Went with some guys from work for a "League of Extra Ordinary Gentlemen" meeting. Tried the flight and enjoyed all of them. Also had their 10oz high gravity offering, with cardamom (?) . Staff was friendly enough, didn't get in the way and didn't stop by enough to bother, luckily wasn't too crowded. Refills a the bar were easy enough to get to and the aroma of fermenting barley pop's was a nice reminder that I need to craft another homebrew of my own. Food truck was outstanding, Korean BBQ tacos were outstanding and great value! Brew was very tasty. Limited selection, but all of the offerings were priced nice and tasty. I'll be back! read more

Update: the bike racks have been upgraded to 5-star status! The beer: The Six is my fave. The recipe changed for a short while, going to a hopper, heavier mix, but I believe it's back on track with the founders mission of "sessionable" brews in mind. The Mary Ann seasonal is a must try. It's not for everyone, but if you like a strong ginger ale, this ginger beer will wet your whistle. read more

This place is great whether you are having drinks with some friends or going out on a date. The brewery is visible from the taproom, so you can see right were the beer is made while you are drinking it. It does not get much more local that than. The beers are standard, but good. In the Summer I recommend the Main Stage Amber, and the Mary Ann. If you are into hops and Rye malt then the rated R is great as well. Very cool wall mural by local artist Adam Turman. The only negative thing I have to say about the brewery is that I would like to see more turnover in the selection, but they are a production brewery and so they must keep some flagships around all of the time. read more

I really wanted to love 612. With all the great breweries opening up in northeast it was exciting to see 612 go into the huge building on broadway- so much opportunity! Unfortunately the beer is nothing to write home about. The recipes seem to be changing, too. The same beers have tasted drastically different on multiple visits. If you forced me to pick one to order, I'd go the ginger route but let's make this easier- head to Dangerous Man or Indeed instead. read more

Was here for Art a Whirl and had a blast. The tap room is pretty small, but then they have a good size patio that is great during the summer. They usually have a food truck which is great for extended stays and brewery crawls (Bauhaus and Indeed are very close as well). Good variety of games and shuffleboard inside. read more

The space was perfect for the party, the staff was friendly and helpful, and their beer was exceptional, especially the cranberry sour. Hear me out on this. I'm huge into craft beer. Most of my vacations are tactfully planned around craft breweries. Not to the point where that's the only reason I travel but if I can check out a brewery after a day of hiking and sight seeing my vacation is that much better. That being said, I was excited to check out 612 on a Saturday afternoon. They'd been open for only 8 days but already their tap room was pretty awesome. It has a very open feel to it, super high ceilings and a pretty awesome mural done by local artist Adam Turman. It was packed but my brother and I found a couple seats open at the bar. We each got a flight so we could sample all 4 of their offerings and I took some quick notes on my phone (below). Like I said, I follow craft beer pretty closely. 612 has been a name for at least two years now, if not more. I also know it's a partnership and after the years passed I notice they have more partners. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but the last I heard they were going to be open later this summer of 2013. Now they're open in February of 13 and to be honest, the beer seems really rushed. I'm guessing their is someone who really wanted the revenue to start flowing. Every beer I tasted was incredibly under attenuated. (learning sesh - that means the yeast that ferment the sugars into alcohol didn't get done doing their job) Maybe their style is to have super sweet beers that appeal to the mountain dew addicts these days but that's not my thing. I've never in my life had beer this sweet so it seems to me like someone pushed the opening date up before all the kinks were worked out of the brewing system. It's not that I won't give them another shot but I do think it's pretty lame to put out a product like that. Diabetics beware. If I'm wrong about the whole thing I guess I won't be coming back but hopefully they get things worked out and I can forget about this whole experience. Six- American pale Ale. Super sweet but it doesn't linger, it's balanced out right away by the bitterness. For being only 45 IBU the bitterness lingers. Under attenuated, very cloudy. Zero hour-coffee maple aroma with a hint of spice from the wheat. Very bitter, a bit too bitter for me which is odd. It's still smooth despite the bitterness though. Bitter cold winter ipa-similar to six but a lot more fruity and more lingering sweetness. Not bad but also under attenuated. Lots of mango from the hops. My favorite so far... but still too sweet. Rated r-crazy sweet, good flavor but really way too sweet for me, couldn't finish it. Like drinking malt juice. read more

On the beer side of things, I'm just not a huge fan of the beer. I haven't found a beer that I really like, but I do want to come back and check out the patio in the summer! read more

Stopped in with friends last night. They have a beautiful tap room. The beer however is very average. I had had the Six previously and thought it lacked character. After sampling the Scottish and their black ale I have solidified my opinion. My friends had the beer flight and their review was similar, lacking flavor and balance. Not that great. Great space and atmosphere, so I would love for them to succeed and be another option in Northeast. Unfortunately, The beers I had were not good. Like another review I found all their beers overly sweet and not ready. I was excited for the Rye....then disappointed by a beer with no head was very sweet. Sweet to the point of feeling very sticky on the glass as some of the over pour dried. Nobody in my group enjoyed their beers and had a hard time drinking a full 16 oz. The beer was flat and had no head. It could be demand was more than anticipated and they broke into items that they knew weren't ready. I don't know, but I will need some time before I go back there again. read more

