My fiance and I were pleased with our overnight stay at Paradise Beach resort. Our cabin was cute with just enough rustic feel. We had a great view of the lake, and we were actually able to check in early. One thing that was kind of a bummer was the check in time. You cannot check in until 5 pm, unless it's a case like mine was. I feel this is a very late check in time compared to other places similar to this one. read more

We stayed here for a week in early July and I wanted to wait to post my review so I could be sure my emotional feelings would not cloud an honest assessment of the facilities. My family and I have been coming for many years and have always loved the rustic simplicity of the resort. It was not fancy, but was very well maintained and allowed for a wonderful week on the beach. In the past year, the resort has come under new ownership and went through some extensive electrical updates as well as some interior design 'upgrades'. Although the freshly pastel-painted walls do bring some cheer to the place, the other design changes range from ill-advised to downright ridiculous. We stayed in the 3 bedroom cabin that sleeps 6-8 (six in the bedrooms and two on the full-size futon) for the week. Instead of the full size range/oven that used to be in the cabin, there is now a two slice toaster oven and a hot plate. Both of these appliances are located on the small cart (which also serves as the only food storage area) in the 'kitchen'. Aside from being directly below and touching the curtains (hello, fire hazard), the electrical cords are so short they are only able to be used if an advanced game of Tetris is played. The old kitchen table that seated six was moved out to be replaced by the worst table design I have ever seen (and I am no engineer). The table legs on the cheap plywood table are too close to the center, making it unstable, so pieces of wood were screwed across the legs. This makes it impossible to tuck the chair anywhere close to under the table. You have to eat leaning over in your chair; if you have a small child this table will be absolutely useless. With the exception of a set of small narrow shelves in the hallway, a dresser that holds extra bedding in the living room, and small unanchored hooks in the bathroom and bedrooms, there is zero storage. This is not a hyperbolic statement, there is literally no place to put or store anything in the rooms. Do you have glasses, a phone, a book, or a glass of water? Guess you are going to have to store them on the moldy carpet covering the floor because there is no bedside table. There is no dresser, no luggage rack, no chair, and no windowsill. I have been all over the world and even the cheapest hostel has some place to put your suitcase besides the floor. This storage issue is also the case in the bathroom - there are five small hooks dangling from a bar right over the toilet. 6-8 people ostensively use this bathroom and bathe here, but there is no where to hang towels, wash clothes, or bathing suits. There is a 8" shelf for toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, razors, hair brushes, medications, extra toilet paper, and anything else eight people might need in a bathroom for a week. Finally, there is no comfortable furniture. The only seating beside the kitchen chairs is the futon which does not allow one to sit upright, making it painful to sit there for more than a few minutes at a time. Given the posted rates (the summer of 2020 is almost three times the rates of 2019), one might expect five star hotel services. Be advised this is not the case. There are no towels provided, no daily housekeeping, and no complementary stale donuts and cheap coffee in styrofoam cups. This is strictly a bring-it-yourself place, which apparently includes chairs, a stove, and dressers. You might be better served heading down the road to a more comfortable place at a much more realistic rate. read more

Spent a week in cabin 7 as part of an extended party of many cabins. Lou and Lindsey were great and very responsive to our needs. Beach is in great shape considering the higher water levels and all cabins were nicely air conditioned. Lots of shady places to sit in the grass area as well and corn hole was in constant use. Great week. Already signed up for another week next year. read more

We were a family of six that spent a week in cabin 2. Tight quarters were fine for a close family. Very nice beach, this place is well cared for by its owners. No ciggy butts anywhere on the prop. Lots of kid friendly stuff, cornhole, swings, beach toys. Very good restaurant recommendations from the owner. Will be back if we make our way to Tawas again. read more

We have been vacationing at Paradise Beach for a number of years (and the two prior owners). I will say that upon our arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and Nick the owner. We were a little disappointed with the later check in time. A 5pm check in is quite late- so it really doesn't give you time to enjoy your arrival date at all. It's not our resort to run but as a consumer, it was not very functional to see a lot of furniture and storage removed from the cabin. It had a minimum to begin with. The prior owners always made sure there were dishes and pots/pans available. Which was very helpful. If the new owner was going to remove all the storage and cooking utensils- it would have been nice to have received a notification, to plan to bring some. I hear future changes include removal of all stoves and grills but they are adding a communal kitchen area. Unfortunately, these changes lessen the convenience and ease for vacationing. We tried to make the most of our stay, but all the radical changes with the increase in price (to cover unnecessary changes) and inability to re-book our cabin for next year (without using the online booking tool), we will look elsewhere! Another point to mention, Nick owns other hotel property adjacent to the resort. While we were told he will not allow hotel guests to use the beach- he does. The limited beach usage was one of the great benefits to staying here. With hotel guests allowed to use the beach, why pay his high resort cost? read more

Great place to stay. The owners are very welcoming. We only stayed 3 days but I was sad to leave. Cabins are well supplied but bring your own bathroom supplies and towels. The husband was very friendly, always keeping the place very very clean. Wood stocked everyday for a bon fire. Beach raked in the morning to clear of rocks. The owners show in all that they do that they love their resort and appreciate all the guests that stay with them. When we left their grand daughter gave my friend and I glass light houses that could hold sand so we could take home a part of Lake Huron. I will recommend this resort and also do my best to book again and return. Best 3 days I have had minus the weather read more
