@Nick can sure throw a fun party! We drove quite a distance and enjoyed a visit to the area all to honor Nick's beautiful daughter's birthday! Painting was a nice bonus... The only things I've painted are rental properties and between the lines when I was a kid. To call me an amateur is to give me too much credit. Still, experiencing Painting With a Twist was fun! The instructor was engaging, helpful and talented. I am likely to never do this again but I treasure the memories. Life is good with a new, fun experience. read more

Interesting painting class. I was invited to the birthday party for a painting class. The studio contents two class rooms. We were excited due to the class. The selection by the birthday girl is to pain a milky way moon night. The teacher was nice to set the base of the painting by lighter colors to darker color. The set the tone of the background. We also learn how to use the object to set the moon. We also have the blue light color use. What I like the most use the painting brush to spray for the stars in the sky. I added some of ideas in the picture to make it mysterious. That will be my own art. read more

SOLID 5 STARS! This was a fantastic experience! Yelp Sensei Nick S invited me to help celebrate his daughter Alexandra's 8th birthday party, along with her friends and their parents. Also present were the famous Yelp Dynamic Duo Boon & Grace, and Dave W. Alexandra had chosen one of the paintings they have on the wall, and the instructor walked everyone through creating their own versions. But I'm a black sheep, so while everyone else followed the instructor's walk-through, I chose to try to recreate the Picasso A I picture featured on my Yelp profile. My painting is no masterpiece, but I had great fun. I can't pronounce the instructor's unpronounceable name, but she is a professional, that's for sure. She told us our paintings would be better if we added painting sound effects, like "Swish, Swish" She even found time to help me with my individual project by showing me a similar self-portrait she made in the Picasso style and helping me with colors and advice. Painting With A Twist can bring out the creative artist in anyone. No prior experience required. Besides painting, they also do acrylic pours, candles, and home decorating projects. They have adult classes where you can drink wine and paint (Bring your own wine, But since this was a birthday party for Alexandra's 8th birthday, we skipped the booze). What more could you ask? Dave W was reluctant (Which was surprising, since he's tried glass blowing, blacksmithing, and lots of other artsy things) but he got into the groove pretty fast. Grace & Boon showed exceptional ability. They created complimentary paintings that showed the moon in different phases. Nick S was busy being the excellent host that he is, but still managed to paint a great picture as well (I think he's done this before). Everyone had great fun. We were even encouraged to add glitter and gems to our creations. There were even paint pens so we could sign our paintings. My signature is indecipherable, sorta like a doctors' signature on a prescription. Grace added a star made of gems to her (Of Course) graceful signature. Each painting was unique and reflected the personality of the painter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

What an interesting art studio as a birthday party venue! Guests received a blank canvas, acrylic paint and paint brushes. Everything we needed to paint were all ready and available. The birthday girl picked a pattern she like ( the night sky and lake) then we followed the instructions. Our teacher gave step-by-step clear instruction and showed us the brush work herself. She was funny, helpful, easy to understand and she also taught us some painting techniques like spreading the paint drops off brush on canvas to create little dots looked like midnight stars in the sky. We were also allowed to add our creative ideas and finished our artwork with glitters and jam stones. Friends and family got together to celebrate the bright young girl's birthday. We enjoyed snacks, drink and birthday cake prepared by the dad. It was such a memorable party. Painting with a twist offers fun drawing class or other art projects with excellent customer services. Our work group of 13 had such a great time. Phil was an amazing instructor. We had such a good, fun time with him. He was so patience and accommodating and was able to gracefully guide our whole group when we each wanted to do something just a little different with our paintings. One of the best ways to spend time with your friends. Drink wine and paint, what more could you ask for? :) You reserve your spot (about $35) and arrive early or request seat arrangements prior to arriving. They set you up with canvas, smocks/aprons, brushes, water, paints, bottle openers, plates, napkins and cups. You just bring yourself and whatever you want to consume. The moderator/instructor is pleasant, entertaining, and easy to follow. You don't have to be an artist to enjoy your time here, but you will create your own masterpiece and have fun doing it. They throw private parties and events for kids, which is something to consider. Hooray for them. read more

