The clinic is nice and clean but still offers a "homey" vibe that doesn't smell or make you feel like you're in a doctors office. Staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Our family have been coming to Dr. Watanabe and Pacific Family Dental for years. Last minute appointments are honored whenever they can be, and I have utilized this on more than one occasion when an old filling fell out or had a crack in my tooth. Dr. Watanabe is a kind, compassionate, and down-to-earth dentist, who gives you information and options for any procedure. He won't fill a cavity just to fill his pockets. If you aren't feeling any discomfort and it is tiny, Dr. Watanabe will just tell you that it can wait if you like. He is quick and when I say "painless" I am boasting about this from a patient standpoint of someone who is not fond of needles and usually has great anxiety at dentists. Denise is my Dentist Technician who cleans my teeth. She is also tremendously kind and gentle. It is a pleasure to see her and the rest of the staff. If I were to have any hesitation about giving 5 stars, it would be my own personal issue with the Christian music they pipe through the office 24/7. It is not my cup of tea and it feels invasive to me, being not of the same belief system. Dr. Watanabe is great. All of his staff is friendly and willing to address concerns either in person or over the phone. They are also great with kids! I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. Dr. Watanabe and his staff have been seeing them since they were 3 and 1 respectively. They are incredibly patient and kind. I have been coming to Pacific Family Dental every six months for 8 years now and have never been disappointed. The staff here are the most friendly I have met anywhere and it's honestly a shame that they work in my mouth because I wish I could just chat with them all day. They go out of their way to make sure I am comfortable. When I was pregnant, they even offered an extra cleaning. Everything about Pacific Family Dental is great. They even give out Oral-B toothbrushes, which are kind of pricey at the store. Had my first visit with Pacific Family Dental this morning. They were great! I was greeted at the front and taken back to the exam room prior to my appointment time. The dental assistant did a great job on my cleaning. I had been given a treatment plan from another dentist that included a crown. The dentist here said that the temporary fix put on by another dentist was still holding strong and that I didn't need the $1300 procedure. He said we should keep an eye on it and is content with looking at it again during my next checkup in 6 months. Upon checkout, the receptionist gave me a detailed explanation of the treatment plan, projected costs, and what they expected my insurance to cover. They also have a great website with patient log-in that allows you to easily schedule and track appointments. 5 stars all the way! read more

Conveniently location near Salt Lake Target, the NEX, Navy Hale Keiki Elementary and Radford High School, Pacific Family Dental and Dr. Watanabe was a great choice for me and my daughter. First of all I truly would have never discovered the place without an awesome recommendation from a friend, it truly is a hidden gem. Beside a recommendation from a friend I definitely had to check out the yelp reviews and was so happy to read all the positive things people had to say, it really made a big difference in me actually picking up the phone to set up an appointment, especially because I have a 3 year old daughter who I want only pleasant feelings towards going to the dentist/ getting her teeth checked. I called the office early January to set up an appointment, at first I got the answering machine but I left my name and number and they got back to me right away. Fortunately for me there was a cancellation and I was able to book a cleaning the next week along with a check up for my daughter on a different day. My cleaning went well the hygienist was very nice and my first impression of Dr. Watanabe was wow he has nice teeth but then again I don't think I ever met a dentist that didn't have nice teeth (lol). I also received a box of 3D white whitestrips for being a new client which is pretty awesome and went on my merry way. What really impressed me with this facility was when my daughter had her check up. I brought her in more for her to get use to seeing a dentist. I want her to only have positive thoughts about seeing her dentist and to develop good dental hygiene. We show up to the appointment and when she was called in, I was allowed to join her in the back (which is a must for me). She sat on the chair and Dr. Watanabe greeted her. Dr. Watanabe also took the time to explain his tools and why he had a head light on to my 3 year old. After the check up she was allowed to pick a toy from their treasure box. Then Dr. Watanabe and I talked about her teeth and ways to promote good hygiene and toothbrushing which was very informative. What I loved most about our conversation though was behind the dental chair was a small kids table where my daughter sat and colored while we talked. As simple as table area may be it was awesome because she had fun coloring and I could talk to the dentist without her nagging me to leave. At the end of her appointment she received a red balloon on a stick and glittery tooth paste and a mickey and friends toothbrush. My daughter was so happy when we came home she threw away her Dora toothbrush just so she could use her new toothbrush. She also said at the end of day, Mama when can we go see the dentist again. :) So very happy to have found such a great facility. And highly recommend this wonderful place :) read more

The dentist is very nice. Always smiling/friendly and informative. He listens patiently. The hygienist is the opposite. She looks like she hates her job. I have only had one hygienist there, so I only know about her. She has absolutely no smile. She is not patient and doesn't listen. She is a bit rough especially when flossing. She rarely talks. When it came time to rinse, she just thrust a cup in my direction and grunted. I love the feeling of my clean teeth after Amy cleans and polishes my pearly whites. I even think of skipping lunch after my dental appointment so that I can keep my teeth feeling clean longer. Ok, I am not crazy, so my love for food always wins over my desire to keep my teeth clean a few hours longer. Amy is a very friendly and caring hygienist. She is also extremely gentle and thorough. She will go the extra mile to make sure she cleans your teeth well. I also love chatting with her. She will treat you just like family! Dr. Mark Watanabe is a great dentist who will always do what is in your best interest. If your filling can last years longer, he won't recommend changing it just to make extra work. He will closely monitor your oral health and take care of you, and make the best decisions for you. I wish my dental insurance would pay for more than twice a year dental care. Most people don't like going to the dentist. I think there are two reasons for that. The first would be because they don't take care of their teeth. I had a chipped tooth over the weekend and called at 8am on Monday and they were able to get me in at 8:20 the very same day. They educate patients when it comes to what to expect, making sure you're not experiencing pain or discomfort as well as education regarding out of pocket costs/insurance coverage. First visit and so far so good. I sent in my first request online and heard back the next business day. They were courteous and got me an appointment the next day since they had a cancellation. Upon arriving I was greeted warmly and given all the necesary 'first visit paperwork to fill out. All of my questions were answered patiently and the moment I finished they took me back. The technician was the one who did the actual cleaning (she might have introduced herself, but I forgot her name) and the X-rays. She was very thorough and I didn't ever feel like she was rushing . It had been a year since my last cleaning so it was a little painful. After she was done, she gave me a little shpeal about flossing and then the doctor came in for a final check which only lasted about 3 min. I was finally offered the option to schedule my next routine appointment upfront or receive an email and then work from there; I opted for the latter. Finally got some swag and a final kind reminder to floss properly. Checkout was a breeze and my insurance covered most of it and they do accept military insurance. read more
