You get multiple opinions at one time and there's always someone with a new idea. Science is alive and well at Cedars Sinai. The staff is amazing. The nurses and the clinical partners work as a team. No one ever waits for the other one to do their job. They do their jobs together. It's very proficient and efficient. Even the cleaning people are friendly. They always have a smile on a good morning. I think whoever hires staff at Cedars deserves accolades for their ability to find the best of the best in every aspect of the hospital. Believe it or not I enjoyed the food. I more than often ordered the salmon and the sweet pea soup. I was moved to a long-term care Hospital and I really miss the salmon :0) I would give Cedars Sinai 10 stars if I could.

We arrived at 5 a.m. for his outpatient surgery, and from the moment we walked in they checked us in right away, took us to the room, and started preparing my son. He was very scared, but every single RN, anesthesiologist, and doctor was incredibly kind. They took the time to talk to both of us, explain the process, comfort him, and even held his hand to help him feel safe. The recovery took about an hour and 30 minutes, and during that whole time the staff kept checking on us and asking if we needed anything. It really meant a lot to see how much they cared. I'm truly grateful for the compassion, patience, and professionalism everyone showed that morning. Thank you to all of you who were there and took such good care of my son. Every question that tried to get answered was interrupted with a rude tone and it also showed in their faces. From the Front desk to the X-Ray room it seemed like doctors didn't believe what was being answered from my significant other. They also need to practice asking questions and providing a reason of asking (especially personal questions). Reason being is because it felt like it was abrupt and invasive which made both of us uncomfortable but these questions were also asked in the Hallway with other patients waiting to be treated. It was very odd cause some questions were about drug use which was pretty invasive and was a bit triggering only for them to give a reason after we were caught off guard. Out of all of the staff we saw which was a total of 7, only 2 gentlemen were very kind and professional. I'm going to keep their identity anonymous for their own well being and so it doesn't come back to hurt them by other staff but we did appreciate their work, dedication, and compassion. TBH I'm shocked this place only has 3 stars... it's a great hospital with an even better staff. Once she was admitted, the doctors, nurses, and staff took great care of both my wife and our daughter. Everyone was kind, professional, and genuinely caring. We also appreciated that they honoured our request to release the placenta for encapsulation. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the labour experience. We were told the hospital was extremely busy that day, so we completely understand things were hectic. That said, after my wife asked for an epidural, she ended up waiting close to two hours while in severe labour pain. We kept pressing the call button but had a hard time getting updates or assistance, and the lack of communication made an already stressful situation even harder. As her husband, it was heartbreaking watching her go through that. We were also disappointed that our birth plan wasn't fully followed. We had requested delayed cord clamping and made sure both the doctor and nurses had a copy beforehand, but the cord was clamped immediately after birth. We understand plans sometimes have to change, but we would've appreciated an explanation. Other than those issues, we're truly grateful for everyone who cared for my wife and our baby. We know the team was working incredibly hard, and we're thankful they helped bring our healthy baby girl safely into the world. With a little more communication during busy times and closer attention to birth plans, I think the experience would have easily been 5 stars.

The bad news: I went in at 8:45am did not receive any real treatment except and IV until around 2pm. I didn't get out and complete everything until after 4pm. Spent nearly an entire work shift just to get seen and checked. They are extremely understaffed and overbooked with walk ins. They need more CT scan rooms, and nurses willing to see patients. At the end of the day, I was treated, but I did not feel cared for and did not feel like I was important. Of course, there are other patients and we all want to be prioritized but the issue is they receive more patients than they can handle and it does not seem to matter to them at all. You will get treated, just expect to waste a lot of time.

There's a security check very similar to TSA at the entrance, so prepare to remove metals and place your belongings through a scanner. For convenience, there are vending machines and a cafe. The bathrooms in the waiting room and within the ER especially were not being maintained and I might have contracted the flu from using them. Once I was admitted to the second floor, the levels of care were exponentially better. I had around the clock care and a call button for if I needed anything. They made sure I knew what was happening with my body and gave me full control over my treatment options. The food was surprisingly acceptable; sometimes even good. One thing that I found strange was that I never was told about how billing worked or what my insurance would cover. I am lucky that they are contracted with my insurance and I only owe $50 from the ER. But it is concerning that I never was told about billing while I was there. TLDR: Hire more sanitation workers!

