We toured the place twice and had all of our questions answered in detail by the owner, Alona. The place is very clean and welcoming. There are three teachers for 12 kids which I think is amazing given the prior experience of other daycares where there were two or even one educator for a group of children. Bilingual daycare: predominantly Ukrainian and English languages. All three teachers (Alona, Vlada and Olga) speak Ukrainian which is a big bonus. Our main language of communication at home is English, it was important to me that my daughter is surrounded by Ukrainian culture and language at daycare. There are three home cooked meals per day, I mean HOME COOKED, not snacks but full fresh meals. Lots of variety as well, love that my kid gets soup daily for lunch. Diapers are changed often, more than once every two hours. This was very important to me to make sure my child doesn't get any diaper rashes and stays dry and clean. You do provide your own diapers and wipes to keep on site which I prefer since my child has sensitive skin and I send her with one specific brand of diapers and wet wipes only. They potty train your child. We noticed right away, first week of attending daycare, that our daughter started to communicate and ask to go "potty" on the toilet. They have music lesson on Fridays, piano and violin! The spend lots of time outside and make sure to dress children properly according to weather. They make sure to put a warm jacket, hat, shoes etc on each student when it's cold before heading in the backyard area. Variety of games, crafts, physical and educational activities. Themed dress up days and fun activities like bounce house which my daughter greatly enjoyed. They have structure and follow daily routine that kids get adjusted too. We noticed positive new behaviors from our two year old. And absolutely NO tv! she gets plenty at home ;) The owner is very responsive and timely in communication. Provides daily updates and pictures/videos. Bonus- moms nights and the owner, Alona, is an amazing cook! Moms got to enjoy her cooking skill as well. ;) You can really tell that Alona really enjoys what she does. Every morning when we ring the doorbell, she opens the door with a smile radiating warmth and positivity. I can't recommend this daycare enough, they have a waitlist but it's worth the wait! It's truly a gem. Your child will be in great hands. .

Long story: Little Star Preschool Too was my top choice from the beginning when I was touring preschools. I was delighted to see the campus (plenty of parking spots, quiet neighborhood, residential location and close to restaurants for afterschool pick up)! The preschool is large and has a huge yard for the children to play in during "recess" and at the end of the day. I think the actual amount of land they have for a school is impressive as the children are able to get their wiggles out without having to travel to a local park. While I was dazzled by the tour of the campus, I was absolutely amazed by the teachers and staff! They are all genuinely loving and greatly care about the well-being of the children! I am always greeted with a smile by each of the staff members during drop off. My child has so much fun playing with her peers and the large variety of toys, doing daily arts and crafts, eating their provided lunch and learning new subjects! She took a little bit of time to warm up to being in school and her teacher was so patient with her, spending extra time with her to help her transition. Other teachers and staff would step in to help out too if her teacher was not immediately available for help. Not only does the school teach "regular subjects" like letter recognition and counting, they also teach real life skills like what streetlights and stop signs are used for! (The school had a cute field trip around the neighborhood teaching the children about road safety). There are also a lot of extra features added to the curriculum to help enrich the children's education. There were dance performances, field trips, readings from books regarding different cultural festivals and traditions. The school is just so awesome and I am very happy with my choice. Thumbs up!

I appreciated that Little Star Preschool encouraged multiple playdate visits before he officially started, so that he could get used to the space and staff. All of the teachers were kind, patient, and gentle with him as he transitioned from a small daycare to preschool. They allowed him time to adjust and let him just observe at first, as he preferred, while holding onto his stuffy. His language skills have really exploded (I love hearing him repeat, "Wake up, little bodies!") and I know he's cared for while learning and playing.

We had inquired at several preschools for our son - ended up on the waitlist for some, one never even responded back to me, and others just didn't quite fit our budget or our schedule, which in the end worked out perfectly for us. When we moved to the border of Sunnyvale and Mountain View, I started my search again and through Yelp, found Community First School. When I first inquired, there was waitlist for my son's age. But by the time I finally was able to take tour, fortunately a couple spots had opened up. We love this school and most importantly, our son LOVES this school. Every day, he comes home talking about what he learned that day (we don't even have to ask). He gets fed, he's made a bunch of friends, gets plenty of outside time, and we never have to worry about him. One of the best parts of this school is an app that they utilize to keep us informed of what the kids have done during the day. Also, communication between the school and the parents is awesome! If you are fortunate enough to be able to send your kid(s) here, I would recommend not to hesitate. My only regret is that I wish I sent him here sooner!

