I stopped in here to ask about a few different items I was looking for (tablet case, and a couple of different cables). The store clerk didn't seem to understand what I was asking for; he kept showing me a wrong cable and insisting that it was the right one (it wasn't -- he doesn't seem to understand the difference between a female USB and a male USB, which is not rocket science, and he also didn't understand the difference between a data transfer cable and OTG). It took me five times explaining to him before he actually listened instead of just patronizing me as if I didn't know what I was asking for. I would not come here again unless 1) I wanted someone to talk to me like I was a toddler or 2) I want to talk to someone who ignores all the words coming out of my mouth and just waits his turn to reiterate the same thing based on the first three words I say. I also would never trust a repair job of any technology I cared about to these people -- based on what I observed of their lack of basic expertise and talk-down-to-you bedside manner, Pacific Repair is an excellent candidate for doing 'half-ass repairs because we think you don't have the expertise to know better'. Better value for new components at NCIX, better value on used parts at Free Geek, and better value & peace of mind for repair jobs at the Hackery. read more

Made my life easy. This was months ago now. My mom had a brand new laptop endure a water spill, whole thing just shut down and refused to turn back on. Choked and feeling super stupid, we did nothing with it for a week... until I finally took it to Pacific Laptop. (Unimportant detail: the laptop was turned off and lid closed, a glass was knocked over and spilled over the lid.) Their terms are simple: they take it in, they look at it, they call you with the estimated repair and cost, no charge until this point. You can now take it home as is, or proceed with the repair. Got it repaired, took no time at all, super stoked. Not surprisingly there was no damage to the circuits or board, they speculated that it may have a snazzy sensor that detects liquids, then shut down to protect the insides. They explained they gave it a lovely isopropyl clean down to be on the safe side, tested it all out, and put it back together. To this day no issue, runs as if it were brand new. That's all we can want. Everyone I spoke to was courteous and informative, I will most certainly be returning to address any further device woes. read more

Didn't actually get any thing repaired here but I sent in a request for a quote to unlock an old iPhone and the owner was very quick to respond and gave me advice on how to do it since he said he could not offer me a reasonable price. Stopped in here recently with a friend when we were walking by. I ended up ordering a battery to replace the one for my laptop, and was surprised to see the price tag of $88 but since I've never had to replace the battery before I didn't really think twice about it and was told it was mid range for pricing. After ordering and paying for it I looked up how much it would've cost to order it myself, and found the exact same one for $30.99 C with free shipping. So before I went in to pick it up I asked if I could return it, and was informed that not only are there no returns on batteries unless they're faulty (fine print), but he wouldn't buy it back from me either, even for a reduced price. When I asked why I was overcharged so much he said "that's the price" and when I asked how much he paid for it he wouldn't tell me. I'm willing to admit that I made a mistake not looking up a battery myself in the first place, but I wasn't expecting to get screwed over for trying to help support a small business near my home. Based on this experience I will not be returning, and advise price checking for yourself online before ordering anything here. read more
