It's practically impossible not to have a permanent grin on one's face while playing Mini Golf, and at Xscape it's no different. Even if the £7 entry fee is a bit eye watering, and the holes aren't quite as varied as they could be.
The 2 courses do nail it on the wacky atmosphere though, with a well done tropical theme. My favourite part of it was the water shooting elephant at one point which can quite comically drench golfers waiting to take their shot. There was a group of ten year old lads going round just behind us and a couple of them got good soaking.
The said group of youngsters that accompanied us are the main target audience of Paradise Island, and their general enthusiasm, effort and competitive spirit really added to the whole experience. The boundless energy perhaps rubbed off on me, as not only did I take the game VERY seriously, I almost managed to break par on the course.
However, the "Kodak moment" came right at the end, on the bonus 19th hole. A free game is the prize for a hole in one, and we saw many step up, all of whom failed.
Not E-Bot though, who despite mixed fortunes during the round itself, slammed it home to rapturous applause, whooping and hollering from the assembled crowd, before a staff member rushed down to present her with a golden free game ticket.