I came into PWAT with low expectations for how my artwork would turn out. I am by no means artistic and I expected I would come home with a piece that looks like a child painted it. However, with Connie's patience, humor, and energetic attitude that did NOT happen! Went here for my moms birthday and had a great time! Connie was the instructor and she was so entertaining with her personality and direction. She was a great teacher and made sure that everyone was having fun! I like how they have a variety of paintings you can choose from so you make sure you select a date that has something you will enjoy keeping. You bring your own drinks and food and they make sure you have time to socialize and relax. Great pricing as well, it was worth it :) read more

I had a fantastic time here! If you've never tried a class at Painting With A Twist, you're missing out - you need this in your life! I was intimidated at first as I'd never attempted this type of artwork before (plaster on screen), however, my instructor Brandon was very nice, patient, encouraging, and kind. Hope has a lovely studio and is super nice - I look forward to visiting her studios more often in the future. I know they couldn't see my face behind my mask, but this ole girl was smiling the entire time. Brandon and Hope make a great team. We went to Painting With a Twist with our yoga studio (HotYoga4You on Clark Road owned by the amazing Yolanda), and we painted yogi's with a GORGEOUS sunset backdrop. My husband and I had never been to a class before and it was SO FUN! Connie was our teacher and she was so enthusiastic and hilarious. I just feel as though all these five star ratings are for people with artistic talent. I like the overall concept of getting together with friends and making a project. But I feel as though you must be artistically inclined for your picture to come out halfway decent. I have no artistic ability and mine looks like a five-year-old made it. However that's not what my issue with this place really is. I was here for a party and I brought in three sets of balloons. The room was not ready when promised so the workers offered to help set up. Which we all did appreciate. However she touched the balloons and instead of me having three separate bundles to put throughout the room where I had originally planned, she tangled them all up and I just had one large clump. Again not the end of the world but super annoying when I pay for something that I can't use because someone there Tangled it all up and then wouldn't help fix the problem. Overall I'm just very unimpressed and would never return. I'd much rather go to painted knot or Makers market where you make an incredibly beautiful product that you could actually hang up in your house. read more

Connie was our instructor. She was fun, energetic and helpful. We arrived early gathered together sipping on wine. Everyone appeared to have a great time, one group of ladies were together as a birthday gift for their friend another was painting to give as a gift to a friend and a three generation family were embracing loving memories together. This is an excellent was to spend quality educational time with family and friends. This would also be good for a business group gathering event. Two hours of educational excitement creating a priceless masterpiece and spending quality with friends and family. Highly recommended. read more

I booked it online and was so happy that they were open on a Tuesday, because that was my actual birthday. During the online booking process we each had to choose between vase, wavy bowl or plate. My daughter and I both chose to create a wavy bowl. Then we looked for inspiration online on how we wanted to design our wavy bowls so we would have some sort of plan when we arrived and have maximum time to work on our projects. It was a beautiful drive from Clearwater. The studio had so many creative pieces to look at. Our instructor was great and taught us everything we would need to know about cutting the glass and items we could use to create our own unique masterpieces. We came back a week later to pick up our fused glass art after it had been placed in the kiln. We had such an amazing time, and I can't wait to go again. This may be my new addiction. There are so many different projects to choose from at the studio. We were so happy and proud of our finished wavy bowls when we picked them up. It was such an incredibly fun way to celebrate my birthday. I will be back!

