Do not take Mccolister, Derrell he teaches (Introduction to College) he was interested in knowing one of the students boyfriend who was in the background during live class. He only enjoys and drags on conversations with the white students and act like he didnt notice your black ass and tell no lies, I did bring it up to him after one of our class and he took it the wrong way. I believe thay even when I sent my car accident report and hospital discharge papers from having surgery I missed 2 classes and he ended up giving me an( F) as if I did NOTHING.. Meanwhile all my other professors took my accident into consideration and worked with, gave me more time. Very disappointed that during an emergency situation their employees have no time to get their families in a safe environment Or even prepare their home for what's coming. They are force to work from home by scheduling mandatory meeting all day prior to an emergency call out. (example current situation hurricane ) employees we're allowed to "go home with online meeting all day " what a none sense and inconsiderate people !!!! Most of the professors I've had here have been really helpful, and genuinely care. Willing to go the extra mile to help students in most cases. That being said, student services is a living nightmare. Do whatever you have to do to ensure you never have to enter an appeal process for anything with them. Sell whatever you need to sell to pay for classes, because unless you can prove that the sale of your kidney on the black market did not secure enough for you to pay your 'dues,' they'll let your record be trashed like its nothing. Need advice? Prepare to spend your entire day on the phone swapping between departments because nobody knows how to answer questions, program-specific or for administrative assistance. The professors (at least many of the ones I've encountered) are the redemption of this place. Otherwise, its an absolute bureaucratic nightmare and a great reflection of the failing system that is 'higher education' in the United States. read more

this school is so awful. i am told to take classes on my pathway that aren't being taught, the school makes changes without notifying the students (the summer semester was JUST abolished and STUDENTS WERE NOT NOTIFIED) administration is AWFUL, guidance is low staffed and unhelpful (besides getting accommodations they do nothing for you) they don't send out your accommodation letters every semester as other universities such as FAU do, instead you have to do it yourself. the testing center at the palm beach gardens campus will make you remove hijab or hair coverings even if you are balding (i witnessed this situation with another student) even after talking to the dean of the school about updating the students of changes and current events, nothing was done. technology apps like workday and the student website for student use haven't been updated since 2015. the only thing saving this school from being 1 star is the professors in the english department at the gardens campus are amazing, and deserve better. read more

I am currently a student at this school. The school has multiple campuses. And this specific campus is the worse one i've been to. The school has no library, most of the staff is either students or adults that seem like they don't wanna be there. Another thing is that the main hall smells like someone took a piss all over the floor, and BO. It's absolutely disgusting. In the girls bathroom I saw roaches, like just thinking about this place makes my skin crawl. The school does these events which are nice and the teachers that I have had are pretty great. This review is in specifically for obtaining certificates. Once you completed the program with the school going through the program was a breeze and very helpful but once I needed to obtain my certificate of completion, this is where it went downhill I specifically Want to point out Charmaine Williams for being completely rude, putting me on hold not coming back to me and hanging up on me. From the moment upon speaking to her, you can just hear in her voice that she was not willing to help. I am a firm believer. If you do not like your job, you need to move on and not have the people who are In need of your expertise join your misery. If you are put in a position to help do that or move on, it makes no sense when I'm calling to ask somebody who job it is to help me and they are frustrated with me because they have to help it already nearly impossible to get in contact with somebody over the phone at Palm Beach for you to finally get in touch with somebody and they have a horrible attitude is just unacceptable. read more

I have one class left to earn my degree. I received email after email telling me I had priority access to registration for the summer term...only the college did not offer the one class I needed during that term. That's ok, though, right? Surely, they will offer it in the Fall term, when so many of my fellow classmates need the same class to finish their degrees, right? Wrong. I was once again emailed over and over by the college telling me I had priority access to Fall registration...only to find the one course I need is not being offered. Now I received an email saying Fall registration is open to everyone--and still my class is nowhere to be found. I contacted several people at the college about my last course and if it would be offered in the Fall, and no one appears to know if it will or won't be offered. So, it appears, I will have to wait an entire year to graduate in May of 2023 because they do not have a professor available to teach the one course that I, and many others, need to finish our degrees. This is ridiculously frustrating to come this close to earning a degree and then have to sit on the bench for a year to actually finish it. read more

They only seem to hire people with attitudes. Anytime I talk to someone in admissions, it's a battle. I spent months re-applying just for them to tell me I couldn't take classes because there was so much misinformation told to me. Not to mention the amount of foreign teachers they have... I have failed the same class 3 times just because they don't offer an option for my schedule for a teacher that doesn't have an accent. This school hasn't set me up to feel successful and I'm constantly crying about how difficult they make it to attend college. You're already so limited on what your major can be with this college, I'm so tired of settling because I can't afford a major university with teachers who actually WANT to teach. read more

