I was trying to find creative ways to celebrate my husband's birthday during this COVID season. So I hired a solo drummer Jay, from PanJive to come out to entertain my family of four and our neighbors, from a safe distance of course. I turned my front yard into a concert venue offering a brief moment of escape during a period of social distancing all the while celebrating my husband's birthday. PanJive was really easy to work with from beginning to end. Jay was on time, very professional, engaging, entertaining and has talent that far exceeded our expectations. To top it off their rates are very reasonable. I recommend PanJive to anyone looking for creative ways to celebrate any occasion (whether it be birthdays, anniversaries, graduations or neighborhood block concerts) during this quarantine period. This whole group, from Jay and Mark to Eva in the office handling all of the logistics, is a rare combination of relentless professionalism, a positive attitude every time they show up for a gig, and a super helpful approach when dealing with scheduling and logistical changes. We booked them for a restaurant gig (which is not always easy for performers) and have brought them back month after month over the past year and a half because of their seamless cooperation and the response from the guests in the restaurant, regardless of age or demo. The music is great, too. Tracks are consistently high quality to accompany the duo, Mark absolutely shreds on the guitar, and Jay is a great frontman with his steel drum and percussion skills. Both are really good vocalists with a broad playlist. They definitely fill the restaurant with a fun and playful atmosphere. Jay and Eddie part of Panjive played my parents 50th wedding anniversary party. They were AWESOME!!! The whole process was so easy! They were always quick to respond when I had questions. This is a fantastic band, I heard them at Gladstone's in Long Beach and they blew my mind. The music is melody to your ears. They can play any type of music with the steel drums. Okay, so I have to admit- I have mixed feelings about Panjive. There are so many positives, yet the one negative is kinda a big deal. We hired them for our wedding and the process of hiring and securing the band was a breeze. Eva was VERY nice and always ready and willing to go over any details that needed to be taken care of during the planning process. We submitted the deposit, they confirmed receipt and then we touched base with them a couple of weeks prior to the wedding to make sure that we had a clear understanding of all of the important songs (i.e., first dance, etc...) Jay was super friendly and really laid back with regards to being flexible with our song choices. The ceremony was wonderful. They provided a unique sound and guest seemed to love them- at the ceremony. Now here is the not so great part. We arrived at the reception and the cocktail hour was still going on and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Music was playing and people were mingling. This is where the fun kinda ended with regard to the music. Once guest came over to the reception dining area it seemed that the music turned from fun Caribbean music to elevator music. I had a number of gust ask me why they were playing such dull music and it really was a disappointment, seeing that the band is suppose to keep the event lively. Nonetheless, Jay did call to thank us for our business after the event and he is such a nice guy and although they were great for the ceremony, they simply were not a good fit for our reception.If you do decide on this band for an event, make sure to hire a DJ in conjunction with Panjive- specifically if you plan to have them for a reception. read more

Panjive is a legit steel drum band. They played at my wedding reception this weekend and everyone at the party loved them! There was only one steel drummer (Jay) and a guitarist (Mark) because the venue was small, but the the sound was rich and lively nonetheless. I'll be honest, I wasn't too impressed with their sound bytes on their website, but they are a 100x better live. Panjive was one of the big reasons our reception was such a huge hit.
