They have recently refurbished and now looks alot cleaner and fresher. Now they have 2 counters but only 1 is open as they only have one member of staff. The lady who runs the post office is very friendly and welcoming. she is also helpful and knowledgable of the products and services the post office offers. I find that this branch can be busy on pension day and at the end of the month when car tax is due bit i'm sure this is true in all post offices.

Henfield Post Office is, at first glance, not obviously a post office. The post office bit is…read morehidden behind a general store, stationers and toy shop all rolled into one, which is great entertainment as you can browse as you queue. They often have odd ornaments in here and fripperies to dot about your home - I picked up a ballet shoe ornament as a present in here once, which was delicate, detailed porcelain and not at all what you'd expect to find in a post office. If you were that kind of mum that kept a present drawer, you could fill it from this place - that's exactly what it sells, toy-wise, the sort of hallucinogenic plastic concoction that you probably wouldn't buy ordinarily, but that brings a whoop of delight to the lips of any youngster at the turn of age, if only because it's luridly green and turns into a fake poo when you lick it. The stationery side of things is good for birthday cards, and there's a small selection of writing-paper and necessaries. The post office people are all very friendly and efficient, and usually having a chat with a couple of locals whenever I go in. Bizarrely, you exit via a different door, so that it feels a bit like a drive-thru, but this certainly assuages the traffic problem at rush hour (consequently chivvying you neatly past all the stock it has to offer!) If you want to explore Henfield, this would be a good visit both for the leaflets and the local knowledge on hand.

It's in quite a handsome building in a quiet residential street - Melville Road is opposite the Co-op, which is next to the 'Good Companions' pub. It's what they used to call a Crown Office, ie now owned by Post Office Ltd, and so offers the full range of postal services, insurance, savings accounts etc., as well as providing a small range of stationery. It also has a 24hr cashpoint - useful to know about if the others in the area run out of money, which they seem to do frequently. Staff are friendly and seem to know all their customers, but service can be a little slow at times - but then, friendly chatter is a dying art these days, so perhaps I shouldn't complain. And it is the only one in the area, so it's a case these days of 'use it or lose it'.
