Hope I never have to return, but Huntington Cedars took amazing care of me. Three months ago, a freak BJJ accident left me with a broken tib/fib. Was brought here by a friend immediately on Friday night and had surgery Saturday morning to get a titanium rod and screws. The nursing staff was excellent, and my surgeon Dr. Shah was super cool and did a phenomenal job. From Friday to Monday, they did everything possible to keep me comfortable. TBH I'm shocked this place only has 3 stars... it's a great hospital with an even better staff. And yes they have a reputation for food and it's actually pretty good, however it's a bit bland for patients, way better as a visitor. Anyways, highly recommend them. Will not return LOL read more

I feel there are some amazing professionals here, but they all look truly defeated, and something empty appears in their eyes and hearts. This hospital needs to bring real lifesavers back into this great hospital and start saving more lives each day. Don't give up, Huntington! I am writing to formally document my grievances regarding the life-threatening care I received at Huntington Hospital during two separate incidents. During my delivery, Dr. Edward Merchant allowed my due date to lapse significantly. On the day of delivery, I was ignored for hours following the departure of the head nurse. Despite my deteriorating condition, Dr. Merchant refused to intervene and went to sleep in the physician's rest area. A code was eventually called when my blood pressure dropped dangerously low. My previous physician, who was on call, had to intervene to perform a crash emergency C-section. Furthermore, Dr. Merchant falsified my medical records by documenting the event as a "normal uneventful delivery." It was an emergency crash C-section as confirmed by the nurses to me the following day. In a subsequent emergency room visit for a severe allergic reaction, I was dismissed by the triage nurse, Maryann Magdaleno, RN, and sent back to a filthy, crowded waiting room for hours. I eventually went home and was called back at 3:00 AM, at which point my blood pressure was 60/0. While my chart indicates I was seen by a Dr. Stinnett, I never saw a physician during that visit. Despite reporting these incidents to the appropriate oversight agencies and the BRN, I have not received a satisfactory resolution. The hospital has continued to stonewall requests for information regarding staffing schedules and this particular nurse on call that night. I am formally expressing my concerns regarding the unethical and unprofessional conduct I recently experienced from Huntington Hospital medical staff. This behavior compromised my safety and fell well below the expected medical standards for their scope of practice. It is essential that the personnel involved are held accountable for these actions to ensure that future patients do not encounter the same lack of care and professionalism. I trust that you will take the necessary steps to address this matter. My wife and I had our first baby at Huntington Hospital, and overall it was a really good experience. Once she was admitted, the doctors, nurses, and staff took great care of both my wife and our daughter. Everyone was kind, professional, and genuinely caring. We also appreciated that they honoured our request to release the placenta for encapsulation. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the labour experience. We were told the hospital was extremely busy that day, so we completely understand things were hectic. That said, after my wife asked for an epidural, she ended up waiting close to two hours while in severe labour pain. We kept pressing the call button but had a hard time getting updates or assistance, and the lack of communication made an already stressful situation even harder. As her husband, it was heartbreaking watching her go through that. We were also disappointed that our birth plan wasn't fully followed. We had requested delayed cord clamping and made sure both the doctor and nurses had a copy beforehand, but the cord was clamped immediately after birth. We understand plans sometimes have to change, but we would've appreciated an explanation. Other than those issues, we're truly grateful for everyone who cared for my wife and our baby. We know the team was working incredibly hard, and we're thankful they helped bring our healthy baby girl safely into the world. With a little more communication during busy times and closer attention to birth plans, I think the experience would have easily been 5 stars. read more

One year ago today I had one of the worst medical experiences of my life at Huntington Health. I went to the ER with severe stomach pain. A CT scan was performed, but the radiologist apparently misread the results. My appendix had already ruptured and I had an appendicular abscess forming around what remained of it. Because of this error, I was left without surgery for an additional night while in excruciating pain. Surgery did not occur until the following evening. When I was taken into the surgical room, there was blood on the ceiling, which was shocking and unsettling to see before a procedure. After surgery, I was placed in the maternity ward being used as overflow because there were no available rooms. The room felt like a closet. The TV did not work, and the monitoring system initially didn't work either--they had to go find another one. I was given a PureWick catheter device to urinate with, and it was never changed during my stay. I later developed a severe urinary tract infection. A nurse in my family told me these devices are supposed to be replaced multiple times a day. One night after surgery around 3 AM, I woke up in excruciating pain and repeatedly pressed the nurse call button, but the remote didn't work. I could hear nurses laughing nearby but no one responded until I gathered enough strength to yell out. Only then did staff come in. I also remember a night when blood was drawn and the nurse smelled strongly of alcohol, which was extremely concerning. Overall, the experience was chaotic, painful, and deeply unsettling. Between the diagnostic error, the lack of responsiveness, and poor post-operative care, I would strongly caution anyone to think twice before going to this ER if other options are available. read more

