def worth a visit for the incredible ocean views, historic architecture, and beautiful grounds…read moreoverlooking Old San Juan. I enjoyed exploring the fort and taking in the scenery from the massive stone walls. Admission is reasonably priced at $10 per adult and includes access to both Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal for 24 hours, making it a great value if you plan to visit both forts. One of the things I found most interesting is how much there is to explore throughout El Morro's different levels. The iconic garitas (sentry boxes) offer some of the best views and are a symbol of PR. The main plaza gives a glimpse into daily life inside the fort, while the lighthouse continues to guide ships into the harbor today. The Santa Bárbara Battery sits right at water level, where cannons once defended San Juan Bay, and the floating staircase connects the fort's levels. I ended up buying a few hot sauces from the gift shop before leaving. My biggest recommendation is to start your day early if you want to see both castles the same day because they close a bit early. There's far more to explore than you might expect, and having access to both forts makes for a full day of adventure history, views, and plenty of walking.

Castillo San Cristóbal…read more First time I saw it was from a cruise ship cutting into San Juan and that's the way to do it. From the water, it doesn't look like a tourist stop... it looks like it's still on duty. Up close, it's a different story. This isn't just a fort it's the largest Spanish-built fortress in the New World, layered with tunnels, lookout points, and defenses built to stop invasions before they even got started. The history is wild too this place helped fend off a full British attack back in the 1700s. Walking it feels like stepping into a giant, strategic maze with ocean views. It's impressive, a little eerie, and way more intense than you'd expect just looking at it from the outside.

Due to budget constraints from the recovery effort of Maria there are currently only 2 official tour guides in the town of Poncé to cover their four museums. This means that 2-3 of them are closed most of the days to save on operating costs. 2. If you want to visit any of the museums in Poncé it would be wise to call ahead and setup a time and day so you can be sure that their is a guide available to let you in, show you around and give you a good tour. Also, there isn't any A/c so be sure to wear cool clothing and bring a rag or fan to help you stay cool in the summer months. 3. The Music Museum in Poncé is terrific and, if you are fortunate enough to land Mr. Rodriguez as your guide, you will be truly edifies by the boys of knowledge he will share with you. 4. Be certain to stay to the end of the tour where you will get to see (IMO) the finest collection of PR Quatros assembled in one room by the foremost artist and PR craftsman Carmelo Martéll. 5. If you can, ask to see the courtyard. It is amazing and they would like to start utilizing it fore music events and play productions. -Don't walk through the ground brush though, it has tons of sticky burs. However, you may find a mango or passion fruit if yer lucky. We considered this the "gift shop".
