Super cute. Went by during the day. Big set up for a carnival. Seems like it's going to be very crowded tonight. Everyone is very kind. And my Spanish is lousy.

This is a historic fire station in the city of Ponce. It is very recognizable by its bright red exterior. Inside is a small museum filled with artifacts to honor firefighters from around the world. It was very hot the day I went, so I did not stay long as there were no fans to keep the interior cool. There is also a little wishing well on the first floor, where you can make a wish and the change serves as a donation.

On the outer part of the city Central Park in downtown Ponce. Small tour inside if you like. Ford fire truck, looking good. Carter's hose wheel for putting out the fires.

If you visit Ponce, this is a must stop. it is an iconic place, not just in Ponce but in PR. It is very small, won't take up much of your time, and is something cool and historic. The best part is the location. It is in downtown Ponce's central plaza. Every town in PR has a town square with a plaza. It is the heart of the town. This museum makes this one one of the better ones. There is lots of life around the plaza. It is a fun place for kids to run around and there are several restaurants and cafes surrounding the plaza, and also nearby. Definitely worth a stop.

Visited again recently and I just love this place. The men at the entrance have always been so nice and friendly and will gladly provide directions, recommendations and random information about Ponce. We arrived with just about 20 minutes left before closing which was plenty of time to take in everything. Sadly, the student art gallery is gone, but the lions have now moved inside. Looks like they got a little weathered but still look cool. The exterior of the building is just gorgeous. Definitely stop here if you're in Ponce. I also recommend the art museum and La Guancha a boardwalk area with great street food and bars as well as pelicans.

The Parque de Bombas is just the way a museum experience should be, self guided and with the ability to look up close at exhibits. The museum pays tribute to the Ponce firefighters from the late 1800's. It's truly an experience if you are looking for a kid friendly, small place to visit. It's located at the Plaza, which itself has plenty of historical significance and water features to take in while the kids run around. Back to the museum, upstairs they have lions that had once be placed throughout Ponce but have since been placed at the museum. Overall great experience and you can't beat the free admission!

FireHouse in ponce, is more of a historic site, with a few trucks and lots of history on the walls. When you first arrive it has a sign that says its free but if u cant read and ask the guy up front he tells you to read the sign not so courteous. After a walk up the stairs you can enjoy through the windows a view of the town. Statues that have a plaque with details of the history.

Nice museum dedicated to firefighters in Ponce and Puerto Rico. It is a small Musuem which has plenty of information to keep you interested. It is in the heart of the Ponce Plaza which has plenty of things to do. I love this place and the building is very iconic Puerto Rico. You can not mention tourism in Puerto Rico without including this place. Bottom line, if you haven't been here then you should at least check it out.

Cool spot. Very nice, tranquil park with the historic building on the side. Street foods and gift shops. Not to forget the beggars all over. Still a great spot. We thought parking would be tough to find but turned out to be easy and it's free on the weekends. They do give out tickets so don't forget to pay if you come during the week. And careful with the hard to see blue spot on the corner. It's for the clinic and you may get ticketed or towed.

This historic Spanish fort was built in the 1500s & played a major role in defending San Juan from sea attacks during the colonial era. Walking through it, you can really feel the weight of that history. The thick stone walls, open courtyards, tunnels, and lookout points all reflect how strategic & intense life had to be back then, especially w/ the constant threat of war & invasion. What really hit me most emotionally was just being there & taking it all in. Standing on the grounds overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it was easy to imagine what it must have been like centuries ago(soldiers watching the horizon, waiting for ships to appear). There's something powerful about physically being in a place that played such a major role in PR's history. It was honestly a really memorable moment for me. Not just b/c of what I learned, but b/c of how it felt being surrounded by so much history in 1 place. It gave me a deeper appreciation for San Juan & the stories built into the island itself.