Shattered Glass Sarasota is using deceptive trade practices as defined by the FTC…read more When we were looking for fun things to do around Punta Gorda we ran across a class called Siesta Key Epoxy Resin Workshop. Searched on the class name and came across 3 websites where you could sign up for the class. Somewheregood, Viator and Tripadvisor. The actual business' website never came up. We did not know the name of the business until we came to the class. One of the boards they advertised you could create in their epoxy resin workshop was a lazy susan, not just a small charcuterie board. That is exactly what we were wanting to do. None of the sites mentioned At All that some choices would cost more. As they call it, an upgrade. See the screen shots so you know what info we were given (and Not given) before we signed up for the class. On the way to the class we were caught in a very large traffic jam due to a grass fire in the median of I-75. We were 15 minutes late. The rest of the class had picked their board and started. We told our instructor we both wanted to do a lazy susan. The shop owner never told us what was included and not included in the $99 class. When confronted she said she did, but she did not. She is likely remembering saying that to the rest of the class earlier. The class instructor did not mention the lazy susan blanks were an upgrade when she pulled them off the shelf and gave them to us. We never heard that word until we finished. We reluctantly paid the extra $120 plus tax and let them know we were very unhappy as None of the sites we looked at prior to sign up mentioned anything about an upgrade. The next day when we picked up our boards, we told the shop owner we needed to talk. We told her there was no mention of upgrades and we had screenshots of all three sites where it mentioned what was included. I showed her some while we talked. See screenshots attached. Even more damming, the owner said they do not even carry lazy susans of the size that would be included in the class. The owner asked us what can she do to make this right. We told her 2 things; 1. make it clear on all sites, where people can sign up to her classes, what is included and what is an upgrade. 2. refund the $120 we had to pay extra. She Immediately began talking over me when I started to say the word refund. The talking over me continued each time I tried to say anything. My frustration was evident as she continued even when I yelled "let me finish". She asked again what can she do to make this right. I indicated I had told her. Well of course I couldn't even get that sentence out before she started talking over me again. She said all she would offer is a full refund of our class and the upgrade cost but they would KEEP the lazy susans we had created! We were asking for a $120 plus tax refund and she was offering to refund us $318 plus tax and they would keep the lazy susans. Their offer was to hold our boards hostage to make us go away. They knew it was very likely we would never accept that and we would go away with the boards and no upgrade refund. OR we would accept their only offer and they would sell the lazy susans for more than they refunded to us. I strongly suspect this is not the first time this business has used this "I'm keeping what you just made" tactic when someone complained. With the deceptive business practices and unprofessional behavior of the owner, I do not recommend you take their classes. We will be reporting this business to the FTC, BBB and State Attorney General's Office

I made a beautiful needlepoint that I brought to them to have made into a pillow. I went into the store 2 months later (same icy reception) to check on the pillow and was told that it takes a minimum of three months to make the pillow. Fine. I got a call two weeks ago saying my pillow was lost and could I bring a photo of my project so they could replace the canvas and thread. Ok. I walked into the store last week to reconcile this heartbreaking mistake. The stores attendants again stared at me like I was wrecking their day for the interruption with my pillow. I walked out with no answers or solution. They did replace my threads and canvas so I could do my needlepoint over again. Needless to say I can not recommend this establishment. .

Arrived early. Super sweet staff-warm welcome by the artist Connie and her assistant, Jewel. Had heard this was a blast, and it completely delivered. 3 hr. Mermaid class felt like an hour! Love how they allow you to bring wine and snacks! Great music-current and hip. Connie sang along to the music as she taught-super cute. Brought my bf and was initially worried as he was overpowered by all women-however, he had a blast! Connie made a fuss over him, even showcased his work in front of the class-He had the biggest smile! Laid back. Suggestion-a bigger screen would be nice to see in detail-as if her example was blown up. Will absolutely go again!!! Go with the grain or be as creative as you can, I simply can't believe I painted a decent looking piece of art!!! Thanks so much and I can't wait to come back! read more

