So here's the deal. In the 1hr class, you'll be under his watchful eye as he guides you through some of the basics. You'll first pick a color scheme to apply to one of four solids. Then you'll enter the belly of the beast, where Meticulous Mike will serve as art director, stage manager and Socratic facilitator. (It will behoove you to know that that last one when you visit the studio.) Like many of the finer things in life, it's the intersection of art and science. He will tease out what you already know and fill in what you don't. Then he'll demo ALL of the steps before execution. This thorough rehearsal is a critical step, as we must consider elements like tools, body position, working time, gravity, rotation, temperature, something called a LEHR, and a kiln-like contraption that screams hot at a spicy 2400ºF. And if you go with a buddy, that adds the extra layer of deciding who needs to stand where and at what time to capture some photos. Lots to think about - but fret not, for you're in good hands. Once the demo is done, it's time for the real thing. You can expect a good amount of hands-on, although Michael will do some of the particularly technical bits himself (probably for the better - hot glass is finicky, even more so in a neophyte's grubby little mitts). Once the process is done, you've got a neat piece that you can bring home to put on display. How cool! ("No - it's /hot/," Michael will quickly interject.) ** DISCLAIMER ** the cooling process takes about a day. If you're visiting, do NOT schedule Little River on your last day. You'll need to return the following day to collect your handiwork. ** ADDENDUM ** Having just read RM's and JG's scathing 2O24 reviews - aight, sure, the Mike Aura definitely gives has an edgy, punchy, perfectionist flavor if you will. However when someone is constantly mocking your lack of knowledge, making sarcastic comments and takes personal shots at you, it is not a positive experience. Michael had talked about the possibility of retiring. I think that would be a good plan. I would highly advise others to spend their time and money at other venues in the beautiful town of Stowe. Some of their work is renowned around the U.S., including in DC. I took my parents for a tour and it was such a neat museum, full of the history of both the area and the craft. The docent that was working was really knowledgeable and gave us a great map of the area with sights to see that would have the sculptures and also the quarries. PreCOVID, they do demonstrations of the sculpting. I would love to come back and see that.

Located on the second floor of an imposing Greek revival building, The Current museum is located at…read morethe Helen Day Memorial Library and Art Center on Pond Street in Stowe village. The Current hosts exhibitions of contemporary art produced by well-known nationally and internationally recognized artists and local Vermont artists -- including elementary school children -- and various events showcasing the art and the artists. On our recent visit to The Current, we happened to visit in between signature exhibitions and the museum was displaying works proudly produced by children from local elementary and middle schools in its three galleries. The quality of the artwork fell somewhat short of our expectations -- given the professional artists' work prominently featured on the museum's website -- but my art viewing companion and I still enjoyed viewing this exhibit and supporting the community. We will return to The Current visit next time we are in Stowe. Admission to The Current is free, although donations are welcome. Pro Tip: The Current also offers reasonably priced art classes for children and adults. Check the website for more information.

I used PE for my wedding. I didn't use their DJ services; just rental of two speakers, 1 wireless…read moremic, and two lapel mics. Newt at PE set up the speakers at the ceremony spot (which I expected), but then he also moved them from there to the reception location (which I didn't expect - I figured I'd have to have a friend do this). He also stayed for the entire wedding, which was great. I requested the two lapel mics the day before the event and PE was able to accommodate. I thought the prices seemed a little high at first, but after looking at the cost of the JBL 15" speakers it seems reasonable. The rental went very smoothly and I would definitely use PE again. My wife and I were married on May 20th at the Mt. Washington Resort in NH. Since we are from out…read moreof state we asked the resort's wedding coordinator who she would recommend for a DJ, someone that has already worked with the hotel, has good reviews, etc. Without skipping a beat she recommended Peak Entertainment. Once I went to their site, I could see why. Their site is FULL of great reviews. From the moment we signed on with them and even after the wedding with follow ups, Newt was incredibly responsive. He would sometimes respond to my emails within hours. The site explained that Newt has a few DJs that work with him and that we were not guaranteed any one person in particular for our wedding. Because of this I was a bit nervous. I scoured the site for reviews on different DJs, hoping we would get assigned one of the ones folks loved. But honestly, had to leave it to fate since we wouldn't know who were were having until just a few days before. On the day of our wedding, we met our DJ, Mike, who was incredibly sweet, professional and great at his job. While my wife and I were waiting in the foyer of the dining room, waiting to be announced, Mike popped out to introduce himself and to review our paperwork we sent in. He wanted to be sure he had pronunciations right, special shout-out songs right, etc. We instantly felt at ease. Our wedding was really small, just 46 people. We had folks ranging in ages from my 3 year old niece to my 84 year old grandmother. Mike ensured that the music was loved by all. Since the room was small and had the dance floor directly in the middle, it would have been pretty awkward to have an empty floor, but he kept it full and most folks did not leave it for the entire night. Aside from our guests having a great time, believe it or not we enjoyed seeing Mike have a great time. Any time we looked over, he would be working with a huge smile on his face.
