We ended up a having a long enjoyable lunch before heading back to the ship. We got there by lunchtime (12:15) and were greeted warmly at the door, being seated immediately. What I really like about Hard Rock Cafes is that each location is different on the inside, but the food is similar and consistently good. We got sat right below an Elton John jumpsuit. Yani was our server, and was mostly attentive throughout. The crowd was diverse, definitely with some tourists like us but also quite a few working locals, taking a break for lunch. We placed our order and the food came soon after. -- BBQ Platter. My wife chose the 2 meat platter (23,95€) with pulled pork and bbq spare ribs. If we were more hungry, would have gotten the 3 meat (including BBQ chicken) for an extra 2€, but we knew we couldn't bring any food back to ship. The pulled pork was excellent, extremely tender and without gristle with the right amount of bbq sauce. The ribs were generous: a half rack, sourced from a good supplier since it was very meaty. -- Southwest Bowl (21,95€) - I've had good luck with this dish in the past, but not this time. Even though it used unusual ingredients (like fava beans and various greens), the mix along with a southwestern ranch dressing didn't really work for me. The chicken breast served on top was solid: large, moist, and filling. It could have easily been a Hard Rock in the states, with one difference being a portual beer (Sagres pint for 6,60). It was very good from a bottle, wish they had a local beer on tap but they told me they had run out. It took a bit of time to get the check, so I had to go up to get it. The 13% tax (23% for alcohol) is included in the price. Learned that tipping in Portugal is not expected, but 10-15% is not unusual for great service. Plus this being mostly an American brand, I think it is expected here. Was able to pay by credit card, though you have to put any gratuities on it first before running it through.

The great news is that with Mini Bar, you get the best of both worlds - the creative menu without needing a babysitter. Mini Bar is kid friendly, and the server we had was so awesome with our kids that I can't sing his praise though. We opted for the Tasting Menu, and ordered a pizza and fries for the kids. The food arrived pretty quick, until we hit the mains, then it slowed down a bit too much for my liking. The space is pretty interesting, and there's plenty of room, so you don't feel squished in. All in all though, great experience. Happy that I got to have my meal without having to ditch my kids with a stranger in a foreign country.

Place looks small from the outside but that is only the ground floor, the lace is actually huge. Pictures of celebrities packed the walls, saw one of Rob Lowe but all others are of Portuguese celebs I assume. Service was very slow, thought they forgot about us a couple of times. Guy slicing Iberian pork makes his rounds and it looks so good you order one for the table. Warm bread and olives already on the table and they are not complimentary. Places packed for a Wednesday night and the food was good but on the pricey side. It was not as fun as the many smaller family owned spots we were accustomed to where the staff interacted with you more and made you feel like family and we stayed a lot longer at these places. This place felt more sterile. We did not get that warm welcoming feeling here. If you are not into that the this place is fine as the food is very good. If I had known all this would not have come here. I will not return, again the food Is good.

This distinctly French place is just a short hop from the Boca do Inferno and Cascais. Owner Pierre-Marie and his daughters deliver an excellent example of great French cuisine without ever having to leave the country. For lunch a our group of three all chose the menu of the day which included a vegetable soup as an appetizer, a fillet of St. Pierre fish (John Dory in English) as the main course and a Pear in wine sauce for dessert. The fish fillet was absolutely spectacular, very delicate, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. The fish was accompanied by potatoes and courgettes (zucchini) which complemented the fish in taste. The poached pear in wine sauce was da' bomb - I am not usually a fruit guy, but I have to admit that it was really exceptional. The dish was very well executed, the flavors were balanced, not too much wine nor tartness nor sweetness everything was perfect. My first visit to the bistro but certainly not my last, well worth the trip here.

I believe 12 euros. Large portion of cold fois gras served with tasty salad fig compote and toast points. Tasty beginnings. Mains confit of duck served with sautéed potatoes. 14 euro Duck breast with potatoes baked with cream and cheese. Both well seasoned adequate portions. Wish duck breast cooked less but was perfect medium.Dessert had apple tart. Overall nothing extraordinary but comfort French bistro food and a nice option if you become tired of never ending similar standard Portuguese options.