Last night, I signed up to paint "Glam Mermaid". I've wanted to do this one for over a year now, & since it isn't done often, & I've missed the other classes. I jumped on it, especially since Connie was the instructor. I knew it was going to be a huge challenge, but I was excited & ready. Connie is so encouraging and positive. She really made something that would normally be beyond my ability so much easier to handle. Connie made our 7 person class so much fun, as usual. I had never painted until I attended the Grand Opening of Painting With A Twist in March. I was truly amazed that I could produce a piece of art suitable to hang on my wall. Me! I have since gone three more times and will go again next week. I'm hooked. Not only is the painting fun, but it's done in such an upbeat and positive atmosphere. EVERYBODY'S painting turns out great! They have sessions for every age group and you can have a private party with as few as 10 people. I brought my 12 year old daughter here for a Girls Night Out. She picked out the painting. Our instructors, Rolf & Jewel were so much fun, so encouraging & positive. They really made an effort to make my daughter feel special & when she was unsure her painting was "good", they both told her how fantastic of a job she had done, pointing out positive aspects.. Saturday, 24 October 2015 I had the pleasure of having Dan Rankin and Jewel as the Artists at Painting with a Twist in Sarasota. We painted Christmas Under the Sea. Dan was a lot of fun. I can not believe he let on of the ladies paint a smiley face on his head. Jewel was a great help as well. She was helping several people. I am looking forward to my next class. Last night 7 of us had a paint party with Connie..........what a blast! Connie keeps the mood lively but at the same time she explains the steps you are taking in language we all can understand. She encourages you to make the painting your own, not all will have the same colors but they are all beautiful because of our personal touches. Came here about a week ago for my sister's bachelorette party! Couldn't have been more of a blast. There were 13 of us and Connie was our instructor. She was so great! We brought our own wine and cheese platter and were able to party the whole 3 hours, never a dull moment. Everyone was very pleased with their finished canvases. They actually looked pretty professional. I like how they encourage you to do your own thing, and yet it comes out awesome. Thanks Connie! Highly recommend this place! read more

Bachelorette Party, we had soooooo much fun tonight! Our instructor Rolph was hilarious and the Playlist was awesome! We were jammin and we brought snacks, wine, and jello shots! Bride had a great time and so did the rest of us! Private party was major great way to spend the evening! I STRONGLY recommend to anyone wanting a fun and unique experience in the sarasota area!! This was my first time going to a Painting with a Twist class and I really enjoyed it. I'm not a great artist, and it was difficult at first, but my picture ended turning out pretty good! It wouldn't have been possible without our witty and helpful instructor, Lue. He was very good at communicating and teaching the class in a way that made it seem so easy. I love this place! Everyone who works here are just awesome, very friendly, fun & helpful! We have done a fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes the last 2 years at this location and they just make it so much fun! We had my friends birthday there yesterday and it was so much fun. They let you set it up so if you have 10 or more people you can choose witch painting you want to do and give you a private room. Connie was our instructor and she let us tweak the painting however we wanted. I didn't want to paint a cat so she helped me paint a poodle instead. She was very patient and encouraging. Connie and Phil were so amazing! I had a GREAT time and I was all by myself - well, there was a room full of people, but I couldn't get any friends short notice. 80 th Birthday outing for my mom ,dad and 2 brothers. None of us can draw , nor paint. My brothers were not happy when we arrived that I planned such a Bday event. Had an awesome time last night with Sierra at #pwatsarasota . After a year we came back for our family reunion fun night and got to spend it with Sierra again. First time was the cow, this year the rainbow giraffe. Will always come back to this location because of her. Bradenton is closer but Sierra is in Sarasota, so we go to Sarasota. read more

Then I saw that there was a Groupon for it, and told my daughter that is what I want to do for my birthday this year. I booked it online and was so happy that they were open on a Tuesday, because that was my actual birthday. During the online booking process we each had to choose between vase, wavy bowl or plate. My daughter and I both chose to create a wavy bowl. Then we looked for inspiration online on how we wanted to design our wavy bowls so we would have some sort of plan when we arrived and have maximum time to work on our projects. It was a beautiful drive from Clearwater. The studio had so many creative pieces to look at. Our instructor was great and taught us everything we would need to know about cutting the glass and items we could use to create our own unique masterpieces. We came back a week later to pick up our fused glass art after it had been placed in the kiln. We had such an amazing time, and I can't wait to go again. This may be my new addiction. There are so many different projects to choose from at the studio. We were so happy and proud of our finished wavy bowls when we picked them up. It was such an incredibly fun way to celebrate my birthday. I will be back!

