Restaurant Schwanen does the latter and surprisingly does it all very well. I had the fortune to eat every meal there and was so happy with every seating. For breakfast you get a selection of all the local cured meats, cheeses, breads/pastries, juices, cereals. All very fresh and brought in by the many local farmer/purveyors For lunch I had an applesauce amuse, a stellar classic Austrian schnitzel, a spatzle soup and local berry juice. Dinner is where Schwanen really shines. Chef Antonia Moosbrugger has a Michelin star for a reason. She and Chef Franziska Hiller go for the best local ingredients foraged, hunted and supplied by the immediate region. She also worked at 2 star Tantris in Munich, considered one of the top 50 restaurants in the world. I was seated in the the classic "Forest Lounge" dining room. A contrast of where the modern aesthetics of the breakfast/lunch service, this dining room has preserved classic interior design and it's laid out with historic touches and artifacts. Now my Austrian is non existent so Ill let the pictures do the talking. Had a sweet woodruff apertif, dendelion soup, some local cheeses, locally shot venison, an out of this world cheese spatzle, house made bread and a number of desserts. It was quite epic. The dichotomy however is that you're in a village far removed from the bustle of modern civilization, up in the mountains and into the forest. It is unique to be sure. Emanuel Moosbrugger who runs the front of house and overall hotel operations now is a veteran of Benu, Daniel and tons of other high end hospitality establishments so he knows how to take care of guests. It's a remote part of the world but should you be on vacation of traveling through the area it's well worth checking out.

The restaurant has a retro vibe, the main room is small but with cool decorations. You don't really have a view of the mountain (there is only one small window, facing the street), but you won't need the view to kill time, i'm sure the food will grab all your attentions. The services were really friendly and they all spoke in fluent english, and don't worry if you can't pronounce crazy german words - there is an english menu for you. The food are not cheap, one nigiri is about 6 euro or more - and the rolls are about 15 euro+. However, i think it is acceptable in this kind of touristy place. I am from Taiwan, and traveled to japan more than 20 times. To be honest, we were worried about the quality of the sushi at first since the european taste of Japanese food is really different than the real asian taste. But, the dishes were decent ! It was fusion and creative, but it doesn't lose the spirit and soul of authentic. The sashimi was sliced with the right angle with about 0.4 cm, and it was fresh. The rolls were fresh with a good twist of fusion sauce - you won't get tired of the taste even after 8 pieces. In general, i would totally recommend for you if you are craving some sushi or asian fusion dishes - the only note is that this place is not cheap and it would probably cost you around 70- 90 euros to have a full meal.

After what it seemed like weeks looking for the perfect hotel there was a choice between the Rundeck and M3. I am so happy that we decided on the M3 Hotel. See, I am a type of person that will pay for quality and this place did not disappoint us. We arrived via train from Innsbruck and of course started our adventure taking the 'scenic route' to the hotel (we missed the little passageway to cut through) - as if a whole day of flying isn't bad enough :o). We walked in were greeted by Ramona and Lisa. These were the ladies that communicated with me via email for the past few months to ensure we had everything and to answer any questions that I had. It was great to put a face to a name. I thanked them as they were so kind to send us packets to help us get around St. Anton prior to us arriving. We then checked in and were given a tour of our room. The rooms - were modern, sleek, and was everything I expected. I was loving that we had a street view. I love people watching with a espresso so this was perfect. The double room was quite spacious and was practical. I have lots of treasures that I bring with me on some vacations and all of my treasures had a proper place. The infrared sauna was a nice touch and overall the amenities were great. There is a complimentary breakfast that was more than enough to suit all types of appetites. If you have a picky eater in your family well, you won't hear a peep out of them as there are a variety of foods including yogurts, fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, ...and eggs/omelettes made to order. Every afternoon they have snacks so we made our way up for a couple of snacks but found ourselves drinking more coffee and taking in the view. Tried the restaurant La Hazienda and the food was exceptional. I hear its the best restaurant in town so there's nothing like walking downstairs to get a bite to eat and just have to walk right back up and return to your room. We ended up meeting the owners and they are true gentleman and truly want their customers to have a great experience. I'm the chatty type so they didn't mind giving me an Austria Wine 101 class on one of the nights and explaining the history of the place and their background. Like I said the La Hazienda is the place to go! We had a blast at St. Anton and M3 was a major part of that. They are on the main strip, centrally located, and it works out perfectly You can get your lift tickets from the front desk and get your board/skis and boots from the Jennewein (complementary) and you're off on the slopes. I can't say enough good things about this hotel but as another review mentioned - you certainly get what you pay for!! That said, my rating is based on the taste of their food and detailed review follows. Beef Tartare - it was an appetizer special and although I am a big fan of that particular dish, I have to say that this was the only dish that I had that night, that didn't do it for me. Instead of being hand cut (the way I like it), the meat was ground (which is a typical way beef tartare is prepared in Austria), so I will skip providing my rating for this dish. Melt in your mouth tender, beefy, juicy and combined with creamy polenta it was a star of the evening. Wiener Schnitzel made with pork meat. 4 stars. A solid version of Wiener Schnitzel and although it tasted very good, you can find a lot better versions of this dish in Sankt Anton. Austrian Ravioli stuffed with Porcini Mushrooms and cheese - 4.5 stars. Cooked to a nice al-dente and covered in warm brown butter. The stuffing was savory and thick and you could taste the porcini inside. Although a little more expensive than other restaurants in town, I recommend this restaurant for a nice romantic dinner in St. Anton.