I haven't had a beer there that I haven't enjoyed. Though, I could say that about any beer really! Just joking, 612 combines a great atmosphere and space with reasonably priced and delicious beer. Visited alone on a random Wednesday at around 9. Place was filled, but with enough empty seating to easily find a place. Sat at the bar, and was quickly greeted by a smiling bar wench (yep, I said it), ordered a Bitter Cold. Awesome beer, nice atmosphere. Overall, the place felt comfortable and warm and friendly, just like how a local place should feel. Love the bowling alley bar top, and all the exposed stainless equipment. I have been to many of the NE taprooms but last night was my first visit to 612. I was meeting up with some friends, I had been upstairs at Spyhouse and they had been at a local recording studio. The atmosphere is great. i love being able to see the brew equipment in the brewhouse, the brewing process fascinates me and I like being so close to the action. The servers were great, got us some beer and they were pretty quick. The beer was ok...as one friend put it, "perfectly acceptable" and that is how I would describe it. I tried the 6 American Pale Ale, this is a style that alludes me. What is it supposed to be? It tasted way hoppier than its 31IBUs, my friend had the RIPA which was a 41 and I thought 6 had a heavy hop profile. Over all 6 was a good beer, hop forward, bright and clean, with a light body. Low ABV as 5.1% is nice when you want to have a few. I also triend the Oatmeal Porter...i forget its name. The flavor was...ok. The body was pretty light for what Iw ould expect fora dark beer, I don't always need to chew my dark beers but it should feel heavy on your tongue. My friends raved about the Lager, I didn't try. Lets be honest, there are so many good taprooms in NE, we will mostly likely go someplace else. read more

One of those places that the owners are always around and want to make sure everyone is well taken care of. I'm not a huge beer aficionado, but I had three of the Rated Rs down before I knew it. I really, really want to give this place a third star, and at least notice it as average. But, I just can't pull that trigger. First, what does 612Brew do well? They market themselves very well. They have been extremely accomidating to groups I associate with. Their patio is a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy a beer. Food Trucks are always a plus. But, that is where it ends. In the middle of the road is the service. Nothing bad, but doesn't seem the most knowledgable either. The list of negatives for this place is very short, but specifically the thing I think they should do better and put more focus on...the beer. If the beer was only forgettable, I would have given this a 3* rating. But, I always remember the beer, and not in a good way. I just do not like the beer here, and while it is a few blocks from my house, it isn't worth my stop when I am out an about. I will stop back every so often in hopes that the beer improves, but in a couple years it hasn't yet. My last stop was a couple weeks ago, maybe I will be able to update this review in a few months. read more

Stopped in here with the Bitter Minnesota beer tour... we only had time to grab a little flight of beer. I wasn't too impressed with the brews but they weren't too bad. I felt like most of the beer was a little bland, nothing really stood out to me. The place was pretty busy and we did get quick service so that was pretty nice. read more

612 Brew is more than just great beer, the tap room is one of a kind with the fermentation tanks within a hands-reach, shuffleboard on deck, and great 90's rap music (stay until closing time and you will hear it too!). The owners & staff are really friendly and knowledgeable and will hook you up with the right beer for you. Favorite beer hands-down is the Mary Ann - it's seasonal, so get there soon, and go often before it's gone. It's got a great ginger flavor, definitely one of a kind. Great place for beers! We fell in love with the anniversary tripel. So good! There's definitely an issue with the bathroom guy though. They have a bathroom inside but there's a very rude guy who yells at you right as you walk up to the area (even though a bartender told me to go there). The guy's attitude ruined moods for multiple people in our party even though we were told to go there to use it. I suggest you guys get rid of him asap. read more

I'm a huge fan of this place, I've tried and liked most of the beers, the Shere Kahn is my favorite but it soon will be phase out. The Six is their flagship beer and it is solid american pale ale but on the lighter side. The Rated R is a very interesting Rye IPA, good taste and not short on flavor. The atmosphere is tough to beat IMO, usually a good amount of people there which adds to the energy. The people are pretty awesome there too, every time I've been in there they have been quick and very polite but I was in there the other day and one of bartenders was being an absolute prick. This is my only complaint about the place and the reason I couldn't give it 5 stars. I sat at the bar for a couple hours and observed him being very disrespectful to customers and even to me and I am in there quite often. Getting pissed off at people who didn't tip when using a LivingSocial deal, I know a tip is usually worthy but no need to get mad and cuss under your breath when someone doesn't. I was very impressed with everyone there until this guy. Its really too bad. If you don't get him as your bartender you'll be absolutely satisfied with this place and its definitely worth checking out! read more

Good venue with outdoor space, but there should be no excuse for a brewery to have only 4 beers offered at a time--especially because only one of them was drinkable to me, who usually likes anything without "lite" at the end of it. We checked out 612 one night since they were hosting my favorite food truck - Hibachi Daruma. The patio area is fantastic, alot of space and really cool tables. They even have a water feature. I tried Mary Ann, and it was great. A nice ginger flavor and easily drinkable. The bf (I think) tried Unrated Rye IPA and he really liked it too. We're definitely going to go back with some friends to relax on the patio. read more
