A couple days ago I went into this location inquiring about taking a class with my 12 year old nephew and my mom. The lady and the young girl are totally rude and they couldn't answer any question's they only referred me to the website. It was a total waste of time. I wouldn't waste my time going there. I have been to PWAT on several occasions over the years with the same experience: consistently enjoyable. They currently offer a points system when you book online and you can earn a free class. The redemption of the free class is simple once you reach the required points. They offer a wide selection of paintings on certain days with the monthly calendar coming out the month before. You can host a private party and select your own painting. I follow PWAT on Facebook where they post the calendar of offerings monthly on the 15th. There are even painting seat giveaways on social media. Small business owned and operated locally. Go with a group or go solo and have an enjoyable time. It's BYOB of wine only and no hard liquor allowed. My room is full of paintings I have done and I even have the Painting with a Twist black smock from painting 10 paintings (old promo). This place is a lot of fun! We went here for my cousins birthday & had a private party...I think we paid $30 a piece & we brought in our own snacks & booze. Everyone had a really nice time hanging out, drinking & painting. Our instructor was really nice & very patient with everyone as we kept getting distracted by the fun & forgetting to actually paint. At the end we all had beautiful creations that we couldn't believe we had made ourselves because it looked like it was going to be much more difficult than it was. Had a private party for 16 for my bachelorette/bridal shower girl's weekend and we HAD A BLAST! Super easy to make the reservation and have everyone login to the website and pay ahead of time. And our instructor was crazy nice and very helpful, even though most of us had ZERO artistic ability. The whole staff was super friendly and easy going. It was great to be able to bring in any wine and food we wanted, and even though we ran late and then had to take extra time to clean-up after, the staff didn't rush us out and were very polite. I hosted a private event with PWAT and had an AMAZING time!! Londa was very knowledgeable in explaining the process & securing a studio session for my Pre-Mother's Day event! My goal was to have a fun & relaxing afternoon with my mom + aunts to show them how much I appreciate them and PWAT helped make that happen!! Thank you soooo much to the entire staff, especially our studio host Cloe for being an AMAZING art instructor!! We had a few returners but majority was first-time painters & we had a ball! I'm still getting text messages of how everyone had a really good time & would love to do that again! Also, the day of the event we had an extra guest bringing our party to 16 and PWAT was very accommodating with no questions asked! I didn't know what to expect for my first visit. The instructors were very patient and eager to build your confidence. These paint parties sell out fast so I strongly encourage you to book a few days in advance. They rent out entire rooms for hosting parties and let you bring own food and beverage. There is a cute wine and cheese shop next door that is very affordable. Unfortunately they are often closed during the hours of the paint parties. Come prepared with our own goodies. My boyfriend and I really enjoy Painting with a Twist events and we both agreed that this location is the best. It is super spacious, not crowded, and the instructor we had was great. She was informative, sweet, hilarious, and very kind. She tried her best to help us with the complicated painting and gave us tips. They were very energetic and helpful. They also didn't mind us bringing in beer (there was another location that did not allow us). If you checked in their location and show them, they will give you a free gift so that was great of them. Had a fantastic time here last weekend! The staff is so friendly and make you feel welcomed the moment you walk in. Kaitlyn was our painting instructor and she was absolutely wonderful. Made everyone feel welcomed, went slow enough to follow along, and even helped out if you felt stuck. Brought some wine to sip on during the session, helps get rid of my painting inhibitions! I am not an artist by any standard, but my daughter bought me a seat for my birthday and the group would be painting a Fall scene. Needless to say, I was still excited as the girl at the counter suggested this was fairly easy for a beginner. The instructor, Rob, was funny but seems to rush through without really explaining technique. He used the term "smush" and "texture" frequently between light jokes. How is a customer supposed to know how to hold the brush to get the proper affect? The different colors of paint are presented on a paper plate with three brushes and a cup you're supposed to use throughout the 3 hour class. Basically you're using a brush and then dunking it in dirty water and then you have to use it to paint a different color. The rag you're given is disgusting by the time you clean off the brush to reuse it. Why does your store not give adequate supplies to customers?? Instead of investing in a palate so the colors don't get mixed together by mistake. Also, you're given a very limited amount of paint and have to raise your hand to ask for more color if you run out. The people who work there will bring the color if requested but will not offer a different plate and they seem very reluctant to give more paint. We're paying $40 per class and the bottles of paint should be on the table to use throughout the session! It's not going to cost the company more than a couple cents per patron. The mood is kept light with good music and the people who work there are nice but really don't go out of their way to help. Needless to say, the experience was a disaster and I will not be back. read more

We had a very full class and it was a detailed 3-hour class, but she kept us focused and on point, but super helpful, too. A great concept for a business and I"ve done the one in Ferndale and Rochster, too - all great. The painting was fun but the service was horrible. I called to get clarity on how it works and planning a private party for my mother. The "artist" was rude and talking for the ppl behind the desk. She kept cutting me off about how if I wanted a private party that nobody would be able to teach the group. She had been horrible in how she taught the group. She knew that it was a birthday party and she never came to the table to ask the Birthday lady if she needed help or was she understanding the instructions. This was the worst experience I ever had with an activity such as this, it will be a very long time before I go back. read more

Loved my class! It was my first time painting, ever. Granted my painting turned out just okay, but it was still fun and I would do it again. The instructor, Kaitlyn, was really nice and very encouraging! My only note would be that if you have any sort of back problems, sitting on a high stool for two hours straight may not be the best option for you. Our instructor, I believe her name is Michelle, was impatient and was overheard to say, "I need a cigarette so they (our class) will have a longer break." That break was 15 minutes long plus, we spent time playing a game. She then rushed us through the class and we ran out of time. Some of us didn't get a chance to finish our paintings. What started out as a fun experience, ended by leaving a bad taste in our mouths. The class was a lot of fun and things were going well, until the instructor realized that she had only 15 minutes to finish. At that point, she rushed through instruction - on what was actually the most difficult part of the painting. The class couldn't keep up, we had to ask each other what the next steps were and kind of guess. We were being rushed - the work itself required drawing straight lines - difficult to do when being told to hurry up, cause we need to finish. So the very last piece of our paintings did not come out as well as I would have liked it to. I heard similar sentiments and frustration from the women around me. The staff started quickly cleaning up - they left one paint brush out for our class to pain the edge of the picture if we needed to. This class ended at 3:00 and the next was at four. Set up for the next class consisted of putting paper on two tables, filling paper plates with paint, and setting up the easels. The only message we received at that point, was class is over, we have to set up- get out! It leaves a bad taste in what had otherwise been a fun experience. I found myself wondering, was there no way that they could make this right? Put a station at one of the other tables with a few paintbrushes and paint for us to finish (or correct) what had been rushed through? Apologize. Instead of the message of -you are done, go (the tone was really unpleasant)...could they at least have apologized and smoothed it over? I felt we were receiving a lot of rudeness. read more
