When calling to make an appointment, it's as if you are inviting yourself over for coffee and a chat, not a neck or back adjustment. They have this way making one feel as if they are part of that office. I've never had to wait to be seen. In fact, I've called a couple of times while in town and at the last minute called to see if they could fit me in while I was close by... They've always said 'Come on in... We'll see you when you get here.' With a regular adjustment I'm in and out within about ten minutes. Dr Lowman doesn't push extra treatments on people. He didn't tell me that it would take about six weeks for me to get relief with making appointments two to three times per week. He simply says..."call me when you need me." I really like that.

Dr. Lowman picked up where my accupuncturist/physical therapist left off when I moved to town. I have sports injuries that cause me back pain and headaches every day. He found a long term solution to my pain as well as treatment for me. That coupled with his recommended exercise, better shoes and massage therapy (at a different business), my back has felt the best in years. Although I don't go often, Dr. Lowman's work and advice have been invaluble to me, especially being on a budget. They are always available to take me same-day on those emergency cases. I've referred my husband and mother-in-law to him as well. I only wish his hours included 5-6 PM weekdays or Saturdays for the rigid working-class schedule.

The building houses a dermatologist office as well so definitely make sure you check the sign on the door when you walk in the entrance to ensure you are heading to the correct office. The receptionist was friendly, quick, and efficient. I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes from the scheduled time of my appointment to be seen which was awesome. The nurses and doctor that assisted me today were super friendly, patient and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this location if you are in the market for a podiatrist!

My foot/ankle issues are a bit complicated. I couldn't get past the "assistant" because I wanted to find out if the problem I'm having with my left foot might possibly be related to the fact that my right leg had been broken a few years ago and had resulted in an ankle injury as well as some residual foot paralysis (both feet) from an earlier illness. But because every possible detail had not been listed on the referral she then told me the doctor "would not" talk with me concerning the other facts. I had hoped every fact concerning my foot/ankle problems could have been discussed/looked at. But I left without so much as even meeting a doctor much less having anything examined. I know for whatever reason you can't talk to a specialist unless you've been referred there by your PCP. I could have paid my copay and talked to their doctor (whoever he is) about my left foot but the assistant was clear that he could not talk to me about anything else. I asked her "what good are you/he then?" She told me I needed to go back to my doctor and get a proper referral and then her doctor would schedule a "30 minute appointment" and talk to me about everything else. It appears it's all driven by the money. I thought that was so very big of him. And all this was after her leaving the room 3 separate times to ask him questions and then return and answer mine. So what is she needed for then? To be fair to my doctor's practice, my referral was not sent by my doctor but by another doctor in his practice (as he had no opening at the time). So I'm going back to (my) doctor to start this process all over again and get another referral to a podiatrist. But I have no intention of wasting more time with these folks. I originally asked to see Dr Ocheltree at this practice (as I know him and greatly respect him) but he was out of the country doing mission work related to his profession. Perhaps some others at this practice should follow his example? To say I left there disappointed would be an understatement. I am curious though about one thing. In this era of confidentiality and being private I find it extremely odd that a patient would take pictures of the inside of the business and the fact that the office staff would permit such a thing? Odd.

Ultimately, I was very disappointed with my experience with Butchart. On my first visit that was…read moresupposed to be 90 minutes but lasted less than 60 minutes, he diagnosed me with a genetic heart defect after asking me if I had a family member die of a heart attack. I was told to take Folate for this genetic heart defect. While this was a red-flag for me, I was still hopeful. He also prescribed me supplements for my condition prior to lab testing because he knew the problem and told me that I would be feeling better in less than two weeks. In fact, he told me that I would be feeling so good that I could stop taking my prescribed medicine (another red-flag). Please note that only the lab tests are covered by insurance (but see below) and the company that does the lab testing also provides the supplements that cannot be found elsewhere. After six months, and not feeling better (and actually getting worse due to one of his special formula mixes that he insisted I continue taking because, as he indicated, sometimes you get worse before you get better) he indicated I should have the lab tests done again. Well, the insurance company rejected being told to pay for the lab tests again and Butchart said he would work out a special deal with me and I could pay him $300 (or so) directly -- hmm (if I recall correctly, the company that does the lab testing charges the insurance company ~$2000 for the lab testing). Well, I told him I was not interested in investing another $300 in lab testing from the same company who provides the supplements that were supposed to make me feel better right away. When I told him this, he stopped communicating with me. Overall, I feel Butchart does a nice job of communicating with his patients by e-mail (notice that he directly e-mails the patient). But he also acts as if he knows everything while speaking badly of all other doctors as ignorant of how things really work in the mind and body. When things do not improve, as in my case, he is simply done and is not interested in trying to figure out another solution that works for both the patient and himself. Ultimately, I left poorer and no better off than when I first entered his practice.
