During a time when safety is paramount Paddywax Candle Bar is well deserving of a five star rating. With mask requirements, contactless registration and check-in, socially distant class seating, my friend and I felt safe and very comfortable with our first time candle making experience. Here's the Yelp tea on the class Scene Located in a mixed use space this location serves as a retail space, workshop and the company's headquarters. There is ample room to move about without feeling like your in someone else's personal space. Just in case you need a quick refresher there's is a bar with wine, bubbles, beer and juices conveniently located in the space. Be sure to check out the photo op with handy ring light. Service Can't say enough about the service. I booked online and check-in onsite was quick and easy. We were greeted warmly and immediately given a quick tour of the space along with details on what to expect. Experience After grabbing the best seats in the house, we settled in and prepared to become candle making rockstars...well at least that's how I imagined it. Each place setting was equipped with sanitized tools and disposable instructions. After the instructor's brief overview, each table of four was then allowed to select a fragrance and candle vessel. Printable pick your fragrance cards helped with selecting the perfect scent. This hands on class was easy to follow and fun. The hour time slot makes this experience the perfect thing to do if you don't have a lot of time to spare. Don't forget extra cash, all class attendees receive a 20% discount on retail merchandise. Cost $$ Parking Free onsite parking lot Tip Classes sell out fast and are limited so book early. Be on time or you'll be bumped Arrive early if you're like me and need more time to select the perfect fragrance and vessel. It takes three hours for the candle to cool so either plan to comeback after the class or the next day

My DIL brought me to Paddywax as a birthday gift. There was a bit of trepidation when doing these artistic group experiences (I am awful at the art sip and stroke things). But this was a delightful experience! We had a lovely and very helpful instructor to guide us. You begin by choosing your fragrance from a long row of options. I opted for sea salt + sage because sage is cleansing. Then you choose your vessel and there are amazing choices. I opted for one that can later be used as a tea cup and had a logic flower (lotus is an important spiritual symbol as well). It was fun measuring the fragrance and the extremely hot wax. The candle takes about three hours to set so you can pick up later (they will hold for 30 days). I loved my candle making experience - it will not be my last!

Great for a nice date night or a group outing. Mitch and the young lady working (I want to say Bailey but I may be totally off) were wonderful. Made the whole experience fun, engaging, and provided plenty of comedic relief. 10/10 would recommend.

You are encouraged to buy drinks there. Which is not a bad thing because they do have a very interesting selection to choose from. I love that they're so many different candles to either make or purchase our class later Rihanna was more than amazing and she kept the class engaged with her jokes, that her light banter and her valuable sense of humor. I of course will continue to be a patron of patio candle bar because I love the idea.

What a great place to spend an hour or two! Who doesn't like candles or candle making? Right? A great place to bring a few friends, chat, make candles, sip a little wine and relax. We had the added bonus of Black Abbey Brewing Co giving flight samples, very tasty. Had a lot of fun, you should try it. The staff is awesome and very fun.

This candle should have had 2 wicks for the size vessel. Tunneling is terrible. Very disappointing.

The experience at the candle bar was fun! Everyone was very kind and it was a cute space. However, my custom candle turned out terrible not due to my error - but due to the error of the instructor. I was only given 1 wick to use in a candle that needed 2. So my candle has terrible tunneling of the wax and so much wax is wasted and unable to melt. Very disappointing since its so expensive to go make a candle and it turn out so bad because the employee didn't have the candlemaking knowledge necessary to help me create a usable candle.

Paddywax Candles are some of my favorite ones to burn at home. I have been to the Candle Bar a couple of times to pour my own candle, and it is such a fun experience! They make it easy to do, and you get to completely customize your candle. I will warn you: it's hard to decide on just one container and one scent! :)

What a fun experience! Nothing crazy, just a simple candle making class. You arrive... learn a little about their company, pick out your vessel and scent, then get to pour it yourself. I adore Paddywax candles so getting to make one myself was so cool! I went with my sister who was in from out of town, and I would definitely go again. All of their vessels are designed to be reused, and if you bring it back for another class you get like 20% or 30% off the class. It's a BYOB so if you wanted to do that you could. The ladies working there were so kind and helpful. Great atmosphere. I hope you go and have a great time as well!

