Went on July 13 2024 Is anyone running this place? For a Saturday in the summer at peak season it was not even very busy. We arrived to a sign that said seat yourself. We went out to the patio and so did some other tables. We all sat there for 25 min and no one came to serve us. My partner went inside to order drinks for us and asks if a waitress was coming outside? They said he had to pay for his drinks up front and they would sent someone out. I can understand if this was a busy weekend but the place was not busy. We waited another 15 minutes and I went inside to ask if a server was coming outside to take our order. The woman behind the bar asked how many were outside I said lots of tables. She said oh we didn't know I'll send someone out. In the mean time the owner or manager was making himself drinks and sitting at the bar drinking. Servers standing around chatting after we asked repeatedly if anyone was coming out to take an order. Few minutes later one waiter comes out and stood next to our table. I said hi eager to give him our food order and he looked at me and walked away?! He went to the next able and asked if they needed to order. They said yes they needed to order food and the waiter looked at them and went inside!! At this point I was worried about what the quality of the food would be with this service and such a large menu and looked up the restaurant. After reading other reviews we decided to finish our drinks and leave. We went to the bistro down the road which was a much improved atmosphere and experience. Will not be back here . Went on a Tuesday and $3.50 apps. So delicious. Deep fried goodies. Cod bites were AMAZING. Torpedo shrimp and pickle spears were also so good! Cheap pitchers. Will be back. read more

Great food, the nachos are the best I've had anywhere keeps me coming back. But expediency is not there strong suit. It's very consistent every time I come the waiter drops off your food and you don't see them again, good luck paying for your meal and leaving eventually after waiting 20-25 minutes after finishing I have go to the bar to pay. I've been coming here since this place was called The Duke, so that's going back a few years now. It's pretty typical pub fare with a fairly large menu. The restaurant is situated inside the Hotel Bedford and is definitely one of Goderich's favorite pubs. It also has a great wraparound patio in the summer and is spacious inside with a separate party room to book if needed. Our waitress never came back to our table. She took our order, and then someone else delivered the food. Saw her walking around serving other tables but she completely forgot about us. Would have ordered way more beverages if she had returned to the table. Good tasted good, looked good, but there was really no variety on the menu. Standard burger, standard fish and chips. Ended up here on a Saturday around 5PM because we were hungry, in the area and the reviews seemed mostly positive. Long story short? Pleasantly suprised. The restaurant is located right in the historic square and on the main floor of a hotel, which is my previous experience does not always prove to be a positive trait. Still, despite the fact that there was a group of eight of us, without a reservation, we were seatly quickly and the host and servers were all quite friendly. The place was pretty packed, which also seemed to be a positive sign. The draft beer lists, which is almost always the first thing I looked at was pretty extensive - maybe a dozen beers on tap - and more available in bottles and cans. My wife had a caesar, which must have been good as she had a second - a pretty rare occurance for her. I can confirm that others in the group raved that both the caesar salad and wings were excellent. While others, myself included, were less enthiastic about their meals. I had the steak special, which while cooked almost perfectly, was a little fattier than I would have preferred. As well, for a group of eight (including four kids) the meal was reasonable priced and everyone seemed quite happy and sated as we rolled out of the there. The location is great and the interior of the restaurant has kept a lot of its original charm. The food is good - as our the prices. We've been here since 2016 waiting on our meal. I've had better service at a self checkout. These guys need a recipe to make ice - but it'll be melted before the servers get it to you. But honestly, we were here for over 2 hours for our dinner, after we had ordered wings, which they were out of, and reubens, which they were out of as well. We ended up ordering steak, which was cooked well done, and when we were getting the bill after we rejected the terrible steak, it was still on our bill. Lots of unacceptable happenings here, from service to the actual quality of the food. The draft beer was warm too, and I'm not sure how that happens. Just brutal from start to finish. Too many mistakes to think it was just an off day - this place is the real deal, and by that I mean it's trash. Unfortunate because it's in such a great spot. read more

The folks at Paddy's take care of their patrons. The food is always good. The service is always quick. And Tuesdays are super cheap.

The last time a large group of co-workers and I planned to go out for a meal we wanted to come here and they would not allow us to make a reservation for 10 people. When the first few of us showed up we asked if we could pull a few tables together to seat 10 and they told us they could not move the tables for us. We took our business elsewhere. read more

Not a great visit today. Only one waitress working the whole place, it wasn't busy but my order was wrong which was annoying. I asked for no veggies on my steak sandwich and it came with mushrooms and onions. She didn't come back to the table for a while after she dropped it off and by the time she did I didn't want to wait for another meal. Great food and service, I have eaten here dozens of times over the past 15 years and I have never had a bad meal. Decent beer selection and great atmosphere. The wings are good, the burgers are good and the sizzling stir-fry is exceptional. read more

Decent food and a good beer selection on tap, but it took our group almost three hours to get though dinner. Took almost an hour before we got our drinks then another hour for the food to arrive. Not a place to visit if you are in a hurry. read more

This is our go to restaurant when in Goderich. Convenient, the food is usually excellent. We went there for lunch, and had the special, fish and chips. The Fish was excellent, but the Fries were soggy, and the portion was small. We had the Fish and chips here before, and they were world class. We will go back there again, and hopefully they will again rate 5 stars. read more
