Booked my trip via American Express which got me a late 4PM checkout, complimentary breakfast (outstanding buffet and cook to order options), complimentary spa visit (valued up to $150), and free dessert when paying with the card at any of the Fasano restaurants (inside the hotel and across the street at Gero). All the staff were great and the small gym is good enough for light workouts. Be sure to check out the pool with jacuzzi and steam room on the 21st floor--easy to miss. Of course, checking out live music at the Baretto Lounge is an absolute must. I caught some great acts during my most recent stay. I prefer the location and "established, refined elegance" of the Fasano to Rosewood, though the latter does have a larger/nicer gym, great spa and a members only SoHo House but it also attracts far more tourists whereas Fasano is in more of an upscale locals area of Jardins along with an attached high end mall (though Rosewood does have Cidade Matarazzo).

The wine wall that floats in the back of the restaurant is stunning, and it's also now part of my personal "future dream house" goals. Naturally, there is quite a wide wine selection, which is heavy on Italy but also covers many other regions and grapes. I enjoyed the 2017 Carmenere, which paired beautifully with duck. The starter of asparagus soup set off the meal. While I'm normally not too big on asparagus, this soup nicely muted the harshness of regular asparagus while retaining just enough of the flavor to be perfect. The veal-stuffed pasta was divine! This isn't a preparation that I have seen too many places, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The veal wonderfully complemented the pasta itself and was a perfect portion size. My lamb and polenta main dish was a generous portion size, with the lamb being cooked perfectly. It was just great. We rounded things out with a beautifully presented dessert plate. In so many ways I feel that everyone that utilizes this hotel wants to keep it a secret, it's so posh and easy to stay here, I see why people live at Ca'd'Oro too. A few things to get out of the way before I start this rather long and detailed review. I've been to São Paulo many times, it's an unbelievable place to see, staying here will make it that much more unbelievable. The vibe here is so ultra private, luxurious and secluded you don't even feel like you are in São Paulo, and that's a good thing. When you open your curtains and look out at this global city in the morning, afternoon and evening....you will feel so blessed. São Paulo is a mega city. The metropolis is an alpha global city, and the most populous city in Brasil, the Western Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. There is no shortage of anything in São Paulo, other than space. You could stay anywhere while you're here, don't screw this up and for sure stay here. I'm going to try to best explain why you should stay here. Because seriously, this is hands down my top 3 hotels ever. Forever. In the case of Ca'd'Oro it has the location that is perfect for being able to strike out and see and navigate as much as the city as possible, whether its business or pleasure Hotel Ca'd'Oro is the place for you. São Paulo is not easy to navigate, its old, has heavy traffic and pollution, it's over populated and the city grew too fast since day one. Hotel Ca'd'Oro is seriously your refuge from all of that, it's like a safety zone after a long day dealing with the stress that São Paulo can undoubtedly bring. The hotel itself is very boutique, the feeling of seclusion almost makes you feel bad for the rest of the city, you will feel spoiled here your entire stay. You will feel as you are the only ones staying at this hotel for several reasons. The first reason, the warmth of the employees and staff here, they make you feel so welcome and special. The staff/family here are absolutely the warmest and most loving people you'll ever meet. The second reason is that every single floor isn't part of the hotel, it's actual residences, this is such a cool hybrid idea. One that could only work here. The level of class in São Paulo is simply higher than the metros of the US, guests would be loud and not be as respectful as Brazilians are here. The third is the size and over all service of the establishment, absolutely incredible. The overall size of the pool area, dining room, breakfast area, bar, lobby etc. are small however perfect in every way. The hotel was designed perfectly!!!! Every inch is pure class. Nowadays, it's possible to find millions of descendants of Italians here. This hotel would easily beat most hotels in Italy, at least match them. The circular windows were interesting to look out of. The bathroom arrangement with the rising separator was interesting and unique. I ate at the restaurant in the hotel several times and the food was quite good and delicious. Walking from the hotel to the nearby park was convenient and felt very safe. During a Sao Paulo summer, a pool is absolutely essential. * Great surrounding neighborhood, safe, with lots of bars and restaurants we enjoyed. As is most 5 star hotels, we were greeted as we pulled up in our car and was offered luggage service, with a smile. We were warmly greeted by Sophie at the front desk. She was extremely friendly and helpful, announcing a big upgrade to the club level floor while she explained our American Express fine hotel benefit. She made the check in process stress free and pleasant. The room, 2027, had an amazing view of the bridge, Ponte Estaiada Octavio Frias de Oliveira. The furnishings were slightly dated but still functioned well. The room was clean and smelled great. It was a large room with a nice desk and oversized nightstands on each side of the bed. There were lots of plugs, but most were not universal plugs, so be sure to bring a European adaptor. There were two US/BRAZIL plugs but be sure your device can accept 220V or be prepared to fry the thing you plug in! The kind sized bed had high quality sheets and a selection of foam and feather pillows. The room temperature showed 18C (64F) did not seem right. It felt closer to 73F, which is hot for us when there is no airflow in the room. We requested and quickly received a fan which helped with the temperature. The bathroom was huge with a 10-foot rain shower, toilet, bidet, large tub, and huge closet with built in safe. They supply nice cotton robes and flip flops. The hotel uses single use toiletries, which was a bit disappointing for a modern, 5 star hotel. The supplied single use toiletries were larger but lacked the quality feel (and smell) of something in a 5 star hotel. The one exception was the bar glycerin soap, which was the only bathroom item that was geared for a higher end hotel. The Grand Club, located on our floor, was very nice. The staff, led by Ernesto during the day, was super accommodating and friendly. The evening crew was just as nice. A nice surprise was the availability of liquor in addition to wine and beer. They also make specialty drinks by request, a nice touch and something most loyalty lounges have eliminated. The location of this hotel is NOT ideal but the service that this hotel provides more than makes up for having to get a car to everywhere! The hotel deserves a 5 star rating.