Sweet baby Jesus! This is the cutest place in all the land with the best business plan in all the land. I visited the East Nashville location on my birthday (visiting from Denver) and the place was beautiful, clean, wonderful smelling, beautifully decorated and attended by two sweet lil ladies. We did the happy hour session which is super affordable. Even without the discount, 35$ for any candle/container in the store is amazing! Plus, you get to hand pour and scent it so in a lot of ways, you're paying for the experience. Long story short, I loved everything about it and if you're not local and pick your candle up, they'll ship it for just 8$. Unfortunately, my original candle came in the mail broken so I called the store and literally, same day, they poured and shipped a new one. I'm so thankful for the customer care and the experience here on my birthday. I wish I lived in Nashville so I could work here/thought of the idea myself!

This was such a fun way to spend the evening. You get to choose your own vessel (the container) and chose one of the over 40 different fragrances. Molly, our teacher, was knowledgeable and very welcoming. She offered to take photos and explained the process while making sure we were enjoying ourselves. There are products that you can purchase and will revive a discount of 20%off. You can bring your own food and drinks. Candles can be picked up several hours after or shipped for a fee. This is a perfect way to spend some time out and perfect for parties. Check out the website because if you book an early appointment time slot you will receive a discount.

I had a great experience at Paddywax Candle Bar while in Nashville for a bachelorette party. They had many choices for scents and "vessels". I chose a vessel that you can strike a match on the side which is somewhat unique. I had a hard time choosing a scent because I'm picky about candle scents, but they had tons of options, including seasonal and classic smells. Mine has a wood wick which is nice too. The candle-making process was simple and easy to follow. It was fun doing this with friends. We brought our own wine bottles. They have a cute little shop and a nice backdrop for photos too. It is a little pricey for one candle, but it is for the experience. I would definitely do it again with a group and do recommend!

I loved my Paddywax experience because it was a lot of fun to create your own candle with friends, however my low review is because my candle didn't last at all and I follow every direction to a T. I love candles and LOVE the one I made but it makes me sad because all two out of the three wicks work and 1 of the 2 barely lights, only one strong flame. I'm heartbroken cause I love my candle and it's been 7-8 months and still has a lot of candle left. Basically, fun experience but the candle will not last. P.s. I'm including pictures as proof.

The workshop was such a fun experience! We want to make this an at least annual thing. It was very difficult to choose a scent because nearly all of them smelled great. They also have plenty of nice vessels to choose from. The employees that were leading the workshop were all friendly, professional, and patient. The teacher led the class in a way that was easy to follow. Tip: get there early and pick out a scent before the workshop starts, because you won't have time to smell them all during the workshop. COVID days tip: don't plan to use the mask you wear to the workshop afterward. It'll smell like 100 different scents from when you sample all the scents. I was so glad I had an extra mask in my car.

I didn't have enough time to look through everything, but it's the kind of place where you can easily find something special. Some of the items were a bit pricey, but there were plenty of unique finds that would make great gifts. If you're visiting Nashville and need to pick up a gift, or just want to do a little shopping, this spot is well worth a stop.

The Store That Sells Everything You Didn't Know You Wanted…read more I was wandering down what I think is called 12th Street in Nashville -- that trendy stretch where even the sidewalks feel cooler than me -- and I stumbled into White's Mercantile. This place is like if a country singer, an interior designer, and an old general store all decided to start a lifestyle brand together. It's packed with everything from candles that smell like wealth and nostalgia, to mugs that make you question your current kitchen aesthetic. There's leather, linen, and probably something made from reclaimed barn wood -- all tastefully arranged to make you wish your house looked like this. After exploring all the treasures and fighting the urge to buy things I couldn't pronounce, I did what any sensible shopper would do: I bought a book. Because clearly, I'm a minimalist at heart... just one browsing session away from becoming a home décor influencer. Final Verdict: White's Mercantile is dangerously charming -- the kind of store that makes you believe you need artisanal coasters and $40 soap.
