The store provides a variety of gift type items such as hats, t-shirts, socks, coasters, insulated bottles, coffee mugs, bags, backpacks, and games. The owners were gracious enough to let me take pictures in their store and were welcoming to our group. Although we did not stay long or purchase anything, I would revisit the store on a future visit to Amelia Island.

So we tried calling both numbers on the door and no answers from both. We even checked and it said walk-ins were accepted one hour before close and we were here two hours before close so someone should have been there. Very unacceptable. Had heard of these types of things happing before there but wanted to see if they beat the allegations.

We liked the cards and books that told what things happened, who was famous, and what prices were in the specific birth years. After settling on a card my husband asked about gift bags and the sales girl not only found him a gift bag, but provided us with tissue paper and helped to neatly wrap up a t-shirt gift, that was purchased in another store, for him. I read some previous reviews that weren't very flattering, so we just wanted to point out that the young lady working there on the Sunday before Labor Day was very helpful. We also thought the prices were right on par with other souvenir/gift shops; not only in Amelia Island, but in any touristy shopping area.

First I squatted to examine the cookie cutters, then knelt down after several minutes and finally just sat criss-crossed on the floor in the narrow aisle! lol. After dumping every basket of cookie cutters on the floor and going through them- I had $20 worth of cookie cutters, including a couple scottish doggie ones for my girlfriend! She's only been hunting them for over a year- I called her and texted her pictures to verify it was exactly what she wanted! I found a giant sun cookie cutter, a Florida cutter, train, moons and more. Plus I snagged some spigot handles too (for future art projects). We were shopping on Center street and this store caught our interest. The store offers a variety of ornaments ranging from $15 and up. I love Christmas, but I am not a huge buyer of ornaments, however, I do appreciate the effort and detail that goes into creating such items. My wife is a Halloween die-hard; so the Jack the Pumpkin King and Sally ornaments were a cool find, but at $80 each they were out of our price range. In our conversations with the owner, we learned that the building was once a bank. I took a sweet photo of the vault door; it reminded me of Steam Punk. The owner was really friendly and let us take photos of the store which we appreciate. The store was clean, organized, and provided some beautiful displays and ornaments for purchase. I would definitely stop back again on a future trip.

I found a Christmas ornament I would have bought in a heartbeat- except it was $30. It made me take a step back- literally. I love shopping small businesses. But I have also learned by mistake to research if I think for a minute that it's over priced. I'm not talking dollars, double the price and then some is just too much. This store has been here a while- so I know that they have plenty of people who do shop with them- it's just not me. While I enjoy visiting, the prices make it just ok. Experienced going to the morning market to pick out fresh ingredients for hour meal. I settled on a demonstration class with Chef Thompson. The menu for that Saturday night was "Low Country Cuisine", which included a roasted butternut squash salad with goat cheese, smoked bacon, and pickled red onions; Mayport shrimp and Carolina clam perlou; and a winter citrus "french toast" with pear coulis and limoncello whipped cream. Given that my friend is allergic to seafood, I asked about a beef or chicken option substitute and the chef was very accommodating! He added skirt steak to the menu. When we arrived around 5:30 pm for the Saturday class, a group of three was already there. The chef offered wine and water as we settled into the counter-height directors chairs to watch him prepare a delicious meal. Chef Bill is a natural teacher. He seamlessly cooked, talked about the food and the inspiration behind some of the dishes, and interacted with us. The smells, the tastes, and the whiffs of food were incredible! He definitely knows what he's doing! About 2 hours later, we were ready to eat. Chef Thompson set up a buffet for us and we were encouraged to fill our plates and to get seconds. There was more than enough food. This was definitely a five star experience but my OCD with germs drops it down to four stars. I'd have just liked to see a little more hand washing as he was touching his face and other items around the kitchen as he was cooking. But, that was a minor issue and one that I'm sure only I noticed. If you're looking for a little something different for a dinner date or for an activity with friends, check out this culinary institute. You'll be in for a delicious meal that night and with the recipes and tips that you'll get, you can recreate the meal at home too.
