The front desk staff are very polite and dental hygenist are excellent. The dentist even worked me on for an emergency tooth fix after chipping a tooth. So I basically look forward to visiting the dentist here. I had a recent visit and everything went great until I got home. I had an appointment after working a 16 hour shift. I was very sleepy and headed home upon completion of my appointment. I'm at home getting into bed and I receive this call from this obviously angry poo person. I'm like can I help you. She went into this diatribe about how I left without paying. (My $12-20 copay) I explained I'm very tired and need sleep. I'll take care of it after some sleep. But no she wouldn't have that. It's early how can you be that angry this early in the am. I can't believe I'm saying this but I was waiting for her to say she was ready to send me to collections it was that bad. Apparently I was really bothered by it because I'm not able to sleep now and I've gotten home I decided to give the operation a call because this person definitely needs to not be communicating with patients because they have zero customer service skills. I've been in the medical field for 22 years and I've never talked to a patient like that ever. On my call I asked that somebody that was at the office front manager give me a call and they said that there is no front manager so maybe that's the problem. I did request if they could have somebody of some stature give me a call back so I could explain the situation because this person should not be around talking to or any form with patients. I'm hoping somebody is going to give me a call back otherwise I guess I'm going to have to leave a really good dentist and really good front office staff and find another dentist. Mainly recommendation if you're going to be dealing with patients try to do it with a little Aloha or at least print pretend to have some Aloha and want my business.

If you are looking for a solid team with great prices, this is your place! They are small, nothing big and fancy but they really take care of you. My children are adults now but Ricky saw them as children and the intro to seeing a dentist for the first time was awesome for them. They are closed Thursdays but open on Saturdays in case you work. I went to see Dr. Jay Kanegawa two days ago for my initial visit to clean my teeth and for my…read moredental exam, and I have some concerns with him from this initial visit. First of all, I found Dr. Kanegawa to be way too talkative when I was just there for my dental cleaning. He made me uncomfortable asking me personal question and too many personal questions, and even at several times he playfully punched me in the upper arm, which hurt, and was unprofessional of him. Next, in the actual cleaning of my teeth, I found Dr. Kanegawa to be very rough. After I went home from my teeth cleaning, I found that my teeth hurt and I couldn't chew at all on the left side of my mouth, which for me was unusual after a routine dental cleaning. In addition, my gums were bleeding more than usual and I found weird red, round inflamed circles under my tongue, five inflamed, red circles in all. I called the office to report the red circles under my tongue and sent them pictures as proof' and Dr. Kanegawa admitted that they were caused by him and the improper placement and careless use of the suction during my teeth cleaning. Maybe if Dr. Jay Kanegawa watched what he was doing during my teeth cleaning and was more attentive and careful, instead of talking so much, my tongue wouldn't have gotten injured. I asked for Dr. Kanegawa to call me to discuss things, and he never called me back. In conclusion, I only went one time to the dental office of Jay Kanegawa, but will never go back, as I found him to be unprofessional, careless, insulting, and inattentive. I also highly suggest that he hire a dental hygienist as he does not seem to know how to gently clean patient's teeth without hurting them!

I went for my first consultation today and let me tell you, they use a lot of newer high tech technology, they are extremely thorough with checking each tooth and explaining what's going on, they not only share with people verbally but also show you what they're looking at on the tv screen as well. The hygienist, Janet, was so so nice and gentle - I really loved getting to know her better. And Dr. Koga was so personable, knowledgeable, and made me feel heard which is super important to me. Because they are so thorough you do need to come in quite a few times but I will say that they'll help create a customized plan for you on how to best take care of your teeth and the maintenance that comes with it. Office staff has great memory and will get you all the help you need from booking appointments to bill pay and any extras that you might need (teeth whitening, tooth brushes, etc.) The dental hygienists are quick and efficient which I love because I'm always on a time crunch. Dr. Iyomasa is great! Super knowledgeable, open, and honest. She explains everything thoroughly. I'm very appreciative of that. Oh! They recently updated their office and equipment so that's a bonus. Even though we have a regular dentist, he wanted to get a 2nd opinion from an oral surgeon. Dr Emily is not an oral surgeon but he needed to see her first to get the referral. This dental office is located in the Aiea Medical building on Aiea Heights Drive right across the street from McDonald's/Aiea Shopping Center. For those of you who live in the area, you know what a bear it is to get into the parking lot & leave off busy Aiea Heights Drive. The parking lot is not very big & if that is full, there are more spaces in the building, but not a lot more. I've heard that parking is expensive here & sure enough, the sign by the parking ticket dispenser shows it's free for the first 1/2 hr & $2 for each 1/2 hr after that. Luckily since our appointment was early, when we pulled in, we found parking right away. Parking spaces are a little tight. When you leave, there's a cashier/lot attendant just around the corner from the elevator where you pay then head to your parked car. You will need the paid ticket to exit to insert in the machine. Once it's confirmed, the arm raises, & then you can exit but you have to pay first before you leave your parking spot. The dental office is on the 2nd floor. Small, but a neat waiting area with a TV. We completed some paperwork & waited just a few minutes before we were called in. Personnel were nice & efficient, not overly friendly, but pleasant. Shortly after we were seated, Dr Emily came in. She grew up here locally. My hubby discussed with her why he was there. Dr Emily was friendly, easy to talk to & listened carefully to my hubby's concerns. She was down to earth & seemed to genuinely care, even though he was not a regular patient. She asked some pointed questions & offered solutions & to make some calls on my hubby's behalf. I found that so reassuring that she would go above & beyond for us. From the time we got there until the time we left, 1 1/2 hrs had passed, most of the time talking with the dr. What I appreciated was, she didn't rush us & even answered some questions I had. We don't know if she had other appts after us, I'm sure she did for when we left, the waiting area was full. But the fact that she didn't rush us just to get to the next patient, impressed me. This was probably the only time we'll see her, but if I needed to go to another dentist in the future, she'd be at the top of the list. We appreciated her time, kudos to you Dr Emily Iyomasa & your staff. Two things that would prevent me from going back are - they do not validate for parking & that they charge a $56 cancellation fee if it is outside of 48 hrs - wow! The first time you cancel, they give you a pass because they understand unexpected stuff happens but then that's it. They make you sign a form so that you are aware of this. Parking cost us $4 for 1 1/2 hrs, not as bad as I thought.
