A week ago I joined a few friends and their daughters on a Saturday night at the "Paint A Scarf Alaska" experience. It was much more than just painting...this evening was an amazing potpourri of enjoyment! We started out with some delicious hor d' oeuvres (I asked for the recipe and made it before the next day was over), as we got to know our hosts, the artist and her husband. We then learned the basics for painting a silk scarf and got right to work. It was nice weather so we painted by the rushing brook. I felt like a kid again (I'm soon to be a grandma). The Murrows guided us when we needed help but let us work on our own if we wanted to. We were able to be creative while sipping a glass of wine (that we brought) and visiting with one another. Dave took photos for us so we could enjoy what we were doing. Once the artwork was done and needed to dry they served us a delicious dinner on the deck! Amazing food, and so much fun with friends. To summarize, it was an evening of beauty, nature, creativity, hospitality, and delicious food. It's a recipe for a most memorable evening! And the cap on it all is that you have a scarf to take with you and wear for years to come! Well worth the money, and I want to return with more friends. read more

This is one of the most fun things I've ever done in Alaska, and I've lived here 30+ years. From the moment we stepped into the beautiful log home until the time we reluctantly had to say goodbye, we felt like special VIPs. Gina and Dave made us feel so welcome that we felt like we had been friends for years. I was terrified when I first touched the paintbrush to the silk scarf, but with Gina's encouragement, soon I was painting like I had been doing it all my life. You really can't make a mistake with this art form. I even did a custom scarf with starfishes for one of my grand daughters. With the various techniques as options, I am really pleased with how both scarves came out. I've already booked another visit to share with a dear friend who is coming to visit me next month and is a "REAL" artist. I can hardly wait to see what she creates. The best part is that I know we're going to have an awsomely fun and unique experience to create a wonderful memory. Gina and her able side kick, David, were great. Eleven of us painted unique and beautiful scarves on frames set up in my backyard! The process was so easy and we went home with a silk creation. Gina and David have the process down to a fine art. We each had an IPAD and listened to the short, well done video that explained the whole process. We each had a frame/easel and colors of our choice. Those at the get together (10 or more) who didn't participate immediately wished they had signed up. They watched and enjoyed seeing the final product. It turned out that my party was the first one Gina and David held in AZ. The weather was perfect for an outdoor party. There was no mess, no fuss and everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to when they offer it again. If you don't wear scarves, no problem. I used mine as a table runner for my new home office and matched the colors to my furnishings. I can't recommend this company anymore highly than I have here. Thanks, Gina and David. read more

Just finished spending the afternoon with Paint a Scarf in Chugiak, Alaska. There were 8 women in the class, with varying talents and most without any previous painting experience. We all walked away with at least one finished scarf, and in our class six of us finished two scarves in the time given. It is addicting! Instructions were direct and well given, both orally and visually. The video presentation was clear and concise, without being too overdone. Individual attention was plentiful and well-meaning. Once finished we were treated to a wonderful meal and the opportunity to chat amongst fellow painters. The hosts were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a creative streak, and especially to scarf-lovers. A great hands on experience, and would be a special handmade gift for a loved one. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening. read more

This experience was more than great. The owner, Gina, went out of her way to make sure we understood how to do it, before starting, then became our coach as we painted, offering advice, hints, and praise. The other 2 ladies were also very helpful. The lunch provided, after our painted scarves were finished, was very delicious and filling - all homemade! What was extra special to me is that I am somewhat disabled and I had asked if I could be somehow accommodated. She asked, via email, if I could let them know when I would be coming so they could be ready, which I did. Believe me, they treated me above and beyond what I ever expected! I am a customer for life and am already planning another trip with other friends. My husband and I (we are neither artists or painters...my husband is a rugged outside guy) used Paint a Scarf Alaska on date night. It was a lot of fun. The teaching video was so informative we hardly needed any assistance, the instructors were very friendly and helpful, our scarves are beautiful and I will wear both of them. We had a great dinner at Turkey Reds while our scarves were drying. We were also given great information on how to care for our scarves once we left. Overall, the whole night was a lot of fun. We both highly recommend Paint a Scarf Alaska for date night, girls night out, or I am considering going alone for some quiet downtime. We painted scarves at Gina's Paint a Scarf class in Chugiak, today. There were six of us in our group, all at various levels of artistic ability. That didn't matter one bit. Every single scarf came out beautifully. Gina and her husband were very organized, prepared, and planned out perfectly. I just can't tell you how much fun we had. A little nervous, but once we began, paint was flying and everyone totally focused on their scarf. This is a wonderful activity for family and friends alike. read more

I don't have enough good things to say about Paint a Scarf! I attended one of their paint nights at Turkey Red with my sisters and mother, and it was so much fun. None of us are painters, but all of our scarves turned out beautiful. The instruction was very clear, and they were very helpful during the entire process. We ended up buying tickets to one of their summer events while we were there, because we enjoyed it so much. read more

What a wonderful evening with family and friends painting silk scarves. Gina and Dave were terrific hosts and teachers. The short program they have set up to show techniques for painting the scarves is great for for putting novices like me at ease and providing a great springboard for painters to explore what they can do. This was such a great experience! We were able to paint outside on the deck under big umbrellas while the rushing creek below us gave us a comforting sound and beautiful view! It's like visiting a friends home yet professional too. I really enjoyed our hostesss/teacher and all the food too. Today I spent the afternoon with my friend painting two beautiful scarves. Not only did I experience a new art, the owners served delicious snacks and lunch, being very mindful of my dietary restrictions.
