this is an ACTUAL CUSTOMER REVIEW OF THE SHED DOG GROOMING IN LAFAYETTE OREGON…read more I have 2 small dogs. dog one is a terrier and i requested just a plain hair cut for her...not any "style" , just cut it all a true inch long all over he4r body. Her coat wound up just chopped - done with scissors! they did not use a clipper - they may not have one or know how to use one. even her ears - one ear was trimmed pointing down at the front of the ear flap. the other ear was pointed the opposite way. dog 2 was only to get a shampoo, nails trimmed and a "sanitary swipe" up the rear end. she is part Pomeranian and had beautiful "feathers" on her tail and back legs especially - the length of all of her rear end feathers were cut about half way off. not all of her nails got cut - the more difficult nails were just left - you could feel the difference between the cut and uncut nails. they had no answer for any of it. i waited a few weeks before contacting them. i didn't want to be angry on the phone.( i did get a bit heated but no name calling. i told them i would contact the chamber of commerce and their small town business association) their response was very aloof and negative . i wanted some money back. nope and they charge top dollar. i took pics but its hard to see specific dings - dog 1 came out looking like she had been groomed months before. avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid - many better options than the Shed in Lafayette Oregon. Took my 2 year old rescue dog for a full grooming. The groomer personality was NOT customer service…read morefriendly. She did okay with the job. Nails were clipped (I asked to watch but she said only from a window 10 to 15 feet away). I had thought the buffing was included and stated that. She asked me, "do you want buffing?" and I clarified I wanted everything included in what I paid for. Without reply, she took the dog over and did the buffing. After the wash and blow dry, she brought my pup to me as if finished. I said that the website stated that the package I bought included a 15 minute "professional" brush out. She immediately turned (again without comment) and took the dog back to the work table. She brushed him for 10 minutes. Took him to check out and the clerk charged my an extra $12 for the "buffing". I told her what I had told the groomer and she said no, this is the fee for buffing nails. No apologies for misunderstanding, about the same lack of "customer service friendly" as the groomer. I will NEVER return to the McMinnville store.

I do not recommend this place. I tried their self service dog wash. Their tubs are too flimsy for…read morelarge dogs. And their shampoo's are so watered down that it just squirts out like tapwater. If you do go, you need to bring your own shampoo. On top of that, the "shampoo" smelled like something that's used commercially to mop floors. I've never smelled that smell before and a shampoo. God only knows what I was washing my dog with. When I asked the guy why the shampoos were so watery, he said that "they were running low so they added some water so that they would go farther until their next shipment arrived." Despite my better judgment, I also brought my Shih Tzu there for full grooming because she needed a haircut. When I dropped her off for her APPOINTMENT, the person that was going to groom her told me it would take a couple of hours meaning she would be ready by 11am, having a 9a appointment. At 11:15am I called the store to see if my dog was ready. The Store manager answered the phone and informed me that she would be ready around 2 PM because "they had a lot of walk-ins and other dogs that needed to be groomed too". I said well that's why I made an appointment and that the lady that was grooming my dog said that she would only take about two hours and would be ready at 11 AM. This person on the phone continued to argue with me about "you don't know how dog grooming businesses work," among other abrasive comments. I had gone out to run errands during these two hours and was nearby which is why I called. I decided to go ahead and go over there and pick up my dog - in whatever condition she was in. I figured if she was going to be another 3 hours, she was probably still in a cage waiting for her bath. When I arrived, they brought up my dog, who appeared to have already had her bath and haircut, Which made me extra confused - if she was already finished why did they tell me that she wouldn't be ready until 2 PM? When it was time to pay, one of the employees had to go back and ask what the charge would be for the grooming service. He came back flustered and said it would be $90! For a 15 pound Shih Tzu! I asked why it was so high, and he just said that's the price he was told. I asked to see a price sheet and he acted like he didn't know if one existed. Then he pulled out a price sheet that was laminated on a chain right there by the cash register and told me how these were "old prices from years ago" when he first started even though it was on a chain and laminated and right there dangling from the cash register. The price sheet for a Shih Tzu said $65 and up. I would certainly like to know why I was charged $90! Of course, there was no explanation. I cannot emphasize enough how much I do not recommend this place - self-serve or full groom. Save yourself a headache and possibly injury to your pet and go someplace else!