Our biggest concern was his food, as we were working on helping him gain weight. Thankfully, we came across Ms. Yesha's daycare, and enrolling him there turned out to be one of the best decisions our family has made. After reading the positive reviews, we scheduled a tour. The visit convinced us even more that this was the right place for our son. Ms.Yesha took the time to explain what a typical day looks like and showed us the kitchen, where fresh food is prepared in-house for the children. Our son immediately started exploring the play area and felt comfortable right away. Ms.Yesha patiently answered all our questions, and when we shared our concerns about his eating habits, she assured us that he would be well taken care of. Today, our son actually looks forward to going to daycare every day! He is trying new foods, becoming more independent, and growing more confident in expressing himself. One thing I particularly appreciate is the focus on activities that support his overall development. We were not able to spend time consistently at home to help him practice holding a pencil, drawing, or doing art activities. Ms.Yesha incorporates activities that help develop fine motor skills, and I can really see the difference. My son is now able to sit with focus and concentration and try to draw or create something on his own. We also love the variety of activities included in their curriculum, such as prayer time, public speaking, daily exercises, dancing, sand play, and other fun, engaging activities. My son can spell numbers from one to ten, sing a variety of shlokas, and speak much more confidently. It has been wonderful to see his growth--not just academically, but also socially, physically, and personally. Another thing we really appreciate is that Ms.Yesha shares videos of the children's daily activities with parents. It gives us a wonderful glimpse into his day and helps us stay connected with what he is learning and enjoying, even when we can't be there. We are truly grateful to Ms.Yesha and her team for the care, attention, and nurturing environment they provide. If it weren't for the need to move her on to preschool, we would happily let her stay here forever! This may not be the newest or fanciest daycare in the neighborhood, but it is always very clean, organized, and well run. The sick policy is also more flexible compared to chain daycares, where even minor symptoms can mean at least 24 hours at home. Surprisingly, during these two years my daughter has been sick fewer than five times. Both teachers, Nicole and Sandy, are absolutely fantastic. Sandy is incredibly caring and patient--she comforts the little ones by holding them, feeding them when needed, and soothing them to sleep during naps. Thanks to her, my daughter only cried for about 10 minutes on her very first morning, and after that she was happy to come every single day. Nicole is a wonderful educator--always energetic and engaging. My daughter has learned so much here, from Chinese and English colors, shapes, animals, and numbers, to singing many songs in both languages. When we went on preschool tours, one admissions officer even joked that she already knows enough to start kindergarten! Ally also goes above and beyond with communication. Each Sunday we receive the weekly lunch menu, and every day we get photos of meals and many snapshots of daily activities. Breakfast and dinner are also available if needed. At pickup time, parents receive a detailed daily report on paper, which we really appreciate. Overall, we couldn't recommend Ally's daycare more highly. The teachers that we were assigned were wonderful. They inspired both children by being wonderful role models and making learning fun. There were practical applications of lessons such as playing town and learning to write checks (4th grade). Parents were very involved and were wonderful. We attended the science fair which was both engaging and a lot of fun for the whole family. Both kids always looked forward to going to school each day and when their time here was up, they were really sad to leave. This school has similar logistical problems as other schools such as student pick up and drop off. There are parents who should have left 5 minutes earlier than they did, so they take it out on others by acting impatient or not waiting for people in crosswalks... which is especially bad if you drop off and pick up by the entrance to the Jr. High. Speaking of parking, if you do use the entrance near the Jr. High, please use the church parking lot and do not violate the 'No parking' signs in the residential neighborhood. surrounding the school. They are there because those are narrow streets and when too may people park there, emergency vehicles couldn't get through. It's happened and someone almost died. The neighborhood surrounding the school does have people with health conditions, are aging, etc, so please have respect for your fellow community members that are the most vulnerable. Your perceived (illegal) convenience is not worth someone losing their life because an ambulance or fire truck couldn't get through. Please also don't park IN people's yards. Not cool. And hey, if you don't want to do it out of respect, do it because you will get stuck if in their muddy yards if you do and you may have to pay for a tow truck. It's not worth it and you didn't save any time doing it. To add to the list of things that people shouldn't be doing but they do it anyway... Stop your car when you see people crossing the road. It's a school zone and it take the 3-10 seconds to wait while you are stopped. That's it. Not minutes. Seconds. That's all. You aren't making up any time by rolling at pedestrians and you are willfully putting someone's family at risk. Don't be a nincompoop, just stop. Again, leave a little early and you won't have a problem finding parking. If you can't leave early, just arrange a late pick up meeting area. I did this with my kids and I promise you that it works out just fine. There is also a school bus (check if you are on their route) and there are after school programs that will pick up your kids and hold them until you can get there. You have options. Take a deep breath and do the right thing. Thank you to SLE for the memories before we start the next chapter in our life.
