Unfortunately, the space is very cramped and it was very hectic on a Saturday. It was disappointing that the only time we saw an employee was to show us where the pieces and paint were. You must locate each numbered paint urself and fill ur palette then you're left with no hands on instruction and u must clean all supplies after which explains the crusty brushes. Overall for the price we expected more from the experience given what we have experienced elsewhere. read more

Really quaint local business that offers select your own pottery to paint options. Overall, this place has a lot of charm. I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation and coming not during the weekend. I chose a whale ($15) and my husband chose a turtle ($12). Additionally, you have to pay per hour that you paint there, so it's better to come up with a paint plan and stick to it or else you waste time if you're indecisive like me. The sparkle paint is really fun. Definitely do three layers of any paint if you have the time! I like how the paint dries quickly. The staff are incredibly and impressively professional. The reason for the three stars is that when I went, on a Saturday around 1:30pm, they were SEVERELY understaffed. I felt so incredibly bad for them. There was one girl managing the entire floor and another girl managing a huge birthday party downstairs. That was it. They did such an excellent job maintaining their cool and being great communicators, but the wait and added chaos of just being insanely busy made for a lot of unhappy and grumpy customers. People had to wait 20-30 min just to talk to someone to pick up their finished painted pottery. The girl manning the front desk had to keep cashing people out, explaining paint instructions, turning people away, look for finished pottery, and look for empty seats without any help. The girl downstairs sounded like she was leading a birthday party of 50+ people all by herself. I saw many groups of people get turned away just because they couldn't handle the capacity of more folks. I'm glad I got snuck in to a table with my husband without a reservation but we had to wait a while. I also want to make a brief comment about accessibility. The space is an older house that's being used by the business. There's lots of little rooms which is nice if you just wanna hang out with your family and friends, but the materials for painting were spread across so many rooms. If you have mobility issues, it makes it quite difficult. Even the ceramics were spread across at least three rooms so you have to sidestep around tables and people a lot. The paint is in a separate room too. It's just a lot of getting up from your chair, navigating around people and things, and making sure you dont accidently bump a ceramic off a shelf. I've been to pottery places where it's just one large space which is helpful. Parking downtown isn't fun either and there are steep steps that lead up to the front of the building. I had a good time and I'm glad I went. I just highly recommend that the owner adds extra staff on the weekends and if they ever move, consider a place that's more accessible and open. read more

One of my favorite places in town to visit when I want to get my craft on. They have a huge selection of pottery to choose from and paint - mugs and dishes, magnets, pots, piggy banks, ornaments, etc. as well as a wide range of different paints to use. These turn into glaze once your painted item is fired up in the kiln. You pay for just your piece and by hour which is a great deal as you have unlimited access to all their paints, brushes, and sponges. My friend and I went here a few weekends ago and had a lovely time. Everything is very organized and clean, from the paint selection to the pottery you can paint. It's very responsibly priced too! I do recommend that you make a reservation, as this place is super busy on weekends! Also - get there 5 minutes early to ensure that you can check in without cutting into your painting time, as sometimes there's a line of people waiting to be checked out or in. You also will not be able to take your craft home with you that day. I went in a Saturday and was able to pick up my painted item the following weekend. Overall, would definitely go back! read more

Sadly I was disappointed in my experience at the Painted pot. I made a reservation for my group of friends and I, about 5 days prior to us coming in. We got to the reservation early and they said they didn't have a table ready and we would have to wait 15-20 mins. Almost an hour goes by and we have not received a phone call. I called them to see if I maybe had missed it, but it seemed as if they had forgot to call me back. We only about less than an hour to paint our pottery when I had originally reserved time for 2 hours, since it was our first time painting there. We were rushed out the door right when they closed and now we have to come back another day to finish our projects. It was frustrating that our reservation was not being honored and that we didn't get the time we had asked for. read more

My sisters in law did a bridal shower for me as a private party where a day ahead i went there and picked out some pieces for them to paint. I was so happy how private and fun it is this place, also the costumer service is beyond friendly! She made us feel like she could help us but also do it ourselves!. Even though its a small place was big enough for a party of 11. Everything is so clean and organized that makes it so easy to grab paint or any other material they have. We brought our appetizers and drinks which was so much fun grabbing something to eat before painting. Before we started the lady (I forgot her name), she explained to us the different colors, textures and ideas we can create, she was very helpful and made everything so easy. Such a fun place for both adults and kids. Pick out a piece of pottery and get to painting! You pay for your piece and per hour, so how much you spend is customizable depending on what you paint and how leisurely you are about it. They have all kinds of glazes, including speckled (fun!) and decorating tools galore. Sponges, pencils, stamps, patterns, etc. are all available for use in your artistic expression. Pieces available to paint range from the decorative, like Christmas ornaments, to the functional, like butter dishes. Most are a combination of both--the piece supplies the function, you supply thse decoration! From vases to switch plate covers to jewelry boxes to bowls to napkin holders, there's a big variety. If you haven't already guessed, these one-of-a-kind creations make fabulous gifts. Once you're done painting, they fire your piece in the kiln. This takes awhile, so you will need to go back in to pick it up. I believe its about a week, but leave more time around holidays and gift-giving occasions. In conjunction with the painted pot is a place to clay, which offers equipment and time for anyone who wants to throw down on the wheel. The painted pot does parties too, a great idea for kids, in a separate room. They offer gift certificates, but I was upset to find recently that they were all out (they are pre-made on clay tiles). I was counting on it for a gift, and that's why they miss the fifth star. Unfortunately they had no back up paper copies. This was for mothers day so its a shame they weren't prepared. While visiting from out of state, my host and I needed something to do on a very cold January day. The Painted Pot was the perfect idea! The staff was extremely helpful, from explaining the process to making recommendations on glazes. I loved the vast selection of pieces to pick from and sample pieces throughout for inspiration. A variety of people were visiting (women in their 30s, a mother and a young daughter, a group of teenagers celebrating a birthday), and all seemed to be enjoying their time. Just left after a wonderful afternoon with my son. the employees are wonderful. We witnessed a very nasty customer interact with Alexandria. And she kept herself professional and kind. The customer questioned her authority and threatened her. Told her she should get a discount for not bring in kids to make a mess. ITS A PLACE FOR KIDS!!! Just plain mean. Alexandria was very sweet and did exaclty what she should have done and kept her cool. The painted pot is wonderful for any creative person. My kids love going there. Prices are fair and the staff is ALWAYS helpful and kind. there are always a million ideas and different things to make. The sky's the limit.
