The only things I've painted are rental properties and between the lines when I was a kid. To call me an amateur is to give me too much credit. Still, experiencing Painting With a Twist was fun! Interesting painting class. I was invited to the birthday party for a painting class. The studio contents two class rooms. We were excited due to the class. The selection by the birthday girl is to pain a milky way moon night. The teacher was nice to set the base of the painting by lighter colors to darker color. The set the tone of the background. We also learn how to use the object to set the moon. We also have the blue light color use. What I like the most use the painting brush to spray for the stars in the sky. I added some of ideas in the picture to make it mysterious. That will be my own art. read more

SOLID 5 STARS! This was a fantastic experience! Yelp Sensei Nick S invited me to help celebrate his daughter Alexandra's 8th birthday party, along with her friends and their parents. Also present were the famous Yelp Dynamic Duo Boon & Grace, and Dave W. Alexandra had chosen one of the paintings they have on the wall, and the instructor walked everyone through creating their own versions. But I'm a black sheep, so while everyone else followed the instructor's walk-through, I chose to try to recreate the Picasso A I picture featured on my Yelp profile. My painting is no masterpiece, but I had great fun. I can't pronounce the instructor's unpronounceable name, but she is a professional, that's for sure. She told us our paintings would be better if we added painting sound effects, like "Swish, Swish" She even found time to help me with my individual project by showing me a similar self-portrait she made in the Picasso style and helping me with colors and advice. Painting With A Twist can bring out the creative artist in anyone. No prior experience required. Besides painting, they also do acrylic pours, candles, and home decorating projects. They have adult classes where you can drink wine and paint (Bring your own wine, But since this was a birthday party for Alexandra's 8th birthday, we skipped the booze). What more could you ask? Dave W was reluctant (Which was surprising, since he's tried glass blowing, blacksmithing, and lots of other artsy things) but he got into the groove pretty fast. Grace & Boon showed exceptional ability. They created complimentary paintings that showed the moon in different phases. Nick S was busy being the excellent host that he is, but still managed to paint a great picture as well (I think he's done this before). Everyone had great fun. We were even encouraged to add glitter and gems to our creations. There were even paint pens so we could sign our paintings. My signature is indecipherable, sorta like a doctors' signature on a prescription. Grace added a star made of gems to her (Of Course) graceful signature. Each painting was unique and reflected the personality of the painter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

What an interesting art studio as a birthday party venue! Guests received a blank canvas, acrylic paint and paint brushes. Everything we needed to paint were all ready and available. The birthday girl picked a pattern she like ( the night sky and lake) then we followed the instructions. Our teacher gave step-by-step clear instruction and showed us the brush work herself. She was funny, helpful, easy to understand and she also taught us some painting techniques like spreading the paint drops off brush on canvas to create little dots looked like midnight stars in the sky. We were also allowed to add our creative ideas and finished our artwork with glitters and jam stones. Friends and family got together to celebrate the bright young girl's birthday. We enjoyed snacks, drink and birthday cake prepared by the dad. It was such a memorable party. Painting with a twist offers fun drawing class or other art projects with excellent customer services. I just feel as though all these five star ratings are for people with artistic talent. I like the overall concept of getting together with friends and making a project. But I feel as though you must be artistically inclined for your picture to come out halfway decent. I have no artistic ability and mine looks like a five-year-old made it. However that's not what my issue with this place really is. I was here for a party and I brought in three sets of balloons. The room was not ready when promised so the workers offered to help set up. Which we all did appreciate. However she touched the balloons and instead of me having three separate bundles to put throughout the room where I had originally planned, she tangled them all up and I just had one large clump. Again not the end of the world but super annoying when I pay for something that I can't use because someone there Tangled it all up and then wouldn't help fix the problem. Overall I'm just very unimpressed and would never return. I'd much rather go to painted knot or Makers market where you make an incredibly beautiful product that you could actually hang up in your house. read more