It was a odd that the bedside lights would only work with the main switch activated, which would also (automatically) turn on a large light behind the TV. This meant there were effectively no bedside lights! A bit of an weird smell in our room at times too. The bed was comfortable, the shower was outstanding, and the breakfast was pretty good too. Some road noise (we were at the front in one of the rooms with a balcony), but nothing too bad, luckily.

On the 28th floor there is an infinity pool a well equipped gym and on the 29th floor there is a Amazonian spa. You can get an hour and a half massage for about US$90. I'm highly recommending this hotel if you want to visit São Paulo and style.

For disclosure, I'm a Hilton loyalist and am treated well at their properties so I may be biased in my review but they rarely let me down, have consistent places to stay all over the world, and have been well worth my loyalty over the years. For this, my stay scored me an upgraded room that was huge, had 2 bathrooms, a living room, a very large main bathroom with separate tub and shower, and a small service kitchenette. The cleanliness of the room and the entire hotel was impeccable. Plus, a view of the beautiful bridge! So, I am having a very enjoyable stay here currently while writing this. The downsides to staying here (in my opinion) are few and individually subjective so in no particular order: 1. The location is going to only be great for you if you are here for a reason to be in the Brooklin area of the city. It is not close to GRU (main airport) and took about an hour in an Uber to get here with minor traffic. 2. It is not close to most tourist points of interest such as the Municipal Mercado or the Moema nightlife district and there is not much going on in the hotel (there is a small bar that is pretty boring and closes early). Also, there is not really much around the hotel in terms of large variety of interesting restaurants within walking distance so plan on an Uber or taxi budget for your stay if you want to get out to do anything. 3. The Executive Lounge was conducive to a nice view but was not set up to do much in terms of work. I travel for business and love to use exec lounges to catch up on emails and that sort of thing because it gets me out of my room and around other people when I'm on the road and it lets me observe and speak with the local employees so I get a good sense of local culture. But this lounge had only 2 wall outlets to plug into while sitting, neither near a window. So my time in the lounge was limited either by my laptop battery capacity or my tolerance for sitting at a wall without a great view of the skyline and bridge. I know, total first world problem but it will be an issue for real road-warriors who are not here for tourism. 4. Finally, the breakfast meat in the exec lounge was inedible. One of the things I was really looking forward to in Brazil was breakfast Portuguese sausage (aka Linguica). I learned to eat and love it from my dad in Hawaii where it is a breakfast staple. I am on breakfast day 1 of my stay and what they had in the chafing dish this morning (both Portuguese sausage and English bacon) was really bad. Both were dried out, desiccated and chewed like jerky. I'm sure that they were recycled from breakfast leftovers from previous days. I am sure that Brazil can do Portuguese sausage better than that so hopefully Hilton steps up its game in my subsequent breakfasts. They have 3 more mornings with me to get it right haha. As you can see, my downsides to this hotel are pretty esoteric. The first 2 are geographic that the Hotel has no control over. The 3rd one is me acting shamelessly entitled. But the 4th is a cardinal sin (at least to a foodie) so they have to get this one right in my book! Otherwise, my stay here has been outstanding so far. The staff are really nice and I have not had a communication problem with any that some others have commented on in their reviews. I not only feel well taken care of but the modernity of the interior space is comfortable and appealing to my eye. I would definitely stay here again on future trips.
