Great new find on the West Island! Located by several Indian restaurants, Pappou's definitely stands out as being the only Greek restaurant and that too, Halal! They have a variety of starters (including great options for vegetarians too!) and specialise in Gyros & Grilled Meats. Their family platters are excellent and great value too. Portions are generous, chicken/meats are tender and well seasoned and the sides make it that extra bit delicious! I loved their round-cut 'chips' style potatoes and the greek salad. The owner is really warm and friendly, despite opening during the second wave of Covid he is very positive and puts a lot of love into his cooking. The interior is a clean open-concept with plenty of seating (though currently take-out only) and the restaurant has taken good Covid-19 measures with there being sanitizers at the door and the staff wearing face masks. Overall, a great positive experience! Would definitely return if in the area again.

I recently heard about this place opening up nearby and take-out Friday made this the perfect time to check it out. The halal food scene in Montreal is usually limited to middle eastern and South Asian food so Greek was a nice addition. I ordered in advance and pick up was seamless, it was packaged and ready on time. My go-to take-out standard for Greek food is usually Marathons, but this place was a very close second. Everything was tasty, fresh and perfectly seasoned. My only complaints really are that I like for my tzatziki to be thicker in consistency whereas this one was thinner and creamier but with less texture than typical tzatziki, but I'm really picking at straws here. The portions were a good size and the prices are reasonable, will be back for sure.

I can say that the quality of the food is very worth of its price. You can get a all you can eat…read moresalads and soup to start while waiting for your main dish. Their cream soup is really good and I always take it when I eat there. They have a variety of salads, you can choose which ever you like. They give you a good quantity of main dish. The Calamari is my favorite and it costs only 13$ including the dessert! They taste very good and are not very greasy. I recommend to not eat too much buffet salad because you'll not be able to finish your main dish! They include a dessert and a coffee. Honestly their cake doesn't taste really good, but at this price point and food they offer, I didn't really mind. The service is standard good there. Sometimes they get busy but there are always helping you when you wave your hand at them.

But once I've traveled and seen and tasted different things and also eaten for 2 weeks in a lot of restaurants in Greece...then, I come back here after decades absent and I see clearly that this is but a McDonald's disguised as a Greek restaurant. Bring your own wine is a sign of cheapness. From both the owners and clientele. Their dinner specials (after 4pm) are accompanied with some nasty old coffee served in dirty crusty cups, with disgusting mid 70s style desserts. The meal specials are all much smaller in portion than their regular menu items. The kind of restaurant that have way too many menu items and nothing that stands out in taste or presentation. Very old and bland. Perfect for your grumpy old friends. Salad bar is small and really not worth it, have these people heard of kale or spinach? Iceberg lettuce! Remember bread buns sealed in plastic bags served with frozen butter? Like time stood still. McDonald's a la Greek! I have (had to) come here way to many times over the years and have come out thinking the same thing; never again. One waiter left a broken wine glass on the floor in front of our table for the entire time of our meal! I had to tell the clueless manager who had walked by several times, crushing the glass under his feet, for him to do something. The waiters here seem to be so fed up of working here, maybe they wanted to trip on it and get early retirement? Terrible food, terrible service with no warmth. Actually, most McDonald's are better than this now. There is a huge reception area upstairs, they should move the restaurant there, much nicer. Sad and depressing.

All in all, an experience well below our expectation as fans of the mile end flagship restaurant. I currently ordered food and received a mixed up order. I ordered chicken souvlaki sticks and received meat instead. Seeing as the person this was ordered for doesn't eat meat, I called the restaurant back and told them and they asked if I wanted a credit or the food to be sent. I asked them to send the chicken sticks. An hour an fifteen minutes later, nothing. Called back and was told the driver left 10 minutes after the initial call. Now the initial order came in 30 minutes yet this mistake took over an hour. Another 45 minutes go by (2 hours after the mix up) and I told them I never received my chicken. I was told that it was delivered....it clearly wasn't as I hadn't received it. I was then asked if I had a child since the driver said a kid answered the door and took the food. I proceeded to tell them that I do not have a child and that they must have delivered the chicken to the wrong address. I was told, drivers make mistakes but that they have done everything and there's nothing else to be done! I paid for food, for the wrong order and they sent food to someone else and basically blamed me. They were not even apologetic, didn't offer a credit or to send it out again. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. Never again! When you have a good experience you tell one person, when you have a bad experience you tell 20 and post on social media to warn future consumers.