How does a fancy, gigantic hospital not know how to offer an emergency room that's more efficient and more humane? It needs a major overhaul and re-visioning of the waiting room, the check in procedures and staff training. This is also why people get irate and freak out in the waiting room. People are already at their lowest and in pain and feeling vulnerable and here there's nothing about the place that makes you relieved to be there. It speaks to the overall state of healthcare in America, sadly. I just left after a long wait and not getting the CT scan that was ordered by urgent care. Honestly, the poor 1 star reviews here are shocking to read because our experience couldn't be anything further from this and I would give a 10 star rating if I was able. It's not everyday you find out that your mom is having heart failure, come in feeling devastated/hopeless, but these people did their absolute best to take care of us with compassion, integrity, and go above and beyond to address our needs. This entire process was almost 2-3 months long, my mom had a complex 15 hour surgery, and yet made a recovery in less than 2 weeks, and was discharged today and is now soundly back at home, and it's all because of the incredible team here. There's a lot of people to name from their amazing staff but here's some specific people that left an incredible impression on us I'd love to give credit to: Station 45: Sydney the nurse was extremely warm, compassionate, and took such great care of my mom during the initial stages of her being admitted in January while they were diagnosing her condition. Critical Care Unit: Joe, Cassie, Cesar who treated my mom with the utmost respect, patience, dignity, and care given her post op condition. No matter how much assistance was needed by my mom, big or small, they attended to her swiftly in all manners, continually provided me reassurance, and thoughtfully answered any and all questions and concerns. Extra special shout out to Felicia Sanders and Haig who went above and beyond to provide my mom with the utmost comfort, you both were angels. Step down unit, floor 2, of West Tower: Shannon, Letty Martinez, Jazzmin, Elena, Becky, Gloria, Robert, Rhonald, Carlos, Art, Brenton, and Jed. Wow this team was also incredible. They continually checked on my mom as well through the day and night, encouraged her walking and movement, breathing treatment, independence, and literally guided her every step of the way in that journey. I visited her everyday, and never once had to leave with any doubt or worry in my heart and soul, knowing she was in exceptional hands. We feel extremely blessed and count our lucky stars that the universe gave us the good fortune to have been put under your guidance and care. Sorry to anyone I may have accidentally missed, but we truly love and appreciate you all. We recognize how difficult your work and job is, and just how demanding it is, and yet you all were continually at it, day and night, with the highest positive attitudes and energy and it made all the difference for us in our healing. You are all the real heroes and we hope you get all the credit and respect you deserve, because this was one of the hardest things we had to go through in this journey of life, and you all made it as pleasant and smooth of an experience as could be. In less than 10 minutes after my wife was discharged, we asked to speak to the doctor concerning the diagnosis written on the paper. Within 3 minutes there were 5 security guards asking us to leave or get arrested for trespassing. Nobody was yelling or causing a scene. Just asked to see the doctor. This review is for my experience having an ultrasound-guided D&E at Huntington Hospital where the doctor from Fair Oaks Women's Health PIERCED MY UTERUS AND REMOVED MY RIGHT FALLOPIAN TUBE ON ACCIDENT. I was still pregnant after this procedure. Nine days later they called to tell me that they collected fallopian tube instead of pregnancy tissue. I woke up from my procedure in intense pain and was brushed off by the nurse who just told me she could only give me Tylenol. I told her something was wrong and she just told me nothing was wrong. I went home and couldn't lift my child for a week. I filed a formal complaint with Huntington, they called me and acted like they were escalating it somewhere but I never heard back about any resolution. There are things they could have done to help relieve some of my suffering. First, the nurse could have listened to me and escalated my pain to a doctor. Next, the tissue that is collected should be looked at by the doctor. If she'd have looked at it, she'd have known instantly it wasn't pregnancy tissue she collected. Third, someone could have checked in on me after my surgery (nobody did for nine days). Fourth, they could have listened to my complained and called me back about it. And fifth-- they could have reimbursed my for the additional procedures I had to have to assess THEIR DAMAGE FROM ONEOF THEIR DOCTORS (I had to have an HSG and a hysteroscopy). How did this happen, Huntington Hospital??? Such a miserable experience. read more

