I had been sick with a respiratory issue for several days and decided to go to MedExpress. At MedExpress I tested postiive for COVID and was diagnosed with a lower respiratory infection as well. I was presecribed Phenergan, doxycycline, and an albuterol inhaler. When I asked MedExpress about Paxlovid (I take an immunosuppresent medication that puts me at higher risk, MedExpress explained that they refer people to their PCP for Paxlovid because you have to have recent liver and kidney function tests to be sure you're a candidate for the medication. I called this practice (which I have been going to for about 15 years) and asked about Paxlovid. The ladie I spoke with said they won't prescribe that for me without being seen in the office. So I clarified, "You want a COVID-positive patient to come to the office and spread the virus so you can prescribe me a medication to treat a condition I was diagnosed with?" and she said "Yes, and we don't have anything today, so you'll have to call back tomorrow." My wife called back the next morning, the lady was again rude and said they didn't have anything today either and refused to give my wife her name. Considering there are other reviews/complaints here about this same behavior from 4+ years ago, obviously this is an ongoing problem that someone is refusing to address. No wonder none of the providers want to stay here. Also, they have their pages on other social media channels (Such as Facebook) set up so you can't leave reviews. Why? Worried about what people might say? To summarize: - I tested positive for COVID - I was diagnosed with a lower respiratory infection - I am a high risk patient due to an immunosuppresent medication - They refused to prescribe the medication without me coming to the office even though I was just seen by another provider and was not willing to work me in.