Shattered Glass Sarasota is using deceptive trade practices as defined by the FTC…read more When we were looking for fun things to do around Punta Gorda we ran across a class called Siesta Key Epoxy Resin Workshop. Searched on the class name and came across 3 websites where you could sign up for the class. Somewheregood, Viator and Tripadvisor. The actual business' website never came up. We did not know the name of the business until we came to the class. One of the boards they advertised you could create in their epoxy resin workshop was a lazy susan, not just a small charcuterie board. That is exactly what we were wanting to do. None of the sites mentioned At All that some choices would cost more. As they call it, an upgrade. See the screen shots so you know what info we were given (and Not given) before we signed up for the class. On the way to the class we were caught in a very large traffic jam due to a grass fire in the median of I-75. We were 15 minutes late. The rest of the class had picked their board and started. We told our instructor we both wanted to do a lazy susan. The shop owner never told us what was included and not included in the $99 class. When confronted she said she did, but she did not. She is likely remembering saying that to the rest of the class earlier. The class instructor did not mention the lazy susan blanks were an upgrade when she pulled them off the shelf and gave them to us. We never heard that word until we finished. We reluctantly paid the extra $120 plus tax and let them know we were very unhappy as None of the sites we looked at prior to sign up mentioned anything about an upgrade. The next day when we picked up our boards, we told the shop owner we needed to talk. We told her there was no mention of upgrades and we had screenshots of all three sites where it mentioned what was included. I showed her some while we talked. See screenshots attached. Even more damming, the owner said they do not even carry lazy susans of the size that would be included in the class. The owner asked us what can she do to make this right. We told her 2 things; 1. make it clear on all sites, where people can sign up to her classes, what is included and what is an upgrade. 2. refund the $120 we had to pay extra. She Immediately began talking over me when I started to say the word refund. The talking over me continued each time I tried to say anything. My frustration was evident as she continued even when I yelled "let me finish". She asked again what can she do to make this right. I indicated I had told her. Well of course I couldn't even get that sentence out before she started talking over me again. She said all she would offer is a full refund of our class and the upgrade cost but they would KEEP the lazy susans we had created! We were asking for a $120 plus tax refund and she was offering to refund us $318 plus tax and they would keep the lazy susans. Their offer was to hold our boards hostage to make us go away. They knew it was very likely we would never accept that and we would go away with the boards and no upgrade refund. OR we would accept their only offer and they would sell the lazy susans for more than they refunded to us. I strongly suspect this is not the first time this business has used this "I'm keeping what you just made" tactic when someone complained. With the deceptive business practices and unprofessional behavior of the owner, I do not recommend you take their classes. We will be reporting this business to the FTC, BBB and State Attorney General's Office

TL;DR: These classes are incredible. I love taking craft…read moreclasses and learning, but other places often focus more on just getting you to some product without really teaching you, and the teacher doesn't really want to be here. That is NOT the experience at 2Di4Glass. Everyone genuinely loves being in the studio and helping explain the process. I'd even taken a fusing class before (elsewhere) that was basically just assembly, but that was not the experience here. We truly learned so much: how to use various types of class cutting tools, about different types of glass, different techniques and fusing types. And then were were really given free rein to make a whole variety of projects (with whatever guidance we needed). Specifically, Trish, Diane, and Terry were all wonderful teachers and lovely people. And there were a bunch of other people just hanging around the studio working on their projects, so you can see how much people love it. I can't wait to go back and play more next time. You should feel comfortable taking absolutely any class here and knowing it will be exceptional.
