Fun place to get your craft on for all ages.  I took the kids here while the rest of our group…read morecontinued on with some shopping. There are a few options to do such as making a candle, garden, and painting. They also have a to-go slime kit.  We were leaving Tahoe that day so we wanted to make something that we could bring home the same day. The kids each made a garden and a candle. For the garden, we chose a pot which varies in price. We then got to choose a real or fake plant. To plant, small rocks went in first for drainage and then we filled it with dirt. Now comes the fun part to decorate with the add ons. There were different types and color rocks, moss, and tiny figurines. My kiddo loved getting his creativity on with all the options.  For the candle, we chose a container which varies in price also. We then got to choose the colored wax to break it apart. It was actually easier to break it with the hands then cut it up. Once we were done with that part, we got to choose a scent, then a wick was added, and clear gloss was poured over to seal it.  It was a cute and fun experience. The best part is that all supplies are provided, and no cleaning is needed.

ive always been meaning to come back here after my first trip to squaw where i only had 1/2 an hour…read morebefore the place closed! this time was a success! the make you get a clipboard, and fill out your name, with the shape of candle and the scent, and any add on already made shapes (price accordingly) if you pay $1/candle you can get it rushed into 1.5 hrs instead of the 3... definitely worth it! there are tons of scents you can choose from, me and bf chose orange(hexagon) and pomegranate(daisy shape) we were allowed to each have a spatula that would split the wax chunks into the desired shape we wanted (no smaller than a gummy bear!). there were a spectrum of colored waxes to choose from. note: when you are making your candle, it is actually upside down! so plan accordingly! when we were down, the mixed in the white wax/filler + scent .. and cooled down. and finally into the awesome fountain waterbath! when we came to pick it up, the lady was already ironing it out to make it smooth and even, and then wrapped in tissue paper and we were on our merry little way back to the bay area :]

Ever wanted to make your own candle? This place is quick,…read moreeasy and you get beautiful results! There are a variety of candle shapes to choose from and you also get to choose your own scent. After a short lesson, you get to work putting together cold pieces of wax in a mold to make your candle. There are also lots of "speciality shapes" to choose from (they cost a bit extra), if you want to do a theme. I love to make the breadpan 3 wick because I get lots of space to add big blocks of color. The pyrimid is a fun shape and burns forever! After you're finished, it takes 3 hours for the candle to cool down and be finished. This is a great project for kids (under 7 will need adult help) or for a first date. Waxen Moon also sells a lot of pre-made candles, candle holders and other accessories so you can shop as well. They have some big, beautiful candles!! And they make Serenity Bowls, which are so cool. I have 4 of them, plus I have bought them for friends and family and they are always a hit! The Waxen Moon staff is really friendly, helpful and accomidating. I love this place and always hit it up when I am in Tahoe!

Be advised, the opening page of this site says "meet the chef", but you don't actually get Nick…read more"the chef" even after being convinced to pay $175 pp for a mexican food spread. Instead you may get a questionably trained chef who shows up late, forgot ingredients, didn't cook part of the menu and is a professional at reheating. Highlights of our overpriced meal included shrimp that was so rubbery we didn't know if it was shrimp, a sludge of mixed vegetables that were seemingly from a can, rice that was pre-made and reheated, corn overcooked, and steak that was like rubber and well done with no flavor. This professionally trained chef also shared that the salad dressing (the only edible portion of the meal) is easy to make, "just hidden valley ranch packet mixed with chipotle. The empanadas are also easy to make, just buy frozen pastry dough and put corn and meat in". Tortillas were out of a bag, and the guac and sour cream served out of paper bowls that we supplied. That price doesn't include plates or even a cocktail or wine? We requested a tres leche cake, which he pulled out of a box and told us he ordered from a bakery. Of course there is some value to this individual showing up, but frankly he should have been paid as a middle man, not a chef. Despite the horrific food, I was excited he agreed to do all the dishes until I opened the dishwasher the next morning only to find it has been run with no soap. The final icing on the cake was the knock on the door 10 minutes after he left to remind us we needed to tip him directly and not through the company or he doesn't see a dime of it, something seems weird there...??? I have never left a poor review on yelp before, but if there is ever one that is deserving of it this is it.