The care is good, they're attentive and mainly do they're job but nothing out of the ordinary. It's a hit or miss with the friendliness or kindness but it may just be the staff had a bad or long day. We're all human after all. They do charge you for every little thing, so whatever they give you or treat you with if you're admitted, take and use. Parking gets expensive, especially if you're there on a regular. It's $1.50/15min or $12 max, I posted a picture of the sign with prices and info. You might be able to get comped parking depending on what you're being treated for. It never hurts to ask. You can't just wonder in or around, there are security posted in several areas. In the outpatient clinic areas the staff seem more friendly. If you're visiting someone who was admitted, you need to show an ID and will have your picture taken for a printed temp visitor's pass. The staff at this info/check in desk are not the friendliest in my experiences. read more

This was the hospital that took care of me when I had breast cancer. I had my surgeries here. I had outstanding nurses. One was a male one. He really took care of me the night after my surgery. He made sure I was treated for nausea and knew what I needed. I was scared and depressed and they were so compassionate. Dr Amy Polverini and Dr Howell make an excellent team. I healed well. Food is very good here. I felt I was in good hands. Wish it was closer to where I live and that would be our home hospital. Keep up the amazing work. I'm forever grateful to you. read more

My dear grandmother went in for pain complaints and died at the hospital due to carelessness of the hospital doctors and nurses .. she contracted Pneumonia and UTI .. passed away with days .. the room she was staying was dirty urine stains in the bathroom when she was bed ridden and didn't use it .. her hands were all bruised due to unprofessional vein poking for iv .. nurses don't even wash hands and wear the gloves which can spread germs and viruses .. she wasn't given food and vitamins for days which made her more weak .. the first time she was released from the hospital with low blood pressure cough and urine retention.. was Back to the hospital after a day when things got worse .. we were not told of the pneumonia or uti she contracted after the ER visit for severe pain read more

I too am surprised by the low reviews. I don't want to dismiss anyone's negative experience, because some sound valid and horrible. And the hospital is by no means perfect, but I don't know that a perfect hospital exists. I just want to advocate for emergency departments in general. There are going to be long waits, it's not going to feel fair sometimes, it can feel aggravating and unbearable to wait, and there will definitely be a cranky employee, whether admin or health care worker. But those individuals at this location are far surpassed by caring, kind, empathetic, and whip smart staff. I had an unexpected stay for three days after being completely dismissed at Glendale Memorial two days earlier. I could not be more grateful for the care I received at Huntington. To the emergency room nurses and doctors, the social workers, the specialists and nurses in my unit, the charge nurse, discharge nurse, CT and MRI technicians, transports, volunteers and endoscopy unit, I am grateful. read more

I cannot believe any of the 1 star reviews. I was treated like a queen. All the way from the cleaning crew to the doctors and everyone in between were ALL kind, respectful, courteous, professional and treated me with dignity and respect. I felt like a queen and I was there for almost 3 weeks. Every single person I encountered wanted to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, made sure my medications were correct and on time, which never happened in any other hospital I have been I and I have had over 20 surgeries. I have had over 6 long stays in the hospital and each one was horrible except this one here at Huntington. I was so surprised that I didn't have one person with an attitude. There was not one person breaking any rules or regulations. Every single person came to me as soon as I pressed my nurse button and came with a smile and wanted to make sure they got everything I needed. That never happened in other hospitals. This hospital should be a teaching hospital on how to treat patients and how to behave and how to make sure the patient has everything they need and with a genuine smile and caring attitude. I was so impressed with this hospital I was just blown away at how perfect it is. Thank you to all of you who helped me through my time with you. I will never forget you. Okay hospital in the area! Recently had the worst case of norovirus I have ever had in my life. I was miserable for about 5 days until the dehydration started to catch up with me and I decided to come to the Emergency Room. I'm still fairly new to the city, so the it was quite daunting waking up in the 5th day knowing I'd have to find emergency care somewhere near me. Huntington Hospital is a large campus with a confusing layout. My first complaint is the parking and having to pay for it when you're already going through some type of emergency situation. It was 5am and I was alone and disoriented, so it was a mission having to park and get to the entrance. Sunday at 5am it was me and one other person, receptionists were not very welcoming, just getting their jobs done. I was triaged right away and then waited about an hour with only 2 other people in the waiting room before being called back. The first doctor I saw was a female provider, can't remember her name, but she was very intrusive with my skin condition that had absolutely nothing to do with the reason I was there and I believe that it was because of her that several other nurses and doctors were adamant in knowing about my condition until I straight up told them to leave it alone because it was making me mad. In the end I got IV fluids and medication prescribed and I was on my way, but not before paying $12 for parking!!! lol Thankful they saw me and took care of me, but overall a weird experience and though generally for emergencies choices aren't really there, if I do have a choice I will likely try another hospital next time.(hopefully no time soon haha) read more

