratched from the ride home. It was wrapped well and I took care to load it carefully one some cloth but somehow it still got damaged. I strongly agree with other reviewers that the staff is extremely rude. We had such a poor experience here buying a pair of earrings. The blonde woman (I think she might be the owner) who walks around like she's the greatest gift on earth is aweful to deal with. She should not be working in customer service. She was unprofessional and treated us like we were inconveniencing her. I should have just bought the earrings directly from the artist's website. She sold me the earrings with no earring backs, then when I came back and asked for some she gave me quite the crusty look. When I asked for a small bag to put them in so they wouldn't get lost, she gave me a small little bag with a HOLE in it. They immediately fell out onto the floor and she just walked away. The kicker is the earring backs don't even fit the earrings. Lady, give up the act, I've spent alot more money on jewelry in way nicer galleries than yours. read more

My wife and I bought over $600 of forever candles. The new lady who just started the day we were there was great. The owner seemed a bit stanoffish. None the less we bought these and were told they would ship within 2 weeks and please don't call them before 3 weeks. Well we contacted them on the day after the third week and were told they would contact us that day. Never got a call back. Didn't get one the next day or next either. We called yesterday and were told the supplier was off for the holiday and would call us back today. No calls again. Horrible follow up. I'd give 1 star but we really liked the new employee and she made the visit into store worthwhile. Must be nice to run your business this way. Guess we weren't considered worthy of any follow up. They also have these wonderful wall pieces that are topological reliefs of bodies of water, including Lake Tahoe. I plan to return to buy one of those once I make some wall space. Rude rude rude staff!!!! My husband and I went in to browse. We picked out a small decoration to purchase and continued to walk around. The cashier walked by us and asked if we needed help. We said no thank you, we are just browsing. Her response was quite snotty and condescending. We went to pay and she asked us "just a sign"? We should have put it down and walked away. We continued on and my husband pulled out his debit card. She then said you need to pay cash if it's under $20. No apology or "sorry for the inconvenience but..." She then rang it up and barely said thank you. Now in contrast, the people before us purchased a piece of art and she was very friendly and welcoming. Just know, if you aren't ready to throw down $500 for an 8" x 8" overpriced piece of art, you will be treated like the trash in their garbage! read more

We have been in the Gallery a number of times on visits to South Tahoe over the past few years. Rose and staff are extremely helpful, and thoughtful. We did not feel rushed to make a quick decision. After several visits, we recently purchased a fairly expensive Dunn-Harr from the gallery and there was one on display. Rose ordered a new one, and framed it exactly the way we wanted it. She is good to make suggestions on what will look good with the artwork, and in your setting. She shipped the item to us well packed, and just as we had anticipated. I have visited this gallery several times and have found their mix of art enjoyable. From Lake photography to paintings, photo-art and jewelry the mix changes with the seasons, so I make it a point to visit quarterly. I have always found this gallery to be very low key and friendly in their approach - unless they are super busy, you will always receive a warm welcome upon entering, along with asking if they can be of service. If you tell them that you are just browsing, then they will honor your implied request and let you take in the art in peace. I've seen other times when a staff member, having not greeted you due to dealing with other customers, will come to you and, along with asking if she can be of assistence, will take note of what you are looking at and volunteer information about the artist (most of whom are local). I've found this low pressure tactic to be delightful as it adds another level to my enjoyment of what's on the walls. read more

From awesome pictures of bears serving coffee to some of the most unique chips and salsa bowls you've ever seen, I wish I had the checkbook to stuff my cupboards with all the kitchen bowls with this place has to offer. A great place to grab a classy host/hostess gift or a piece of gorgeous memorobilia of your vacation in Tahoe. This gallery is the best art gallery in all of the Tahoe Area. Whenever I visit the area, I always drop in. I am disappointed to see some ladies such as Nikki, Chelsey, and Karen (below) had an unpleasant time here, but it seems like they were not willing to learn what the staff had to offer. This gallery is not going to please everyone - but no gallery will, and in fact, having been a patron of many galleries, this gallery is going to be the best service you've ever seen. However, if you're expecting to be pampered and/or have your ear talked off once you walk in the door and sold utter cow shit with a silver spoon then you may have a similar experience to what Nikki, Chelsey, and Karen had. No ladies, I SMH at you. In fact, I enjoy that the women do not pounce on me when I walk in. Isn't it novel that someone could walk in and silently enjoy looking at art without be up-sold in the first 15 seconds of being in a gallery!?! Though, truly the women who run and own this gallery know their business very well, and work hard to maintain the gallery. I admire and respect this shop because it has a little something for everyone. The owner is invested in representing local artists which truly capture an authentic experience for Lake Tahoe. No one else does this in the area. If you want commercial trash, feel free to stop by Marcus Ashley or Wyland, where the staff have been brainwashed and overly excitable because they'd like to take your money given their commission rate and could care less about whether or not you like the art. It's absolutely true. If you want to go to Lake Tahoe and invest in art, then purchase something that supports the local economy at Pacific Cret and isn't made in a factory. These women are knowledgeable and have been working in art for nearly a decade, which says a lot because so many little stores have not made it over the past decade because of the economy. AND THESE women sell art. They always support my purchasing decisions whether it be about a rug, a photographic piece, a painting, or a pair of earrings. They are also very active in the community and have offered me great advice on dining. The gallery has beautiful jewelry, (UNO jewelry), plus other unique styles. They also have beautiful art, unique candles, housewares, etc. I would highly recommend that you stop by. I visit the gallery every time we go up to Tahoe. I was visiting South Lake Tahoe and decided to check out the shops. When I walked in I noticed two women, one sitting and the other one leaning against the counter. They said nothing to me. This could be because the were too busy being extremely rude to a gentleman offering them a stay at the Peppermill. Instead of kindly telling him there is no soliciting here, they were very rude, embarrassing and cutting him off by saying are you going to tell me what your deal is? Then scolded him for soliciting! I guess there is a reason I was the only customer in there. I didn't even get a chance to look at the art work because I was so offended for him. BUYER BEWARE! My husband and I have had two bad experiences with this gallery. The most recent was when we found a framed piece of art. When we went to purchase the item, the saleswoman (stout older blonde woman), said she could get one out of the back which was already packaged in plastic. We declined saying that we liked this particular one. We had looked at another one that was hanging on the wall but didn't like the frame. So she said she would wrap it up and we could pick it up later. We paid for the item and later went back to pick it up. I noticed that the frame looked different and asked her about it. She looked uncomfortable and said she had only one other and showed me the one on display (basically lied). We took the piece home and decided it was not the piece we had picked out. My husband went back to the store to return it. Another salesperson offered to help him. He explained what had transpired and she said there was another one in the back, brought it out and it was the piece we had originally picked out! When my husband confronted the other saleswoman she lied again by saying that she had left it in the back for someone else to wrap up. The other incident was similar. We picked out a oil candle as a gift. The same older blonde woman helped us that time too. She said she had one boxed up. When we got home I pulled it out and it was defective so had to go back to get a refund. We gave the store the benefit of the doubt at that time not realizing the salespeople are not trustworthy! We have learned our lesson and will not shop there again. read more