She was admitted saturday morning and was discharged in the afternoon on Sunday. Visitation Rights: 2 times. Location/Parking: Located between Venice and Catesby Ln.. Paid parking can be found in their private parking structure, meter parking along Grand/surrounding streets, and/or the place we decided to park near the metro station next to LA Trade Tech which was free on Saturday. It was about 15 to 20 minute walk. Ambiance/Decor: Hospital is alright and relatively clean. They also have a outdoor patio to sit and enjoy some sunshine. Order Of Visitor Operations: 1) Walk in and get a visitor badge. They have face masks on the counter for you. 2) You can visit the gift shop or just take the elevator to where your love one/ones are. Service/Experience: Service was great. The nurses and doctors that were assigned to my mom provide great care and was thorough in explaining of the procedure that was going to be done on the following day. The nurses didn't struggle with operating the aspirator device compared to the other hospitals that she was transferred to before going to Diginity. Long story short, my mom had gastritis and was actually able to go home on the same day she had the EGD. Dignity Health For Thought: Overall, my mom's experience was good and the nurses and doctors were professional and thorough in their explanation of the procedure that was going to be done. I've always remained polite and patient during my visits. But after multiple experiences here, I honestly feel like something needs to be said. Every single time I've come to this ER, the wait has been excessive -- usually 7+ hours just to be seen or placed in a room, followed by several more hours waiting for updates or care once inside. I understand emergencies happen and patients are prioritized by severity, but the overall experience feels extremely disorganized and lacking compassion. The waiting room is consistently dirty and overcrowded, with visibly sick people sitting for hours without updates. What bothered me most, though, was the attitude from some of the staff at the front desk. Patients and family members asking simple questions are often spoken to like they're inconveniencing the staff just for needing help or clarification. During my most recent visit, I spent nearly 10 hours there before eventually deciding to decline admission and go home. I was placed in a room without a pillow or blanket and asked three separate times for a blanket, but was ignored each time. No one expects perfection, especially in a busy ER. But basic compassion, communication, and respect should still exist. People come to the emergency room scared, sick, in pain, and vulnerable. The way patients are treated matters just as much as the medical care itself. I genuinely hope this department improves, because no patient should leave feeling dismissed, ignored, or like they were a burden for simply needing medical help.

I am compelled to share my experience with MLK Hospital because what I witnessed was completely…read moreunacceptable, dangerous, and inhumane. My client is over 60, wheelchair-bound, has a history of colon cancer, and came to the ER for shortness of breath. When he asked to use the bathroom, no fall risk precautions were put in place--nothing to ensure his safety. He had very limited strength, difficulty breathing, and yet he was sent to navigate this on his own. Using the handicap rails, he attempted to stand and immediately fell. Only after the fall was a fall risk wristband applied. This is basic patient safety, completely ignored. When I went to follow up, social worker Elizabeth became aggressively hostile as I asked simple questions about my client's condition. She refused to provide clear information and escalated the situation unnecessarily. I requested assistance from the charge nurse, Julio, who was present but offered no real accountability or support--simply stoic and dismissive. My questions about whether my client was checked on after the fall, or how his safety was addressed, were brushed aside. This hospital clearly prioritizes procedure and profit over human life. A patient nearly injured in their care had to fight just to be treated with basic dignity and respect. They are quick to discharge or transfer patients without addressing the serious risks and errors they caused. For a facility that deals with vulnerable populations--elderly, disabled, undocumented, homeless--this is absolutely unacceptable. MLK Hospital urgently needs systemic accountability: proper fall prevention protocols, training for staff in communication and empathy, and a real commitment to patient safety. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hospital to anyone, especially for those who are vulnerable or unable to advocate for themselves.