This post is for Huntington hospital billing and payment department. Recently we got a bill for the copay amount, I tried to process the payment, but it is so hard. 1. I called the number on the bill, the system informed that I can't process via phone, transferred me to representative, but no one answered. I tried multiple times, I even tried to have them to call me back, no call back. 2. I tried to pay online, it didn't work 3. I tried to sent mail, but I got returned mail, unable to forward. It is really upsetting, I wonder how others process the payment. I went there for the ER, maybe my insurance is out of the network, but it shouldn't be so hard just to process payments. read more

I visited the Huntington Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation Center for physical therapy to address lower back pain and rebuild upper body strength. From the very beginning, the care I received here stood out far beyond any other physical therapy experience I've had. My physical therapist, Sue, was truly exceptional. I wasn't coming in with a straightforward issue--my situation was complex, involving older injuries and overlapping pain patterns that required a thoughtful and customized approach. What impressed me most was that Sue didn't just rely on routine protocols. She took the time to research my rare condition to ensure the exercises she recommended would strengthen my body without triggering other areas of pain. That level of dedication and clinical insight is rare and deeply appreciated. Another standout was the consistency and professionalism of the entire office. My appointments always ran on time. I never waited more than five minutes to be taken back, which made the experience smooth and stress-free from start to finish. I was a patient here post-COVID, during a time when masking, distancing, and health protocols were in full effect. Despite the added challenges, the entire operation ran very smoothly. Safety was clearly a priority, and the environment felt both calm and well-organized. Unlike other clinics where therapists show you the movements and then leave you to complete them on your own, Sue stayed with me throughout each session. She monitored my form, made thoughtful adjustments in real time, and offered consistent encouragement. The only times she stepped away were to prepare the next part of the session--whether it was therapeutic massage, resistance training, or assisted stretching. Thanks to the personalized care I received, my lower back pain improved so significantly that I no longer needed the injections I had been scheduled for. The progress I made felt meaningful, lasting, and most importantly, safe. If you are looking for a place where you will be seen, heard, and treated as an individual--not just a diagnosis--I can't recommend this rehab center enough. I'm currently in the ER for 3 hours with a mother who had back surgery. I asked for a bed for her and was advised there will be a 6 hour wait. The lady said she gave my mother an EKG but couldn't give me a time she gave it. My mother didn't remember getting an EKG. I'm not happy with the care so far. read more

The front desk staff is unprofessional and jokes amongst themselves instead of acknowledging your presence. Judging by the other reviews, the wait times are always insane. Emergency room is hard to find, poorly marked, then you have to find parking in a paid structure and go through airport style security to wait in a crowded lobby where everyone plays videos on their phone at full volume, while staff gossips in the background. People are left waiting, crying and clearly in pain. Zero care or urgency.They care more about security than helping people in need of emergency care. Haven't been here in years. Their security is tougher than TSA at the airport! It would be annoying to anyone in a rush to get in to see a family member. Group of old people working as volunteers at the front that will literally chase you down if you try and walk by. Real security not far from them either if needed. They want your id, they scan it AND TAKE YOUR PHOTO. Good lord! Yall want my social too?! I knew exactly where to go to see my cousin, and as I was walking in while texting this old white man stood in front of me and told Me I had to check in. Parking is a NIGHTMARE here. Very minimal Parking. It's as if they created minimal parking to force you to have to valet. How are you going to build a HUGE hospital, but have minimal Parking on the north side?! It really is ridiculous. My cousin had outpatient surgery for a hysterectomy. My pops has been here twice before for robotic microscopic surgery and everything went well. I have no doubts that she is in great hands. Hospital is great, but parking is a nightmare and the volunteers act like they're COPS. Not a fan of dealing with them. Surgery went well. Cousin healed well with zero issues. Dr's are top notch here. read more

