From the start, he was unresponsive and disinterested. He missed court appearances, failed to return calls or emails, and completely ignored the documents and evidence I sent him--often dismissing everything as "not significant" without explanation. Rather than advocating for my interests, he pressured me to accept a settlement that was absurdly low and clearly not in my best interest. It became increasingly clear that he was not just passive but completely unfit to handle litigation. He is not a litigator as he claims and took the case anyway, wasting critical time. His attitude was indifferent, lazy, and at times, it felt like he was working against me rather than for me. His negligence caused real harm to my case, and his actions (and inactions) were not only unprofessional but deeply unethical. If you're looking for a lawyer who will actually fight for you, communicate with you, and take your case seriously - look elsewhere. The attorney demonstrated poor credentials, having graduated from a mediocre law school and possessing minimal practical experience, which was evident in his lack of skill, confidence, and judgment throughout the case. When I asked him for the excess money back, he said he would do more for me. Then I asked him to help me get a deed for my house. He refused, saying he was not "a deed guy." When he showed ineptitude about even keeping up with current ongoings by the adversary attorneys, I pointed this out to him and asked why he had not kept up with the case, and what about the retainer. He said he had to figure out how much he owed me, if anything. A few days later, he said that he would not do anything more for me because I insulted him. He never gave me back any part of the retainer. This is nothing but attorney fraud on his part. I would like to protect those people in desperate circumstances who are forced to find any attorney on a few hours notice who might have to resort to unethical attorneys like him as a last resort. They would be better off defending themselves or attempting to get free legal services from a legal aid society type organization.

Representation and communication was weak and the rate for service were high. Over the course of almost 2 years, there was no progress made in our case, and the case is still active. They were fast to take us on as a client, but then communication became next to nothing over the course of our tenure with them. Every 2-3 months we would follow up with case status but there was nothing to report, and we were told to sit tight. After about 2 years, we decided to change firms and asked for all correspondence related to the case and the investigator, but Brill's firm could not produce any informative emails or updates with the investigator. Most of the communication was "calls" and "voicemails", but nothing that showed progress or an attempt to bring closure. Brill's firm is either too busy (likely) or doesn't care enough (possible) to help with cases deemed "less significant" to them. In short, 2 years later we're in the same spot we were, and we are currently evaluating new representation. If we could go back, we would have paid the premium (higher cost) for other attorneys who we interviewed with who seemed more invested in our case.

The Yelp reviews are why I contacted this office in the first place. The main reason I did not go with this firm is that a consultation for 30 minutes would cost $99. I am seeking legal help because of debt so I would think that at the minimum, consultation would be free because most if not all of the clientele are seeking help for financial troubles. So just from that consultation fee, I surmised that the cost would be too high for me. It might end up costing me more than my initial debt. I could be wrong but I was not quoted any other fees as I requested. For all I know, the rates could be very reasonable but that is not the impression I got. Update: I increased the rating to 4 stars because Jesse Langel contacted me directly to address my concerns and advise me. I applaud his concern over customer relations and his thoughtfulness in reaching out to me and helping me as much as he could and his promise to continue to advise me if needed. My debt is not very large so the cost effectiveness of hiring Jesse is, unfortunately, probably not in the cards. This is why I can't in good conscience give 5 stars since I won't be able to see his work but I got to see some of his integrity.