I would not recommend this school to anyone, not even for an AA. First, the quality of teachers is generally bad. The teachers who work here are in it for the TEACH grant, so their student loans get paid back. So the teachers are generally awful. Some are good, but the majority are not. Do not waste years of your life here unless it's your only option. If you go here and transfer to another college, you will be severely behind. It's not the best, but not the worst. Professors were actually quite good for the most part, but the staff at the college could be a bit rude at times. I used it to receive my A.A. to transfer to F.I.U. for my B.A. and it served its purpose and worked fine. For me, I did not have good grades from high school, so this was my only option to get into a better university. I have to complain about my recent visit this last week to see Dawn Debuvitz, the managing Advisor on 06/08/2015. I had spoken to Chantal Duplan, the associate to the Academic Dean on 06/04/2015 about overriding a class because I was late registering for this summer and she explained how to use the all class option on the website without logging in. Unfortunately the website only showed me one full chm1045 class and zero bsc1010 classes. So I emailed her and she told me I should talk to an advisor. I went to see Dawn Debuvitz as soon as I could. My meeting with her was a total waste of time. She rudely refused to listen to me and proceeded to go through the motions of showing me what Chantal Duplan just told me to do over the phone and couldn't be convinced to stop and tell me anything new. She continued to insist that there were no bsc1010 classes for the second summer semester without looking at her own positions schedule, insisting on using the "public" website side to look at the all classes option. Not surprisingly, she didn't find anything new. According to her, out of your whole college system there are no bsc1010 classes for the second summer semester. Out of your whole Boca Raton campus there is only one physical class for bsc1010 that's happening the whole summer. I personally know students now that are taking bsc1010 at Boca Raton campus that are not in the class listed on that public side of the website. She lied to me and refused to use her own computer account to look up classes, than called Duplan and suggested for her to lie along with her story. I'm going to contact my representative in the department of education that I know about this. Your employees total refusal to do anything, lie and misrepresent their responsibilities as public officials at a public school is a foolish mistake. There is a reason for being respectful and courteous to people you meet at your job when you work with the public, unless you live in some make believe fairyland where nothing can ever go wrong. read more

Not the place to go when you need help. I was a great student at palm beach state until my grandmother passed away and my mother went into rehabilitation. This school decide to deny my financial aid and charge me about $900 while proceeding to never answer my calls, call me back or answer my emails. I am severly disappointed and sad that this school denied me the help i needed when i supported them so much. read more

I could only take two classes because I'm paying out of pocket and out of state fees. One of the teachers was fine, didn't really teach much but it was just English so whatever I guess. The math teacher, however, he could barely speak English, was rude as hell to anyone asking questions, and just overall it was horrible. MML frequently screws up and he refused to edit any grades, just tells you to redo an hours worth of work instead. The campus is small and pretty shitty, tucked in to FAU. It doesn't have like a library I'm pretty sure? Or at least I could never find it. read more

My experience at this college has been extremely positive overall. As far as my specific objectives are concerned, this campus has everything. Yes, a library would be a great addition, but we still have a lot of resources close by/at our fingertips. Plus, the gym has been revamped, the cafeteria is changing vendors over the summer, the parking lot is being updated...lots of good things are happening to improve the facilities for the students. The best thing about this school, however, is the caliber of its teachers. With very few exceptions, all the professors I have encountered here are wonderful human beings who are fully invested in their students and their success. I also like that it's a small campus; so easy to get around! Excellent value for my $$$$ read more

Many people often look down upon Palm Beach State and Community Colleges in general. Most people overlook the fact that these colleges help students save thousands of dollars on general education classes before attending a university. I think Palm Beach offers very sophisticated courses that help propel students into a major or a field of work. My time at Palm Beach has taught me responsibility and a good work ethic. I recommend students that can't afford university tuition to come to Palm Beach, it's just logical. Why pay quadruple the price at a university for the same material? I like it here. read more

One of the top 10 cheapest schools in the whole nation. Helps students save a lot of money. Campus is real small but easy to navigate and its on the FAU campus. A lot of diversity with students of all races and ages. They dont have a library but they have a great tutor center and pretty much everything a student needs to succeed. read more

Whole place should and could be replaced by the same homework apps they force you to download to do their pointless and out of touch lesson plans. Good place to learn compliance to work for some soul crushing international corporation or government bureaucracy. Not great for learning to start your own business or learning an actual productive skill. As it stands they are just middlemen between the online classroom and the students. The fact that roughly half their staff is either senile, unprofessional, or just too incompetent to get hired at FAU alone pretty much guarantees they're more of a barrier than a benefit to a true education. read more

Any time I needed anything from the administration, financial aid, or academic advising offices, I had the most frustrating, ridiculous and irritating experiences ever. I've attended this college for three years and I cannot get out of here fast enough, because the administration sucks big time, from the bottom to the very top. I had advisors giving me inconsistent information about classes that I supposedly needed to take. Both the admission office and the financial aid office have LOST documents that I had already submitted, which caused me to waste time and money to produce again. They need to do something about their administration system, because it is BAD. They are not professional and they do not care about you. read more

If you want see an advisor I suggest you visit more than one and DO NOT go see SHERRY FLETCHER!! She is an African American woman with short curly hair and walks fast with a hop skip, and usually wears short dresses even though she appears to be 65 years of age. She will take you in circles and even recommended classes you DO NOT NEED. I went in today and I ended up having to have her go through what few classes I have left to finally leave this hell hole. She blocked me from taking any other courses except for the one class that she chose for me to take in fall semester. I refused to only be able to take one course in the semester especially since I am almost done with school. I went to her to tell her to remove whatever lock she has on class registration and she refused! I have never been so angry with another human being. Now I have to go through the Dean to explain the situation and try to get it handled. Please if you know what's best for you DO NOT go to SHERRY FLETCHER for advising. And make sure u see multiple advisors before u go picking classes because they will set you back. read more

I've experienced two separate academic advisors telling me to choose a different major or "I don't see you doing well in that" blah blah blah because I had a few bad grades a year ago. Try taking a course in being uplifting and positive to students who come to you for advice, not tearing them down, discouraging them, and telling them to be a "tech" or something.