Same day surgery- Complete screwup of scheduling left me lying on a gurney in a hospital gown with an IV needle in my arm for 3 1/2 hours. When I was told it would be at least another hour to wait for my turn, I demanded they pull the needle out of my arm. I took a cab home. all this was despite having my schedule in writing from my physician. I was called the night before and told to come in at 5 AM or two hours before I was scheduled. When I showed the nurse the written schedule otherwise she just dismissed it by saying, "we don't go by what the physicians say". read more

Came to the Emergency Room on July 4th 2024 around 8 PM. I hadn't slept in 3 days. They ran some tests on me and put me back into a room in the ER. The doctor came back to see me and a technician put an IV in me where I'm still bruised. The doctor told me I have a benign cyst on my ovary. It took the psychiatric nurse 3 hours to finally come see. After that, my ACTUAL nurse, Justine, finally came into the room, and they got ready to transfer me to the Della Martin Center Unit 200 for a 72-hour hold. I had to give them all my stuff, including jewelry, books, my coloring books, and coloring materials. When I got to the psychiatric unit, it was fine at first until the clinical care staff became very unprofessional. I overheard Marc, a clinical care partner, talk to his fellow coworker about another patient. He said it was his fault he got shot because of the way he talks. I don't think health care professionals should be talking about their clients like this. My psychiatrist, Dr. Viguen Movsesian figured out what medications worked for me and finally discharged me after 83 hours in the unit. Once I got home, I realized someone on the staff had stolen from me. They stole my "Choose Joy" gratitude coloring book by Ink & Willow as well as my washable Crayola coloring markers. I am quite upset about this because i had colored quite a few pages, and because this book helped with my mental health. I have bipolar disorder type 1 and post-traumatic stress disorder. I also suffer from insomnia. Overall, it was not a good experience, and I do not recommend going here for any type of psychiatric help if you want to be treated like an actual human being and not be stolen from. read more

Dr. Beckerman showed no care in the ER department for me when i overheard him speaking to his colleagues - "i'm going to keep him , gatta pay for my kids college some how" (had direct visual of him from my bed) I admitted myself to receive help with severe alcohol withdrawals - I'm sure i wasn't hallucinating , cause his computer was right outside my room . I chose to come to him cause he took care of my girlfriend with care and compassion a few weeks back , which i received none of during my short stay. I'm having a chest pain micro vascular disease patient. I came in 8:30 am and I'm still waiting 4:39 pm. After they check d my blood work and chest & heart Xray they made me just wait almost 8 hours. Your front desk check in receptionist named Toni in the John staffer lobby who was visibly sick and coughing and sneezing while checking people , deciding to go out of her way to approach me and tell me that I cannot lay down. My mom is having a huge surgery and she called 4 securities on me for asking her to provide a policy that says I cannot lay down. Her response to the policy request is that there is not policy and that "it's what she says" she told me it's not "my house" and that I can't do whatever I want. I've never been treated like this at any hospital. I have left a message with provider relations and waiting to hear back. You cannot force people to follow a rule that is not the rule of the hospital or that a rule you cannot show a policy on. This lady should not be working in a hospital setting. The absolute worse care. I walked in to an emergency room where the waiting room was a total of two people ahead of me. That was at 10:45 am. It is now 3:21, and I still have not been discharged despite my scans and X-rays having been completed over half an hour ago. Avoid this hospital at all costs! read more

My sister went to ED and the security guards were rude as they asked me to go around to the other line in the entrance as eventually ended up the same spot. The front desk was not helpful with triaging patients. My sister was kept nothing by mouth and IV hydration with pain since there was a shortage of IV. However, nursing staff service was outstanding. Terrible patient care. Did not give us any instructions when discharged from a serious trauma injury. Called back to get basic instructions that wasn't given to us, the receptionist or whoever it was, was dismissive, said to call our own doctor and they can't help answer our questions, and actually hung up on me. Dr. Asbasia Mikhail is outstanding! I had to take my son in for treatment and diagnosis of a head injury/concussion. She had wonderful bedside manner and asked thorough questions and provided him with quick care. We left feeling relieved and confident in her diagnosis. Two weeks later, I went into the ER with a lot of pain and uncertain of what to expect, but hopeful Dr. Asbasia (or someone similar to her knowledge, expertise, and character) would be there. To my luck, she was there and treated me! Once again, the staff was very prompt, professional, and kind, and thorough. There was no hesitation to provide me with testing necessary to diagnose or rule out what was causing my pain. I'm confident with Dr. Asabsia and the entire staff at Huntington Hospital ER.
