Pandora's Box is a big, bright, beautiful gift shop located on Sanibel Island. Not your "run-of-the-mill" store, this location was filled with a number of unique and interesting items. A joy to peruse in the mid-day heat, sunlight glittered off the glass work in window. A section toward the front of the store sold an assortment of Christmas ornaments, providing a number of options to choose from to add to my collection. Numerous displays throughout the store held unusual but visually interesting works of art for purchase. What I remember most about the location was the pop of color each item had against the stark white floors and shelves that made up this establishment. Cases of jewelry reside in the middle of the store. Everywhere you look there is something fun to look at. The pinnacle of my visit though was a gander through their chest of antique jewelry. On a whim I opened a couple of drawers and when I came to the "Pearl" drawer (one of my favorites!!) I discovered a gorgeous bracelet to wear to my upcoming wedding. What a special find! The minute news of my discovery got out in the store, the employees and fellows customers filled with excitement. One person stepped up to help me try it on, while another directed me to the closest mirror to evaluate my potential purchase. The whole experience made me feel not only welcome but very special. It's not everyday you find the perfect item to pair with your wedding dress back home in the Northeast. My purchase was packaged carefully for my trip home. The price was more than reasonable (very affordable) and I am thrilled to have a special story to go along with my special day. read more

We went and visited on a weekend trip, and the items were beautiful and the staff was helpful. I fell in love with a blown glass jellyfish light, but I didn't end up buying it and regretted it afterwards. My husband later reached out to the staff who were so helpful in helping him choose a lamp to match our decor and got airmailed to us as a surprise. It arrived in Michigan in perfect condition, and it is absolutely gorgeous. I appreciate the staff going above and beyond, best surprise ever! I definitely plan on coming back! read more

Sadly walked out of this shop empty handed. The lady there was...not nice and didn't seem interested in helping us. It's ok. Lots of places to spend money around there. We visited while staying on Sanibel in mid February.. really looked forward to visiting this store, lovely shop.. but the owner and sales people were rude, not even asking if we needed to see anything. Acted like it was a major imposition to ask to see anything, pretty much ignored us. Very disappointed in the rudeness and lack of service. Lovely items but not worth the time to be ignored. Won't go back. Too bad lowest rating is 1 star.. Went to the other shops, they were much nicer. Went to the Cedar Chest jewelry store and they were so welcoming and kind, bought a lovely diamond mermaid ring.. definitely will go back to the Cedar Chest again. read more

I have been coming to Sanibel Island since the early 80's and a trip wouldn't be complete without a bag of shells and a trip to Pandora's Box to purchase a keepsake to remember my trip by when I'm back up in the cold of Ohio! I am always greeted with a "hello" and a smile, AND that smell!!! The potpourri by the door called "Seaside" can take you back to the beach in a sniff!!! I have many of the glass globes and ornaments and plan on continuing to add to both! Such a joy to see all the beautiful blown glass and artisan jewelry! I live locally in the winter months and shop here often for gifts and pieces for my home. The items at Pandora's are lovely and unique. To the person from Texas who rebuked the staff in an earlier review for denying him entry when maskless, I would like to remind him that Sanibel law requires masks inside stores. I thank the helpful and gracious staff at Pandora for safeguarding everyone's health and for being courteous every time I shop in their store. read more

Rude employee with unfortunate hair scolded my 5 year old daughter & made her cry for touching a bar of soap. Great name though - It's like THEY opened the Pandora's box of tacky pastel beach art that borders on vulgarity. I have been going to Pandora's Box for years. Today I took my kids in their second store that has stationary and cards to pick out my mom's birthday card. We were in the store less than two minutes and the crotchety employee told my five year old not to touch a card he was picking out for his grandma, and then told my 4 year old not to touch a kid's book.....A KID TOUCHING A KID'S BOOK... seriously?! I go to Sanibel Island for vacation every February, and this is one of the first places I visit on shopping excursions. Beautiful and unique items, not your usual Florida tourist spot items. Do yourself a favor and drop in. Not cheap, but quality usually isn't. read more

I inevitably end up stopping here on the way to Captiva, and they have interesting stuff. I like the fact that they've got a little Christmas display year round, because with all my ornament exchanges, it's fun to be able to buy a little Florida ornament for someone as a change. They've got other things, for sure--knick-knacks and objets d'art and baby stuff and jewelry and...well, all kinds of random things. It's sort of fun to poke around amongst them, even if you're not considering buying anything. This, and The Beach House, are the two great reasons to stop at the Periwinkle Plaza during your drive to Captiva. Plus it allows you to get out and stretch your legs a bit. read more

Wow! What can I say. All the hype I heard about this store and the personnel was so blatantly rude there was no way I was buying anything from them. They never spoke or acknowledged we were even in the store...maybe we had on out invisible cloaks. Went several doors down and spent our money at Wilford and Lee and enjoyed the shopping experience. Heads up snooty ladies...do your books and plan your next trade show after saying hello to your customers. read more

The cashier (who may possibly also be the owner) had a poor attitude while ringing up my purchase. She made a very loud, rude comment about my personal belongings that was completely unnecessary. I personally have several years of experience in retail management and customer service myself, so I can understand the difference between having a bad day and just being rude. I definitely do not recommend this shop to anyone living on the island or visiting, unless you enjoy having poor service and and someone intentionally trying to embarrass you. read more

I went to Pandora's' Box Too. They had cute greeting cards. I went up to purchase one and asked the cashier to throw away my receipt. She refused and I asked her why. She basically said I had to keep it so she ( the one staff member at the store) would know I didn't steal the card. Really? She just sold it to me! Plus there were only 3 people in the store at the time! Cards were very pricey and cashier rude. I would skip this one. read more
