We walked in and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated in the dining room and all the tvs had football on. Cute little lights on the tables lend to the ambiance. Our waitress took our order. I'm in an Irish pub so I HAVE TO get fish and chips and so happy that I did. 2 huge fish strips served over hot French fries. Did not disappoint! My husband had a cheeseburger. Recently planned a get together with some former coworkers. Needed a place to meet up. When I…read moregoogled, "good cheap eats in Schenectady," the 20 North Broadway Tavern topped the short list. Done. It was an instant hit. I wanted the pastrami sandwich pictured on the website. Turns out, it was every bit as good as it looked. Probably the best I've had in the Capital Region. I think it came with coleslaw but they let me switch it for a small salad. The beer was cold. The server/ bartender was both friendly and efficient. The food came up relatively quickly. I was relieved and delighted. The tavern has just the right look. It's cute from the outside with nice signage. Inside, the lighting is dim-- especially at night--with the feel of a cool dive bar. If you want a more festive setting during the summer, there's outdoor seating complete with hanging string lights. That actually looked very inviting but my friends chose to stay indoors due to the threat of rain. As we prepared to leave, my friends were wondering why they hadn't been to the tavern before.
