The service was…read moreone of the best I've ever experienced (I'm only 17 years old though), with really attentive waiters and good manners. The food was nothing extraordinary but tasty as can be. I had some tapas, which were all seasoned amazingly. As a main dish I shared a seafood platter, again really tasty and of good quality. They gave us little refreshers through meals that were on the house, such as shots of gazpacho and mango sorbet and liquor for the grownups at the end of our dining. 10/10, would recommend.

Tucked away amongst the samey seafood restaurants on the seafront, this intimate traditional Spanish restaurant serves a comprehensive selection of tapas, washed down with local charm and incredibly friendly service. We were served by David, who was very patient with us trying out our very limited Spanish vocab skills. He was constantly smiling and didn't seem to resent speaking to us in English. We ordered a variety of tapas between 4 of us, including flavoursome anchovies, super-fresh calamari, a local octopus stew and some very brave patatas bravas! We particularly enjoyed the albondigas (scrumptious meatballs) and the capresi salad, ordering two portions of each. A very filling meal for 4 including a bottle of cava and some sparkling water came to €96 without service charge and we were very happy to tip. We'd go back again, no doubt

The waiter we had on our visit (May 7) belongs in some very high end, Michelin-starred, black-tie…read morekind of place. He had all the little touches down, fixing the window so it let air in but didn't blow wind through our food and napkins, peering at our progress so he could time each course to come out just as we were finishing the previous one, effortlessly reciting ingredients in his second language, even switching languages smoothly from using Spanish with me to using English with my dad. As wonderful as he was, he was only the cherry on top of probably the best dining experience I had on this trip to Spain. For a mere 17 euro each, we were served an overflowing plate of salad, a circle of plump red shrimp boiled to perfection, a platter of fried baby calamari, a huge frying pan of fideua with langoustines and more shrimp, and cheesecake and coconut flan for dessert. Of course, there was no way we were finishing all of that (the platter of baby calamari, though light with bodies full of oceany juice, was the main culprit filling our bellies) so we ate our leftover fideua for dinner. The fideua was nice and blackened on the bottom of the pan and the langoustine I had was extremely sweet and fresh (my dad said his wasn't as good, but I can't confirm!). What more can you ask for from a drive-by find after the restaurant you researched was closed for renovations?
